STRANDS BEACH DANA POINT (California Beach Retreat - Near Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel, St. Regis at Monarch Beach and Laguna Beach
LOCATION
As you pull off of Pacific Coast Highway on to our palm lined street, you have the ocean to the right and our condominium complex, Niguel Beach Terrace, on the left. At this point you are "steps" away from the Strands Beach at Salt Creek Beach Park.
This area of Dana Point with it prominent coastal bluffs, is also known as The Headlands and is part of what is referred to as the "Gold Coast" or "California Riviera". With Laguna Beach to the north and San Clemente to the south, our California Beach Retreat is the ideal location for your Southern CA visit. You are central to all of Southern California! 60 miles from Los Angeles International Airport and 60 miles from Sea World in San Diego.
Sixty-eight miles to Universal Studios Hollywood, 33 miles to Disneyland Resort, 25 miles to John Wayne Airport, 5 miles to Laguna Beach, 5 miles to Mission San Juan Capistrano, 80 miles to Tijuana Mexico!
BEACH
The Strands Beach is actually the Southern portion of the Salt Creek Beach Park. It is a highly regarded surfing beach that consistently rates an A+ in water quality. It is common to see dolphins and sea lions while visiting the beach. This is the same beach that guests from the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel and The St. Regis at Monarch Beach use.
OUR BEACH HOME
First let me say this, "We Love this Place!" Every time we visit we feel as though we are away on a vacation. That being said, we set out to transform this place into our our ultimate Beach Home. We were fortunate to have a professional designer in the family to assist us. When not on assignment in the Far East or other parts of the world designing corporate HQ's, we were able to get this pro to guide us through an extensive renovation of our Beach House. The end result is a warm, comfortable feel where "coastal elements" abound.
LIVING ROOM
Entering this upper unit you will see floors with a beachwood look throughout, counter-tops with seafoam colored granite, glass tiles with the iridescence of abalone shells. Vaulted ceilings with recessed halogen lighting, plantation shutters give you the ability to control the abundant natural lighting, ceiling fans, an open floor plan integrates the kitchen with the living room.
A large deck adjacent to the kitchen and the master bedroom accommodates the gas barbeque. Adjacent to the living room area is another large deck with a small table and seating. Large sliding patio doors access each deck. Rounding out the living room is a queen size sleeper sofa, a 42" LCD TV, a Wii (yes, a Wii with 2 controllers)and a stereo system. Several DVD titles and some Wii games are provided.
GUEST BEDROOM
Next is the guest bedroom and bathroom. This large room also has vaulted ceilings with recessed lighting, a queen size bed with pillow top mattress, a designer ceiling fan, shutters and very good natural lighting. A large sliding patio door accesses the South facing deck. A TV with a DVD player and a clock radio are provided. The bathroom features a glass tile lined shower, frame-less glass shower door, limestone floors, granite counter-tops and a tumbled marble back splash.
MASTER BEDROOM
The master bedroom has vaulted ceilings, a king size canopy bed, designer fan, recessed lighting, a 32" LCV TV, clock radio, a large sliding patio door with access to the East facing deck. This large room has connected master bathroom with a glass tile lined shower, limestone flooring, granite counter-tops, tumbled marble back splash and a vanity area with seating. We believe this is the largest bathroom in the Niguel Beach Terrace complex.
KITCHEN
The kitchen was designed to integrate with the main living areas. From the kitchen you will be able to view both decks and be fully involved in any conversation taking place in the living room. All new appliances.

Why the Owner Chose Monarch Beach
Again, we bouth this home long before we ever imagined it as a vacation home. As the trend toward vacations homes grew, we saw it as a natural for this location. We have one of the finest beaches, not to mention one of the cleanest, in Southern CA at our steps. Having experienced vacation rentals at the ski slopes and other places and we had a pretty good idea of what not to do. Our vacation home was remodeled from the ground up with the short term guest in mind. Extremely clean, redesigned floor plan to open and connect living space, larger bathroom, extremely comfortable beds, high quality throughout.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Quiet, spacious, comfortable, very clean! No discarded/used furnishings from home.Everything was purchased new and is of quality at this vacation home. Going to the beach? We have the towels, cooler, umbrella, boogey boards, sand toys, chairs. Cooking? We have all of the spices, olive oil, quality cookware and utinsels. Large washer & dryer. Games, DVD's, Cable HDTV, internet, and a Nintendo Wii for your evening entertainment. Much More!!
Most direct route to the sand. Restroom at the top and bottom of the steps. Lots of steps but our kids have walked the steps since they were 3.
Weekly membership is available for use of their facilities. You may also schedule private lessons or court time for an extra fee. Facility has a fitness room, exercise room, sauna, steam bath and a po
Moderately priced restuarant with pretty good food. Much better lately than in previous years. Worth trying.
The market is Gelson's. Very good variety, deli, bakery, excellent service.$$$$$. There is also a pharmacy, CVS, and other small food places in the center. Starbucks also.
Visit the sea cave at low tide. Access via the Ocean Institute. Call us for more info.
California Historical Site. Worth seeing if interested in early CA history.
Our Favorite for healthy, low cost groceries. Less selection but much better prices than Ralph's or Gelson's.
Large grocery store. Should have everything you would need. Somewhat expensive, Higher prices than Trader Joe's but less than Gelson's. If shopping there, use the Ralph's "club card" that we provide o
Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Casual, right on the sand. If you want to experience the California lifestyle, this is a must. Call for reservations because the walk-up wait can be long.
Owner's Map of Monarch Beach
Young, fresh out of college, my cousin and I though it would be cool to have a place by the beach. So when the opportunity presented itself, we jumped at it. All the same, the financial committment was quite a strain back then. Fast forward 25+ years and the once sleepy, little beach town is now part of the "Gold Coast", home to the 4 & 5 Star resorts, the Ritz Carlton and the St Regis at Monarch Beach. Additionally, our complex is adjacent to a new billion dollar residential development, The Strand at the Headlands. Who knew?
So in keeping up with the Jones' next door; we have taken our 25 yrs of savings and transformed our 1983 condo into a new, upscale, 5 star quality vacation home.

