Vicky's place is a most charming, peaceful and relaxing anywhere. We felt at home the moment Vicky met us on the steps at our arrival until it was time for us to leave. The grounds are spaceous and lovely with pool and flowers. I loved my morning walks to enjoy the grounds. The house is charming with beautiful art and a kitchen completely equipted. Vicky and daughter Pamela along with her dirivers Raul and Fernando helped us enjoy and come to love their fascinating part of Ecuador .We had a wonderful time and we highly recommend this charming guest house.

Very nice and well maintained home and beautiful property and garden. Even more beautiful than in the pictures. Two friendly dogs and one nice cat. Our host was very helpful to us during our stay and we recommend this location. Bus transportation into Quito is easy and cheap and this is a luxurious and relaxing place to come back to!

We stayed for the first 2 weeks of December. All positive comments in all reviews apply, simple as that. Pame took such great care of us, in such a great place, that we did not want to leave. Everything was better than expected.

My husband and I stayed in 'Casa Vicky' for a month in Sept/Oct 2011. It was THE most relaxing month of my entire life. Vicky and Pamela were wonderful hosts who ensured that every aspect of our stay was pleasurable. They could not have been more helpful. The house itself was extremely comfortable and homely and Christina (the maid) kept the place immaculate and did all our laundry! A bit out of the way if you want to eat out a lot ( ie you need a car or taxi to go anywhere), but drivers are readily available and inexpensive. Highly Recommended.

I was so pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Vicky's vacation house. The gardens, the house and especially having Vicky there to meet our needs were truly more than special - it was a once in a life time experience. We loved the pool and the views of the mountains from the gardens couldn't be better. The house itself was very well appointed, with all necessary conveniences. The attention to detail was impressive and Vicky's helper, Cristina, was especially wonderful since she took care of our cleaning and washing expertly. Thanks for a great experience Vicky!!!

We have had such a wonderful 3 weeks exploring Ecuador with our 2 children, ages 6 & 10. It’s hard to believe over. We couldn’t have possibly picked a better place to call home while in Ecuador; I agree 100% with all the glowing reviews already written about this fabulous home! The pictures do not do it justice, when you enter the gates you will feel like you just entered your own little “Ecuadorian Paradise”. Vicky and Pamela could not have been more friendly & gracious during our stay and their help was indispensable. Vicky took us grocery shopping, arranged rides, helped with phone calls, showed us around & even treated us all to ice cream. We used Vicky’s home as a base camp for our many trips. We first spent 5 amazing days at in the Amazon and 1 night in a fabulous riverside cabana at El Monte Lodge in Mindo, we’ve never seen so many hummingbirds in one place before and the zip-lines through the cloud forest canopy was a big hit with the kids. After Mindo, we were off to the Galapagos Islands where we spent 4 days on a 16-person catamaran exploring the islands. Since we were flexible in our schedule, going on Vicky’s helpful advice, we waited until we were in Ecuador to book our Galapagos trip; we were able to save a ton of money on a last minute deal! Our last full day we hired a wonderful guide to take us on a day trip to Cotopaxi National Park where we hiked 1km up the dormant glacier toped volcano, amazing! With all of our running around the Country, it was always such a great comfortable feeling coming back through the gates of our home-away from home to relax by the pool, play with the dogs and recharge for our next adventure. Thank you so much Vicky, we had such an amazing and unforgettable time with our children in Ecuador and I hope that whomever is reading this review, rents your house and enjoys their stay as much as we did!

We've just come in from the pool and it's hard to believe that our month at "Casa Vicky" is ending in a couple of days. Of course we are heading back to our busy life so we thought we would tell you about our stay before we head home. The first plus; we were 4 hours late getting into Quito and then a very long line at customs but our driver, Patricia was still waiting for us thankfully since it was 1:30 in the morning! We were greeted my Pamela, Vicky's daughter and after a quick tour of the house and making arrangements for a morning shopping trip we fell into bed. We used "Casa Vicky" as our home base and from there went zip lining and horseback riding in Mindo, to Banos for a soak in the hot springs, shopping in Otovalo, stepping over the equator and of course, the Galapagos Islands. We found the house very comfortable and enjoyed Quito, the pool, terrace and walks down the hill for ice cream and pastry. Vicky and Pamela were very helpful and had maps, directions and touring information available. We didn't rent a car and found Patricia, Raul and Edwin very helpful and knowledgeable. Christine made sure the house was spotless when we arrived and kept it and our laundry perfect. We were drawn to this rental because of the photos, amenities and excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. Come and explore Ecuador and make Casa Vicky your home away from home!

