We were the guests that would not leave...when we rented for the month we did not expect to be there much more than the first week and thought any additional time would be a bonus. Well, thanks to great internet access my husband was able to work from there and lived there the entire month! SO close to Chicago we were able to go back and forth as needed. Enough about us, this home is a gem. The pictures do accurately reflect the house however the furniture in the family room is now in the garage making a great "mancave" which my teenage son loved to hang out in. There is new very nice and comfortable furniture in the family room. There are many places to sleep and to hang out in this home so no one feels like they are living on top of each other. Mary, the owner, was very helpful with information about local happenings and accessible when needed. Lake Como is a great secret!!!! It is a nice sized lake and very calm with little boat traffic. There is some seaweed in this lake but the kids had no issue with that. We all had a great time tubing and wakeboarding. My husband's favorite thing about the whole setup was that there were restaurants on the lake...we would hop in the boat and go across the lake to the Mars Resort for fabulous ribs or boat over to Kirsch's French Country Inn and anchor and listen to the live music they have outside many nights during the week. The family loved walking down the street from the house to In the Drink for some great pizza and to play pool. Down the street the other way was Freddy's West End that has a popular Friday Fish Fry which we went to a few times and really enjoyed. Boat access and a little beach are down at the end of the street also. Geneva National is on this lake as well. My husband had a few friends up to play golf. You have the best of both worlds here because the lake is so wonderful and Lake Geneva town is a very short drive with many nice restaurants. My daughters would often drive there in the evening to get ice cream and walk around shopping. This lake home is absolutely the perfect setup....great spacious, fully appointed home, awesome, calm lake with restaurants on it, closer to Lake Geneva town then many of the homes on Lake Geneva, and a short distance from Chicago. We have plans to return again next year!! If the house is booked contact Mary about the brand new beautiful inn next door that she rents out too that I would highly recommend. She gave us a tour.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Allison, Jim and family, Thank you all so much ! Seeing families enjoy time together in this home that was built just for that, makes me ever so happy! And getting to watch your family ski was like having the aquanauts in your own front yard! Your children are really excellent skiers. Well done to their teachers! I'm glad you all enjoyed our happy little pocket of La La Land..... It's bliss in the summer and just as much fun in the Winter... I know... I know... it's cold but Como is quite different from other lakeside communities ... We don't let a lil cold keep us from enjoying the lake .... we just put another layer on! Many Blessing to you and yours Jim and Allison! See you next summer! P.S. I wish your son all the best in his first year of college!

We just spent a very relaxing extended vacation at this rental home on Lake Como and I thought I'd leave a review. Having never been to the Lake Geneva area, we simply had no clue what to expect. We were disappointed to find out that this home is actually on Lake Como and not on Geneva...about a 10 minute drive away. We had nothing to be worried about. Lake Como is lovely and it was actually kind of nice to be in a less busy area where we could really relax. The home is literally exactly the way it appears in the pictures. The views of the lake are spot on as well. The pic you see of a deck with a bell on the post are of the deck right off the kitchen. We had many meals sitting out there, played games and it's the perfect sunning deck because you have bushes surrounding the deck shielding you from passers by. There's a great deck off the master bedroom where I spent ALOT of time. Beautiful views of the lake and because it's covered, it's a lovely place to sit and read in the chaise lounges out of the sun, with the best breezes to keep you cool. The home was really well stocked with nearly everything you need. The kitchen, in particular, was great and felt like home. For the majority of our stay, we literally just stayed in and relaxed. For a portion of our stay we invited guests to join us and the layout is perfect for a mixture of kids and adults as the house as a loft area with a big screen tv and 2 sofas for the kids to have their own space. There are low-key bar/restaurants within a block or two of the house as well as parks for the kids to walk to. I felt very safe there and the people in the area were nice and quite casual. We ventured out to Lake Geneva every other day or so for nice dinners, lunches and shopping. While stunningly beautiful and surrounded with the most amazing multi-million dollar homes, I am glad we stayed at Lake Como where I feel like we fit right in and didn't have to put on airs. Mary King, the owner of the home, was lovely to work with and lives right next door to this rental home. My husband and I both have busy careers where we deal with clients all day so we were looking for a situation where we could just hibernate in a sense and not feel like we had to socialize alot with anyone. She seemed to sense this right away and was super nice and friendly, but left us to ourselves for the most part. I would absolutely return to this home and recommend it to anyone. Thanks again, Mary. We loved it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you so much! We would absolutely love for you, Shawn, and the pups to return! What wonderful guest you all were! Thank you for your review... it is very helpful to guest. Please use your 10% off coupon at either of our homes.... and keep in touch for May or June next year.... those are the most economical months ! Don't work too hard... and please keep in touch ! Mary, Andy and Buck

We completely enjoyed our one month stay in this wonderful home!! The owners were delightful and live close by to make sure your stay is perfect. We made ourselves completely at home with our three girls and our cocker spaniel. The home was gorgeous; super clean; the beds were so comfy and and the kitchen was a dream. The home was decorated so elegantly but with delightful touches to make it feel so warm and welcoming. With a beautiful view of the lake this vacation home is sure to win over your hearts! Thanks so much!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hello, It is Mary. I have just read your review actually my computer did. I had a tram-tick brain injury in July of 09. I am doing very well but reading is still very slow so my apologies for not thanking you sooner. Your family was one of the nicest we have had visit! We have just completed the family styled B&B next door. Visit our web site at www.atthelakehouse.com Andy and I would like to extend a 10% discount on your next stay should you wish to come back. If that doesn't work out perhaps you and your wife would come down for a nice dinner. Thank you again, Mary King

About the owner: My husband and I both came to Lake Como for summer vacations with our families as children. Our wonderful childhood memories spurred us to make Lake Como our year round residence as adults. It was a choice that ultimately brought us together. That being the case we got married on the sweet lake that brought us together in August of 2008. Our hope is to afford other families the same wonderful vacation memories that we had, and continue to have in this, “Happy Little Pocket of La La Land'.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Geneva:
I decided to build this house because of its beautiful lake views.
