When my wife and I arrived for our week, we were almost overwhelmed by the beauty and setting of our cottage. From the moment we entered, we felt welcomed by all that was prepared for our arrival and stay. We were looking for a place to rest and found much more than that. The cottage was nicely laid out and it was awesome to have the scene of water from both sides. We felt removed from all the pressures and distractions of everyday like.and thoroughly enjoyed our walks on the beach and evenings in the Jacuzzi.. We highly recommend the Turtle Cay for those looking for that place of peace and restoration.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

My family had an absolutely wonderful vacation. It was so beautiful with the bay in front and the lake in back. The cottage was clean and pretty. We especially loved the screened in room and the back balcony. This vacation is a great vacation for all children. We had teenagers and toddlers the whole week and everyone had activities to engage in and were all very happy!!! Scott and Martha were outstanding hosts. They were available to answer questions and give touring advice. They are so down to earth and loving. We will go back again without question. Thanks Scott and Martha for a wonderful week of fun!!!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

Spent 3 days at turtle cay with my wife and two daughters ages 11 and 8. Cottage was spotless and the description very accurate. Scott and Martha were more than accommodating. My daughters caught their first fish off the dock, caught over 30 sunny's, blue gills and perch. We all went kayaking in the lake and used the motor boat for rides around the bay. Sunsets were unbelievable, looked Carribean, as was the double rainbow over the bay. All rooms were great and the beds were extremely comfortable. Although the weather the 3rd day was not great Scott and Martha picked us up so we could go to dinner at Capt. Jack's, which was great. We all had a wonderful time and it was a great little getaway for our family. Can't say enough good things about our hosts. We have already recommended the cottage to our friends. Scott and Martha, thank you again for the hospitality and we are sure to come back and visitRecommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had such a great time at the Turle Caye Cottage. Scott and Martha were so accomodating. My kids and niece and nephew were even provided with a treasure hunt set up by Martha and Scott, complete with maps and treasures for each child! They were waiting for us to bring us to the cottage and set us up with our boat, and picked us up with the pontoon at the time we had chosen. Everything needed for a relaxing get away is there, hammock, chair swings, beach, water on both sides, gorgeous sunsets, hot tub. The cottage is fantastic...and the good news is there is an oven there now. We had such a wonderful time, my daughter asked to move there. None of us wanted to leave. Thank you, Martha and Scott!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

What a wonderful house. I really can't say enough great things about the house, the lake, and especially Scott and Martha. They were helpful and always available to answer our questions and to help us figure everything out. Both of them are wonderful, HONEST, and a overall lovely couple. The house was better that what was pictured! I surprised my boyfriend for his birthday and I was just as surprised as him when we got there. The views are breathtaking and the house is perfect. The kitchen was HUGE and fit everyone in it without any problems. The bedrooms we great! I haven't slept that well in a long time. I still have to ask Martha what mattress that was because the beds are the most comfortable that I have ever been in. We used the paddle boats, kayak, and the speed boat and had a great time just living life as it came. Both the sunset, and sunrise are picturesque! Anyone who rents this vacation home will not be disappointed. We are already making plans to make this an yearly things. Martha and Scott....we are coming back soon! Thank You for making his birthday perfect!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: It was a pleasure having you all out here. I know it's a real change from NYC. We love NYC but this is a different world out here. You all were so nice! Looking forward to having you all out again soon. Scott and Martha

We spent a week in August with our friends at the Turtle Cay. The description sounded amazing and the place was a blast. One of the reasons we picked it was it was big enough for our large group and we could bring our dogs. The bedrooms were nice & clean (as were the bathrooms). There was such a wonderful breeze coming in through the windows, we had constant fresh air! The kitchen was well equipped and we had some very delicious meals there (though we do wish it had an oven). Being on the lake "in the middle of nowhere" was amazing. Our first night we really cranked the music and drank lots of wine till the wee hours and were dancing & singing. The wrap-around deck was nice too. A few of the "kids" (young adults) stayed in the cottage and one of the "kids" slept in the Harry Potter closet near the screened in porch and he loved it! It was so nice to either sit in the swing or on the beach around the campfire and watch the most beautiful sunset ever and look at all the stars. The jacuzzi was nice and clean but would drop about 10 degrees after a few minutes. The Helluva Good Chees that the Owners provided was absolutely delicious. We even bought more! The unlimited wine cellar is a small wine cooler that the Owner will bring more when you ask (same with the microwave popcorn). The 6 foot movie screen was a wall in the dining area if you take down a picture but the projector was nice. The bay was gross with some green algae at the time, but the lake was perfect. All the kids and dogs enjoyed swimming in it! The guys didn't have much luck fishing, but enjoyed themselves anyway. One night we took the boats over to the marina and had dinner at one of the restaurants over there which was nice. It's kind of a pain having to rely on someone to take you to and from the main marina for your car. The Owners, Scott & Martha, were very nice and easy to deal with. If we needed something, we just gave them a call. The next door neighbors, Sam & Cathy, were also very nice. We would definitely recommend Turtle Cay to anyone wanting to vacation up there. We had a wonderful time and created lots of good memories. Maybe someday we'll make it back with our older son who just returned from Afghanistan!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My family and extended family stayed for a week here in July. We had an awesome time. The cottage, surf shack and additional toys entertained everyone (and 1 dog) from ages 2-83! We had read previous reviews and decided to rent a pontoon boat for the week. For it us it was the right decision. It gave us a chance to explore the bay, head to Sodus Point, and allowed for many fishing trips. Scott and Martha were responsive and friendly. A surprise treasure hunt was planned for the kids and they had a great time searching for their treasure. The bay and lake were beautiful and the neighbors (when around were) friendly I would recommend this vacation spot for families who like to relax, fish, swim, and just hang out together.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Martha and I are delighted that you and your family had a GREAT vacation. See you all next Summer!