I have stayed in Vicky´s house in Quito with my family a few times and we all have enjoyed our stay very much. We took advantage of the swimming pool, the sunshine, the colorful gardens and the privileged view from the living room and the dining room. The house is comfortable and cozy and we were able to rest, have quality time with the children and sleep through the night every single day. Vicky, the landlord, lives in a small cabin close to the rental property which is very handy because she does not mind taking you around town or to the supermarket and supporting you in anything you might need. She makes herself available for your comfort but is also mindful of your privacy and your entitlement to having a peaceful, non-social time with your family. I highly recommend spending a few days in this property and I am looking forward to my next stay in Ecuador, a country where locals love foreigners and make them feel welcome and loved.

WOW, what a great place to spend your vacation! My wife and I just spent eight days there and were sad to leave. The listing for this home does not do it justice. It is much more. The house is well arranged and has everything you need to relax and enjoy your time there. The house is private, safe, and is on a lovely very large landscaped lawn, yet not far from the city. A big plus is Vicky, the homeowner, and her daughter Pamela. They live in another house on the property and both are very helpful if you need help with the language or want to know more about Quito and the area. They love Ecuador and we think you will too. Do yourself a favor and make this your choice for a place to stay while in Ecuador. We don’t think you will be sorry. And as Vicky says, “Come as a guest and leave as a friend”,we did.

The road to this property may have you thinking that you have made a mistake, but when the gates open you will not believe your eyes. A beautiful piece of property. The pictures on the internet do not do it justice. You will enjoy the peace and a gorgeous garden. The owner is a very kind person, she lives with her daughter near in the property and they are a very, very good help, especially when you don’t speck Spanish. Nearby is a very modern Mall and also a fabulous outdoor market were I bought vegetables and exotic fruits for the week. Nearby, it’s a great French restaurant: La Provence. Food is great quality and very good prices. And Quito, mere 20 minute bus ride costing all of 40 cents to go to all normal spots in Centro Historic, or if you are not feeling adventurous than Raul (a very dependable cab driver) will take you anywhere in the city for 10 dollars. So sit back, enjoy and you will find time an enemy because it will pass so quickly.

Why pay so much to get so little when you can pay so little and get so much. This rental has it all. A comfortable house on a beautifully landscaped piece of property. A big refreshing pool and people committed to making your stay enjoyable. So much for so little. you cannot find a better bargain. I first rented this property in 2008 and have been coming back every year since and have already booked for 2 months next year. Not only the best bargain you will find but I also hike I hike through the surrounding towns and feel totally safe doing so. Do yourself a favor, rent this property. You will be glad you did. So much for so little and nowhere else have I felt so safe in a country. Ecuador may be called a third world country but this property in strictly 1st class.

My family and I rented this property for 10 days. We were received promptly by a van at the airport that was suggested by Vicky at 11p.m. The driver was courteous and very familiar with the home and we were received by Vicky at her home in approximately 30 minutes. As we entered the property, even in the middle of the night, we could see the beautiful property and the home was lovely. Vicky had many printed pages in English or Spanish on the operation of the house and also what to do in the area, how to get everywhere and we were given a programmed cell phone that a taxi or van could be called and pick us up within a short time. We found transportation to be reliable and inexpensive to go to any parts of the city or excursions away from the home. When our stay ended, the van again was at our service to take us to the airport in a timely fashion. Overall, we had an excellent stay throughout our vacation.

Our experience in conocoto, ecuador was absolutely amazing. Definitely beyond our expectations in almost every aspect. We traveled there in mid september, and it ended up being the perfect time to go! we had wonderful weather the entire time. Our 8 days spent at Senorita Vicky's home was great. the house was beautiful, well kept, and had more amenities than we even knew were offered. We felt right at home immediately, after being welcomed by Vicky, and her pup Martin. I highly suggest this rental home if you ever have the opportunity to visit ecuador. It is only a short drive from quito, and Vicky has a few suggested drivers, all of which were fantastic and very accomadating. All in all, we are very thankful to have found Vicky and her home. It made all the difference in our trip, and made it even more memorable.

The property is set in a lush exotic garden in Conocoto away from the hustle and bustle of Quito, yet close enough to visit as well as within driving proximity of other places of interest such as Papallacta and Cotopaxi. This makes the vacation home an ideal retreat as it is perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. The swimming pool is warm and inviting and the barberque large enough to cook a feast. The house itself cosy and practical. The San Luis Mall is about 7 minutes drive making grocery shopping easy and convenient as well as access to medical attention if needed. Vicky Frey and her daughter Pamela are both gracious hosts, speaking English, Italian and German. They provided us with a wealth of information and went beyond the duties of landladies, truely setting out to make our stay as memorable and enjoyable as possible. Martin, the dog, is an added bonus. The most sweet, loving natured dog imaginable. Our children absolutely adored him!

