Villa Scarpariello Relais is a romantic waterfront villa set into the rocks that tumbles down from the Amalfi Coast road to the sea below.

This stunning property features views to fie for, a private access to the sea and a sea watered swimming pool.

It is situated in the coastal part of Ravello and at less than one mile from Amalfi.

The presence of the twelfth-century Tower, antique artifacts, marble statues and of the tasteful decorated interiors, testify the history of this charming place.

Among the many, it has hosted the last sovereigns of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Elena, and guests such as Jacqueline Kennedy.

It's a festival of colours with flowers and plants, the sky above and the sea that is just a few meters away.

Stepping in the relais, one dips in an ocean of peace and beauty.

Amalfi is a stroll away and from there ferries and hydrofoils connect it efficiently with Positano, Sorrento, Capri and Naples.

Buses are cheap and easy to use with a stop situated at the gates of the villa.

If one decides to rent a car, a large free parking is available on site.

The villa is rented exclusively for at least six nights from June to September and four/five nights in April, May and October. It's closed during the winter.

Rates include parking, air conditioning/heating, mid week-cleaning and the final one, usage of the pool (open weather permitting) and of the platform over the sea (both shared with the other guests of the villa) linens and towels, taxes, electricity and concierge service 24h are included in the price. Paying an extra charge, it’s possible to have contiental or American breakfast and extra cleanings.

                  • Details:

Amalfi, and its particular coast, is considered perhaps the most beautiful part of Italy. It is a quiet and picturesque seaside resort with a temperate climate and incomparable natural beauties. Amalfi, originally Roman, was the first Sea Republic of Italy. After the fall of the Roman Empire, it was the first city to re-establish relationship between East and West by transporting and introducing into Italy exotic merchandise such as carpets, coffee and paper. Amalfi had its own coin (The Tarì) and was the home of Flavio Gioia, the inventor of the compass, and gave the navigators the famous maritime law known as 'Tabula de Amalpha'. Below follow some suggestions about the places to visit: The Duomo, built about the 6th century and dedicated to St.Andrew the Apostle whose remains are kept in the crypt; • The Cloister of Paradise, set beside the Duomo, that was built the 13th century in Arabian style; • The Paper Museum, where we can see the tools used over the centuries for making paper by hand; • The Emerald Grotto, a fantastic green temple full of figures, caryatids and bas-reliefs formed by dripping water from the vaulted ceiling, over the thousand of years. An interesting feature: the underwater pottery crib. Ravello is a small city of ancient origin, which faces a range of hills overlooking the clear blue sea of the Gulf of Salerno, like a balcony. Under this balcony the other wonders of this coast are unequalled. The beauty of this area has inspired poets, painters and musicians in the course of its millenarian history. It was here that Wagner stayed and was inspired by the magical beauties of the Villa Rufolo, its gardens and architectural works of the Cloisters to exclaim the 'Garden of Klingsor' is found. Boccaccio, a long time before him, spoke of Ravello, a town rich in monuments, in the stories of Decameron dedicated to the 'merchant' for Ravello, Landolfo Rufolo and his travels around the world. Ravello with its arches and antique towers, the splendid scenery of the clear skies and sea, such as that of the beautiful view from the Villa Cimbrone, is very protective towards its treasure of art. For example, the 11th Century Bronze Doors of Barisano da Trani, the precious pulpit ornate with mosaic lions conserved in the cathedral in which you can admire the other precious treasures.? The wine that is produced in Ravello is one of the better wines as is the climate and character of its people. Villa Cimbrone was originally built for the aristocratic Accongiagioco family in the 19th century. By pure chance, it was discovered by an Englishman whose servant, Nicola Mansi, was born in Ravello. The land contained a very modest dwelling when Ernest William Beckett, later Lord Grimthorpe, acquired it in 1904. The enthusiasm of the Mansis (made resident custodians by Beckett), and the love of Italian classicism by the Englishman, soon transformed the property into a delightful folly. Inspired by the daughter of Lord Grimthorpe, another charming Villetta was constructed on the cliff edge with incomparable views over the whole coast and surrounding area. Villa Rufolo reached the height of its glory in the reign of Charles 1 of Angio, King of Naples from 1266 to 1285. At this time the Rufolo family had within its ranks a Bishop, John James and Matthew - Royal bankers, and Lawrence, a governor in Abruzzo. During the last century a Scotsman and botanist, Francis Neville Reid, bought the property and restored it. Subsequently the Villa has been acquired by the Provincial Tourist Board and the Wagner Commemorative concerts are held here each summer. Positano? is one of the pearls of the Amalfi Coast. It rises on rocks, which characterise the whole area and make the landscape particulary suggestive thanks to the various forms that nature has created.? The town lies on terraced land, immersed in a green landscape and looking out on a particulary blue sea.?Its picturesque position, mild climate and natural beauty have made this town a very well known tourist spot.? When you visit Positano do not miss the colourful boutiques with the well – known 'Positano Mode'. High above Positano stands the little village of Montepertuso (hole mountain). The houses. Set among olive groves, filbert trees and terraced vineyards, grasp at footholds on the steep flanks of the mountain. Bedside the town a deep ravine plunges to the sea. Across the ravine looms a sheer brown shoulder of rock. Plunged so cleanly through it that it seem artificial, a natural arch in the rock lets through a semi circle of improbable blue sky. On the 2nd July the towns people celebrate the festival of the mountain, the miraculous result, they say, of a contest between the Holy virgin and the devil....morecollapse