What a beautiful place to get away. My greatest joy was to see my kids have a place to be kids. How can you go wrong with fishing, swimming, cookouts, campfires, and of course S'mores. Scott and Martha definitely have hearts for hospitality and provided above and beyond our needs. My kids loved the projection screens for movies but overall we suggest keeping all electronics off. My oldest daughter received personal training from Martha on driving the 14' boat and Scott came and rearranged a storage area in the cottage to give my youngest her very own room (She absolutely loved it). Our desire was to reconnect as a family and we cannot thank Scott and Martha enough for making us feel so comfortable and providing top notch service. We hope to come back again and again!!!!!!!!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

This was place was interesting, not exactly as what the pictures show! To start the family vacation off we lost power the next day after arriving. The owner didn't offer a generator until later in the day and that offer was for my family to go get the generator at the Marina and bring it back to the cottage. Come to find out the generator has been sitting outside for over a year, so it wouldn't start. After we finally got power back 1-1/2 days after losing it we finally thought we could enjoy our vacation. This place was decent, definitely not as nice as the pictures show. It was not cleaned very well from when the previous renters were there, some of the appliances didn't work that well. The Washing Machine would get stuck on the Rinse Cycle and needed to be adjusted everytime we washed clothes. There was no oven to bake foods, which is a little odd considering you are on a Island. Not all of the ammenties that the listing has were offered, for example all the beach chairs that were listed weren't there. They mentioned everlasting popcorn, didn't have any. Plus when the owner offers sleeps 10, just curious on how those 10 people are supposed to get back to the Marina in a single 14' Motor Boat? After complaining and requesting for another boat, Scott finally gave us another 14' Motor Boat. That way it made it easier for the families to get back to the Marina, but having a Patoon for the whole week would have made it much nicer!!! The Bay beach area was kind of dirty and full of sea weed. We basically had to rake away the sea weed from the beach area for the kids to play. The Lake beach area wasn't too bad, but hardly any sand for the kids to play. So they definitely had to have water shoes because of rocks and other foreign objects that were on the beaches. We made the week we were there fun, we tried to put to the side all the negatives that way our family could enjoy our summer vacation. Martha, Scott's wife was nice...she did try to help but Scott was not much of a help at all. I would say that Scott for the most part likes to see the money coming in but doesn't want to put any money back in to the place to make it worth the while. Please verfiy all options when picking this place!Owner response: It is with our deepest regrets that Jon was not happy. We had a full week of very bad weather with Tornado warnings and over 7000 people without power. That also caused the weeds to pile on shore. We have since installed a floating barrier to prevent the weeds from reaching the shoreline. We have never had a complaint and our cottages are very very clean. We did our best to make Jon happy all week long. We gave him a free pontoon boat for three days and a second 14' motor boat for the week. Our washing machine was found to of had some sand in the filter and it was repaired. However, we were not made aware of this problem while Jon was there. Martha and I work very hard catering to each one of our guest to make their vacation as wonderful as possible. Jon was not the guest we rented to, but a guest of that guest. We have had no complaints from our actual tenant. I will mention that we were not happy with the condition that our cottage was left. Someone deliberately sabotaged our cottage and boat. Someone piled trash and dirty diapers under one of the beds, Poured salt out all over in the cabinets, Hung our good bed spreads on hooks over the windows and tore them so that they had to be replaced, The anchor ropes in the boat were cut and the anchors were missing. The gas cap was removed and left for the rain to fill the gas tank. One toilet had a full role of toilet paper stuck in it and had to be snaked out. The list goes on but I have said enough. We will do our very best to make your vacation a special one. Scott and Martha