This is our first experience with renting a home through VRBO properties and we couldn’t be more pleased. Vicky was a wonderful hostess and went out of her way to make our stay memorable. The house is ideal for families and provides all the necessary amenities to make you feel at home. Easy access to Quito’s bus service, as well as reliable van and taxi drivers allow this house to be a perfect base for sightseeing. In addition, the gardens, pool, and grounds provide a tranquil resting place after a busy day of being out and about. From the Kids – We loved the pool, hammock, pool table, the TV channels in English, and of course Martin! Our entire family recommends this property to anyone traveling to Quito.

My wife and I rented this property for the entire month of July, 2010. The property was spacious, clean, comfortable and convenient for its location very near Quito. Christina, the maid who came in three days per week to clean and do laundry, was a jewel. The gardeners who maintained the house, pool and grounds were thorough and competent. The owner, Vicky, and her daughter, Pamela, were helpful far beyond any of our expectations - in providing assistance and information, references for drivers and recommendation as to what to see and do in Quito and elsewhere. During our stay, we visited most or all of the landmarks in the new and old sections of Quito. We shopped the markets in Otovallo and Sangolqui, soaked in the thermal baths at Papallacta, stayed in a lodge in the cloudforest at Mindo (El Monte), and went up over 14,500 feet on the slopes of Cotopaxi. I was able (with Vicky's help) to play tennis regularly at the exclusive, gated Club Los Chillos country club. An added bonus: I arranged for some dental care there, which proved to be at least equal to, if not better, than the care I receive at home in the U.S., and the cost was roughly one-fifth what I might have to pay at home. We went there as guests, and left as friends.

Our first time in Ecuador was great. Vicky and her VRBO property made the vacation special and very comfortable. In southern Quito, the property was far enough away to be out of the hustle, bustle of the city but close enough for quick trips to Quito for dining, museums, and great cultural experiences. Vicky goes out of her way to make sure your Quito experience is everything you want. Or she can be hands off to give you as much privacy as you need. The house is on a dead end street that is very quiet and tranquil. The gardens and pool areas are beautifully maintained and spacious. Fruit trees in her gardens make for a quick Ecuadorian snack. Martine the dog became our vacation rental pet. Martine wanted me to tell everyone coming to please bring a large dog KONG toy. Kong only because anything less will be destroyed in milliseconds. Vicky and her daughter Pamela are fluent in English and thus communication is not an issue. The local bakery is a mandatory daily stop. Shopping in Otavalo and vicinity is great and makes for an exciting day trip. Grocery store is close and the kitchen has everything you need for dining in. We rented a car but driving in Quito is not for the faint of heart. Taxis can be arranged by Vicky and are cheap enough. If you want to go to Ecuador---go---stay here ---have fun. We did and we will return to Vicky's VRBO!!! Mark and Bridget, Houston Texas.

Our family stayed here for several days. Beautiful, spacious house that was wonderfully cozy. Extensive gardens to stroll, wonderful pool area-perfect for younger children as there is an enormous amount of area to run and play, all secured and gated in. Wi-fi was available for us to download our photos and share with our family instantly. The private drivers are THE BEST, worth every penny and then some. Without them our trip would have never been the same. Vicky is an incredibly vibrant and gracious host both helpful and inspiring with her enthusiasm of encouraging the exploration of Ecuador. The marketplace is a must(and the drivers will help you negotiate)! As is a trip to the highlands. Be sure to request Edwin as a driver and send him and Vicky our love!

Our family of 5 stayed in this wonderful villa for 8 nights. The comfortable spacious house, and fabulous grounds were only surpassed by the charm, graciousness and helpfulness of Vicky. She provides wonderful information and hooked us up with Edwin, an English speaking driver who took us on three outings. The excellence of the home certainly made up for being outside of Quito. Would love to stay again.

The first time you rent this property it will be for the wonderful house, lush surroundings and proximity to anything you want to see or do. The second and subsequent times you rent this property will be for the above reasons plus the owner, Vicky, and her daughters - always helpful and never intrusive. Raul and wife Patricia - cab drivers with an obvious love of their city. Edmundo - former Peace Corp worker turned tour driver and for Martine - if you never much liked dogs this one will change your mind. We miss them all.

