Welcome to the Papa Bear of the Bear Family Haven! The Papa Bear offers a wonderful destination for large family reunions, group getaways, ski and snowmobile groups, or a business retreat.
The Papa Bear has plenty of room for your gathering. With 6500+ square feet, 15 separate bed rooms, and 8 1/2 bath rooms, there is plenty of room for everyone. The Theater room has 100+ inch screen. The loft area has a pool table and a PA system for family meetings.
The kitchen is beautifully done with all stainless steel appliances. There is an over-sized pantry, two refrigerators, two ranges, two double ovens (4 total), and two dishwashers.
There are three full-sized front-loading washers and dryers. Two sets are on the main floor and one set in the loft area.
The Papa Bear is located on Bear Lake Blvd in the heart of Garden City. The property has direct access to the beach via 150 South (this is the Beach Access road that goes directly to the Public Beach).
For smaller groups, see our other listings on VRBO. The Baby Bear Cottage sleeps up to 8. The Mama Bear Cabin is just right for groups up to 15. Or, for really large groups, you can rent all three cabins as they are all adjacent to each other on 1.25 acres of land.
During the non-summer months, we offer the Papa Bear Lodge for smaller groups at a reduced rate. Basically, it’s all of the main floor (7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms), the upstairs loft and gathering area (pool table, foosball table and 1/2 bathroom). In short, it’s the entire lodge except the four upstairs suites.

My family had a great time staying at Papa Bear cabin for a winter get away. As we planned the trip people thought we were crazy to go to Bear Lake in the middle of winter but we loved it. There was plenty to do in the cabin and lots of snow activities nearby. We watched movies, played board and video games, ate great food, went sledding, sat in the hot tub, and held our annual talent show. We loved the theater room, the large kitchen, the gas fireplaces, and nothing was more fun than sitting in the the hot tub in freezing weather looking at the snow covered trees. The large tables were great for board games and crafts. The size and layout of the cabin with large group areas and individual bedrooms allowed us to spend time together but have alone time if needed. This was particularly nice for the nursing mothers but the teenage girls enjoyed their privacy as well. We also enjoyed activities outside the cabin and everyone we met from the community was great. We had a wonderful time sledding in Logan Canyon. ACE hardware had a large selection of sleds and the visitor's center at the summit of Logan Canyon pointed us to a great sledding hill. We saw lots of people on snow machines, cross country skis, and snow shoes. We would go again and recommend this place to all our friends. The cabin was very clean and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We appreciated them having someone meet us there the night we arrived to make sure we knew how to use everything and everything was working. My wife, who has cleaned cabins before and notices every detail, was amazed at how clean the cabin was. There were plenty of towels and extra blankets.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We had a family reunion with our four children, their spouses and 16 grandchildren. There was plenty of room for all of us and we didn't even use all of the rooms. Everything we needed was right there. Loved the fireplaces during these cold snowy winter days. The theatre room was perfect for our talent show and it seemed like somebody was in there all the time watching movies or playing video games. The kitchen was fantastic with room for multiple cooks and kids under foot. Papa Bear is a perfect for our family reunions.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We had a great time at Papa Bear. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. Love the central location and proximity to the lake. It was great to be walking distance to restaurants and gift shopping. Lake side is the only way to go at Bear Lake. This place is great for management retreats like we did but would also be great for medium to large family reunions. I would definitely recommend Papa Bear.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a great family reunion at this cabin. We have a lot of families with small children and it was wonderful to be able to put the kids to bed in our own room/suite and then gather together as adults to talk and not have to worry about the kids being in a different building or apartment. I was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was. The kids had a great time making the rounds of the hot tub, media room and playing outside on the play gym. We had tons of fun!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We just had the opportunity to use this property for a family reunion of ~50. We spent several days there, and never felt crowded. There was plenty to do for all ages, golf, watercraft / beach activities, wonderful play ground that could handle the crowd of younger kids, pool table, foosball table, jacuzzi. I had much of the cooking responsibility and the large, fully-stocked kitchen, grills were wonderful! We received many comments, such as: "best reunion ever!", "we should come back next reunion!", "we had tons of people and didn't feel like we were on top of each other!". One of the best things about this property is that you can have a large group with private rooms and still be completely connected. The layout is well planned for this. Other reunions we have had resulted in everyone scattering to different rooms or properties and not having as much time together. Here, there was ample room for spontaneity, games, relaxing, laughing, sharing, eating (very important!) and building of great family memories. I would highly recommend this location to a large family trying to connect!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Michelle and I have been looking to buy or build here for years. Bear Lake is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Salt Lake City. It's just right to get away and still not be too far from home.
Why the Owner Chose Bear Lake:
We've been coming to Bear Lake for many years. We usually had to rent 5 or 6 condos in order to fit all of us. We figured that other large families probably had the same experience, so we decided to build a lodge where we could all stay comfortably.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
We really enjoy coming to the lodge to relax and enjoy our family. There's lots to do while at the lodge. We all enjoy watching a movie in the theater room. The kids enjoy getting in the hot tub pretty much any time (winter or summer). It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach, so we can walk back and forth between the cabin and the beach whenever we feel like it. There are 2 restaurants next door, and about 10 more restaurants 3 blocks to the north.