Is a very nice condo. We had a great time. Condo is a short drive to it all, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, Knotts Berry Farm, Long Beach Aquarium and much more and short walk to the beach. Condo was beautifully decorated, very comfortable. This condo has it all, nicely stocked kitchen, great beds and linens, all the entertainment electronics, board games and beach equipment. Our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. Thanks

My family and I just completed our second visit at Robert and Ernie's Strands Beach Rental. The property is in a fantastic location and our three kids loved it. In fact, for the second year we rented their other unit and brought additional family members with us! We enjoy the condo because it is clean, modern, spacious, and has everything you could need from kitchen supplies to beach toys. Robert has been especially helpful in helping to familiarize us with the area by sending relevant information and taking time on the phone. We recommend this unit to anyone with a family with five or less. It is a walk to the beach and a very short driving distance to many of the popular SoCal attractions (Disney, Sea World, Legoland) Thanks Robert and Ernie!

My husband, son & I were fortunate enough to rent this condo for a full month. I can not say enough about how nice the condo itself was. It was just as pictured in all the info. It was very clean. The complex was great - very quite, great pool & spas, & great location. Dana Point was very convenient for all activities i.e. beaches, hiking, desert, L.A., San Diego etc. The condo was loaded with maps & local info that we used daily. This was our first experience with an owner rental - and I would definately recommend their condo. Everything was as agreed upon with absolutely no problems. I thank Robert & Ernie for their wonderful rental and overall great experience.

What a beautiful condo in picturesque location! My family has stayed at many vacation homes and this is one of the nicest we have stayed at. The owners have thought of everything, from the well stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, board games, Wii and large screen TV to the beach gear to make you comfortable at the beach (many toys, boogie boards, and beach chairs). The owners have remodeled the condo with a very clean modern beach decor. The showers in the calming bathrooms are very relaxing. The beds are marvelous, the linens so soft and the pillow are awesome (we actually had to buy new pillows once we returned home, we were spoiled during the trip). The owners actually called us to make sure we made it to the condo okay and let us know where to watch the fireworks over the 4th and to always remember to wear sunscreen! They really made us feel extremely welcome! I would highly recommend that you stay at the this condo on Strands Beach the next time you visit Orange County. You will be glad that you did!

The condo is decorated so tastefully I felt as if I were staying in a posh hotel, with the lovely tilework in the bathrooms and the plush bedding for sweet dreams. Every detail is well thought out so that all your needs for the perfect vacation are provided whether you are empty nesters like ourselves, or traveling with young children. We had a chance to check out some open houses while we were there and none of the other condos could hold a candle to this one. Everything here is new and clean and well-designed. Not only is the beach a stone's throw away, but on the last day we discovered San Clemente with it's quaint downtown...now we're going to have to come back since we only had a chance to sample two of its excellent eateries. I can't recommend this highly enough--not one complaint.

We recently stayed at the beach condo the first week of May, 2010. It provided a cozy place for my husband, 3 children and I to spend time as a family during my husband's military leave. We could not have picked a better spot!! The comfortable furnishings, great kitchen and wonderful selection of movies made us feel right at home. It was also a great place to come home to after a long day at Disneyland. We loved Dana Point and the beach access was a short walk across the street. Truly made our trip one to remember. Thanks for everything!! Doug, Dolly, Sarah, Elosia and Sophia Miami, Oklahoma

Thank you so much for the wonderful week plus in your condo. Our family loved Dana Point & really enjoyed relaxing in your lovely home & on the beach. Weather was fabulous - we could not have asked for anything better & we used the trails around the area extensively! Looking forward to heading back home to our little dog but will look back at our time in Dana Point very fondly. Thanks again for everything! Wendy O. Chanhassen, Minnesota
