Aunt Kay's Cabin on beautiful Cedar Island Lake, one of 14 connected lakes on the Horseshoe Chain.

Cabin includes 3 private bedrooms, 2 semi-private bedrooms, 2 baths - 8 separate beds - nice for all guy or all gal trips. All rooms are generously sized, and cabin is approximately 2,000 square feet.

Located on a Private Peninsula - Aunt Kay's Cabin + Owner's Home on this property.

90 minutes from Minneapolis.

There are approximately 6 acres and 2400 feet of lakeshore on our peninsula, the property is very private. 70+ miles of lakeshore to explore on the Chain. Located on a deep water bay on Cedar Island Lake in the heart of the lake chain.

Play on the private beach, fish off the dock, spend the day exploring the Horseshoe Chain's 14 interconnected lakes by boat.

10 People MAXIMUM. Per County Ordinance, children of any age count as one person.

Year Purchased: 1995

We really enjoy hosting our guests' lake vacations. It's been fun to see our property through new eyes. They remind us why we moved here in the first place.

Why the Owner Chose Richmond

We built two homes on this peninsula in the mid-1990s. My husband and I live in one of the homes. Friends and family stay in the cabin when they visit (it's actually a year-round home - we just call it 'the cabin'). We haven't made use of the cabin in the summer months as much as we once did, so in 2007 we decided to open up our cabin as a vacation home rental.

The Unique Benefits of this Year-Round Home

We live about 100 yards from the cabin, so we are usually nearby if any questions come up but we definitely respect our guests' privacy. Aside from us, the nearest neighbors are across the bay. The fishing is great right off our dock, and our bay is perfect for water sports.

    • This past Summer I traveled to the Twin Cities to visit friends in the metro area. Rather than spend a 3 day weekend in an urban setting, my friends suggested that we check to see if we could book Aunt Kay's Cabin on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes. This place was perfect!!! The drive wasn't much more than an hour, and the cabin was awesome. We arrived just as the sun was setting over the lake, and were able to take in the beautiful view from the private dock. The next day we rented the pontoon boat, explored the lakes, and ended up swimming most of the day at the Crane Island sand-bar. The property is very private, (only one other house on the entire peninsula). Camp fire, fishing, swimming, exploring, sun-bathing, and a beautiful cabin! What more could one ask for?

    • We stayed at Aunt Kay’s lakeside home last summer. We enjoyed waking up to the peaceful music of the loons and doves, and viewing the great blue heron rookery on one of the islands on this chain of lakes. We filled each day with swimming, fishing, boating and relaxing. Surrounded by nature and beauty, this home has a panoramic view of the lakes and it is just a few steps down to the beach and dock area. It was just what we needed. We’ll be back! Darla, Austin, TX

    • Aunt Kay's Cabin is so much more than a cabin, it's a fabulous home with all the amenities of the most comfortable home. The lake is beautiful and the home has a great lake view and easy access. There's room for a family or a group of friends, and there's plenty to do whether you chose to enjoy the lake solitude or go to a nearby golf course, casino or one of several restaurants. A great spot for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation!