We stayed in this lovely villa for a month and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was always a peaceful, beautiful refuge to come back to after the rigors of Quito. My husband and I enjoyed the adventure of taking the local buses into Quito as well as to the very large modern mall in the Valley. We would walk to and from the bus stops, but inexpensive taxis are available. A highlight of our stay was the Sangolqui Sunday fruit and vegetable market, again accessible by bus. We tended to return loaded with wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables; some might find it easier to catch a taxi back in that case. Truly a wonderful place to stay, and we enjoyed meeting the very helpful and friendly owner, Vicky and her daughter Pamela. We would definitely recommend it and would love to stay there again.

The listing description couldn't do justice. The home, yard, ammenitiets were fantastic. The swimming pool is heated but only used it once the second day after we arrived and where still acclimating once we where acclimated we were too busy to use it. The location is 20 minutes from downtown Quito, which is another world the evenings are quiet, the sky is clear. Conocoto is a small town and not alot of people speak english but they where patient with my pidgin. Vicky was very accomadating recommended a great guy to drive us into town very reasonably, we also where able to take a local bus from the bottom of the streetand it cost $.40 to get to quito. She also referred us to a variety of places to stay in different areas of the country. The house was proximal to Otovalo, Mindo Rain forest. I wil definately recommend this home to friends and family and also hope to return next year so that we can see some more of the country.

We are two senior women and a senior man who stayed here for a month, and a young couple in their early fifties who stayed here for seventeen days. This home was by far the best choice we made for our vacation because, not only did we stay at a beautiful home when we were not traveling, but we saved time and money by having all the help we got from Vicky on what tours to take, hotels, restaurants, etc. This home is beautiful, warm, has everything you could ever need, many English-speaking channels, drinking water, the grounds are lovely, the pool is big and warm, and the area is completely safe. The weather was in the seventies every day, and with a beautiful breeze. The sleeping accommodations and rooms were great. We all just loved Vicky's dog, Marteen. He is so gentle and beautiful. The views from Vicky's and all throughout Ecuador are beautiful. We loved taking walks down to the bottom of the street, enjoyed seeing the friendly people, would buy produce and yummy bread and bakeries. All of the people here in Ecuador are warm and friendly and always trying to help even when you try to use sign language to communicate. Vicky and Pamela did everything you could ever ask for to help make our vacation wonderful. We arrived late in the evening and Raul, who was our cab driver always at our disposal, and at a reasonable price, was waiting for us at the airport. She had asked me to email her a list of foods we would want for that evening and for breakfast the next morning, which was there waiting for us. And that is how it went on and on. Vicky saved us so much time and money by helping us to choose the best tours, restaurants, hotels, and at the most reasonable prices. My brother often stayed home because of health reasons and enjoyed all the luxuries of Vicky's home, while we two senior women traveled all over Ecuador by ourselves, and never had any problems. It was wonderfully safe, the people there were warm and lovely and always trying to help us. It seems I could go on and on, as I know we are so grateful we chose such a beautiful country, such a great home, and such wonderful and helpful people as Vicky and Pamela.

We just spent 8 nights at Vicky's place, and it was gorgeous. She is charming and really helpful - got us a local cab driver (Raul) who was willing to take us into Quito and bring us back several days for $10 each way. He even took the four of us with our luggage in a van to the airport for our 6:30 AM flight. Christina, the maid, did our laundry. We swam in the solar heated pool, enjoyed the gardens... Her cats are timid, her young dog isn't. Be forewarned that while Vicky assured us that she would take us to her place from Quito the first night, we needed to hire a cab to take all of our luggage - she has a very small car.

This wonderful home is near Quito, in a valley near this beautiful capitol of Ecuador with its many historical museums. This home has many gardens and a pool, and it is literally located in the clouds with a view of the valleys that surround Quito this very urban city of 2 million residents. Everything is located near this home or and a short taxi ride away where you will find many of the largest malls and many world class restaurants. The beautiful home has 3 bedrooms and several common rooms and many patios. The owner of this home does everything in her power to make your stay here a pleasure and provides you with help and information. Spanish is the main language spoken in Ecuador but the owner speaks fluent English and is always happy to assist you. This is truly a paradise which many travelers may easily miss.

I have rented dozens of villas in the past and this property ranks with the best, beautifully landscaped and a great pool. The house is built so that the gardens always come into view. Direct T.V. and internet make you feel right at home. You get so much for so little money. I have paid more for all the other rentals that I have had for a week than this beautiful villa cost for a month. What a steal. I will be back. Don´t hesitate to rent this one. T. Our stay here was wonderful. The accommodations were European smart and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and lush. Views were expansive. When we visit Quito again if this property is available we will stay here.

The house is very charming with an elegant mediterranean style, great for families or couple away from the city nestled in the beautiful barrio san miguel looking down the valley of chillos with a spectacular view at night. This was a great experience that my family and i will cherrish for the rest of our life.