I enjoyed this Mediterranean view from my own balcony. 10/11/2012

                  VRBO Bear stayed here:

Villa Scarpariello is heaven on earth. From the sweeping views of the Mediterranean, to the evening breezes lulling you to sleep through open windows, all your cares are whisked away.
October turned out to be the perfect time to visit this amazing property. We were greeted at the door by Dominic, our on-site host. He graciously showed us to our rooms. The steps wound down to the double room, and then down and down again past the outdoor breakfast veranda, through lush gardens, to the apartment Regina.
Apartment Regina boasts views of the Mediterranean from two huge bedroom windows, and through double doors in the living/dining area that lead to the balcony. There was also a small kitchen with a veritable smorgasbord awaiting us after our 24 hours of traveling! Our reservations manager, Emiliano, had arranged a meal of homemade sundried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, just-baked bread, marinated mushrooms, prosciutto, and 3 little slices of cake. We ate like kings! And then we slept like babies.
Villa Scarpariello really is a great place from which to embark on daily adventures and truly take in the Amalfi Coast. After a lovely breakfast of fresh breads, yogurt, fruit, coffee and juices, we went down to the local town (Minori). It was Sunday and there just happened to be a wedding at the local basilica. Beautiful!
Another day, we took a drive down to Amalfi to catch the ferry over to Capri. There’s nothing like a boat ride with the sea air blowing through your hair! The island was beautiful, and the shopping divine. We took a long lunch and then the ferry back home. We had plenty of time to visit Positano and lie on the beach, hike to the top of the crater at Mount Vesuvius and take in Herculaneum and Pompeii, explore the extensive gardens of Villa Cimbrone, and we even spent a day in Rome on the way home.
If you’re more the stay-at-home type, you really could spend all your time at the Villa and in its gardens. There are tons of little nooks where you can read and relax, a beautiful salt-water pool and tanning deck, and even a place to jump into the sea!
Pier Paulo, Dominic, and Emiliano really made our stay memorable and comfortable by recommending all the best restaurants, shops, and little hidden gems.
Planning a trip to the Amalfi Coast? Make Villa Scarpariello your home base!

I recently brought 30 guests to Italy to celebrate my Birthday. We rented the entire Villa, which is simply Wonderful!! The rooms, the staff (Paulo, Domenico, Rafaelina, Marina), the location and the atmosphere were just perfection. It took me a year of working with Emiliano (Who is also wonderful) to produce the perfect experience for my family and friends. I highly suggest that if you are planning a trip to paradise, run don't walk to the Villa Scarpariello, you will not be sorry. Grazie, Grazie, Grazie! Stayed September 2012, traveled with friends

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Villa Scarpariello Relais. The views were breathtaking, the sea water pool was great and the staff were charming. We stayed in the Luigi apartment. We would defiantly go back and recommend it to others. The only time I was disappointed was after eating at Villa San Michele. There were no prices and they did not tell us that no matter what we ate, the price would be 26 Euro per person. A small caprse salad and penne with tomato sauce for 4 people should not cost 104 Euro in any Italian Restaurant. I'm not saying to not eat there, 26 Euro is a decent price for a full Italian meal. A full Italian meal includes an anti-pasta, 1st course (pasta), 2nd course (meat and potato), fruit and a cafe; not just an anti-pasta and a 1st course. Other than that, I would recommend staying here to anyone.

Dear Emiliano, Thank you so much for being a part of our amazing wedding. You have been so kind and thoughtful in helping me and my mother Maureen plan so much of the big week! The dinner at Torre Normanna was simply beautiful and we couldn’t have found it without you. Thank you. We will never forget your kindness and generosity of time and support as we planned the wedding from afar. Your gift was such a nice gesture and we are so fortunate to think of you each time we think about the wedding. Duncan and I look forward to seeing you again when we are next in Ravello. Until then, take care. With love and thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Logan

My fiance and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Scarpariello during the 1st week of September 2010. We traveled the Almalfi Coast in search of a place to get married next summer (sort of a prehoneymoon!). We stayed in Positano, Amalfi, and Nerano and we decided that Villa Scarpariello and the Ravello area would be the best place to gather our family and friends for our special ceremony. We wanted to stay at a place where our guests would get an authentic Italian experience, while staying at a high quality bed & breakfast atmosphere at a reasonable price, with excellent access to the sea (multiple individual levels for sunbathing) and wonderful hospitality, all while being centrally located to the best of the Amalfi Coast. First of all, the pictures on the website are amazing, but you really have to see it in person! The view of Villa Scarpariello and the Bay of Salerno from "View of Infinity" at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello is especially stunning. The surrounding area has so much to offer: from the quaint restaurants with excellent food in Atrani to the grand luxury and history of Ravello. We thoroughly loved the hospitality that Piero and Dominic showed us: Piero ensured our late luggage arrived quickly with no problems and arranged a wonderful lunch at the Villa San Michele and we loved the late evening chats with Dominic about life, love, and wonderful food! We can't wait to come back next summer for our wedding!

At only nine hundred metres far from Villa Scarpariello Relais, there is Atrani, a small fishermen – away from the crowd village, with some nice restaurants where you can taste the freshest products of the coast. Within walking distance, at only five hundred meters, there is the Hotel Villa San Michele with its family run restaurant. The Campania region is particularly rich in history and culture and the tailor made excursions that I personally arrange are a good chance to explore it in the best way. To not be missed are Ravello, where the very famous chamber music festival takes place and Positano with its characteristic small roads and steps. These two villages, together with Amalfi, are the most famous localities of my area.
