Come enjoy the extraordinary beauty and warm friendliness of Grand Lake, Colorado with its abundance of Summer and Winter activities! Built in 2006, this well-appointed 2000+ sqft home is centrally located in Grand Lake, just above the very charming Grand Lake Village with its old west buildings, boarded sidewalks and friendly residents. It is adjacent to the historic Grand Lake Lodge property, which provides for a peaceful mountain retreat.
From the gorgeous great room with hand-built, river rock fireplace, or spacious deck, savor the beauty of majestic Mount Baldy and sparkling views of Shadow Mountain Lake and Grand Lake! Take in the starry sky on a warm summer night while relaxing on the deck. Watch the best fireworks in the Rocky Mountains from the deck on the 4th of July or New Year’s Eve. In the winter when road snowpack allows, hop on your snowmobile right outside the door and ride into town or hook up with a trail. There are so many things to do and memories to make in Colorado’s best-kept secret!
Grand Lake Village and Grand Lake are within easy walking distance at less than one half mile away. Shadow Mountain Lake is less than one mile away. You’ll have easy access to over 100 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, enjoying the lakes, or shopping, and eating in town. Lake Granby is just a few miles down the road.
The West entrance to a national treasure – Rocky Mountain National Park, where you may encounter moose, big horn sheep, or elk herds, is a little over two miles away. Incredible Colorado skiing is nearby with Sol Vista Ski Resort only twenty minutes away; Colorado’s playground - Winter Park Ski Resort only forty minutes away; and Steamboat Ski Resort, with its legendary champagne powder is a little over an hour away!

We had 3 families come together to meet our newest grandson born just before Christmas! So, with a newborn and 7 month old we LOVED the private space, individual bedrooms and bathrooms. The family room and kitchen provided great space to gather together and the views were even more beautiful than the pictures. We enjoyed snowmobiling in the mountains, snow shoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park, golf course, and nearby Adams Falls and even got to watch the Viking/Packer game in town! This was a perfect setting for our families to gather and the home provided absolutely everything we could need. The fireworks on New Years Eve were spectacular as well! The Owners were so easy to work with, as this was our first time renting. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with our families and we would highly recommend to anyone wanting a great getaway!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My husband and I spent three weeks here--each having our own bed and bath--and when the kids all arrived, they took over the downstairs. It was perfect. Wine on the deck overlooking the lake, youngsters with lots to play with, and close to town to take advantage of the local haunts and the marvelous beach and paddleboarding on Grand Lake. We highly recommend and the owners were marvelous with their quick response to questions both before and during our stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Little did we know our stay would be peak time of the aspen trees and the elk rut season. The house and Grand Lake exceeded all of our families expectations. We kept a daily journal to highlight the expected or unexpected activities of the day. In your guest book we wrote about our stay. Please feel to share. What a trip to remember as well as Bob celebrating his 70th birthday with his family. Did you notice the little clockmaker fixed the clock?Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The perfect home base for a family vacation

We gathered our family of 6 and flew from Florida to Colorado for a family vacation. We wanted to avoid the typical tourist crowds and, since Dad grew up in Colorado, we knew that Grand Lake would be a perfect spot to use as a home base. The town is small enough to be friendly and easy to get around in, big enough to have all the necessary amenities and close to everything that makes you love the mountains. We rented horses at the bottom of the hill and went horseback riding into Rocky Mountain National Park, 20 minutes away we rented a pontoon boat for a day of exploring and fishing on Lake Granby, made a right turn at the bottom of the hill and drove to the top of Trail Ridge Road (that's a little scary but stunning views with several stops to take pics of elk, dear and other wildlife), 30 minutes down valley got us to Granby for a day of river rafting on the Colorado River and an hour up the Colorado River valley got us to the Winter Park ski resort where we had tickets to the grand opening of the summer resort with alpine slide, bike lift and downhill trails and tons of amusements for everyone. The house is relatively new, has all the modern conveniences and the view from the deck is panoramic. The humming birds literally come within few feet of you as they make trips back and forth to the humming bird feeder and it's the perfect place to have watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee and the sunset with an ice cold drink. By the way, the road up the hill is very steep and, unless you are in really great shape, walking to/from town is not on the recommended list. - especially after an evening hanging out with the locals at Grumpy's Saloon. Everyone had a great time and we'd come back to this house in a New York minute.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This was a great property! It was exceptionally clean, well appointed, very spacious and was very easy to find based upon the directions provided. We used the house for a "girl's get away" and were thrilled. The owners are easy to work with and honest and the house was fantastic. I'd definitely stay here again, without hesitation!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is the third time we have stayed at this place and my group loves it! In fact we have come to call this OUR Grand Lake home!!!! The location is great (although the steep muddy hill can be a trick to navigate), the accommodations are great, and the price is great! My only MINOR constructive criticism would be that if you offer the tremendous amenities that you do (like a humidifier) you offer enough for everyone to have one...... we all had to fight over that humidifier!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We (3) adults stayed here for Presidents weekend. This home is beautiful! It has everything you need to have a relaxing fun filled stay in Grand Lake. Love the garage, the morning temperatures were in the single digits each morning of our stay and it was nice to have the truck warm from being inside. Incredible kitchen with everything you need.. The bedrooms were just comfy and cozy, beds were a dream to sleep on. Firepleace just adds so much to the home. Went and celebrated in town with the Flight for Life Poker Run contestants, wonderful bunch of locals and visitors. We have stayed at some Homeaway, VRBO rentals before, and this has been the nicest one for us. We will be booking again for a summer visit, and bringing the grand kids, and great grandparents. Thank you Mike and Carole for everything, your home is amazing.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Had a great weekend at this house in Grand Lake. The house was perfect for our party of 10 - plenty of room to spread out and enough bedrooms for everyone. We had three generations and had great times sharing meals, watching the playoffs, and playing games around the large table. Snowmobiling at On the Trail Rentals was great and near by. Even though it was January, we were actually able to sit out on the south-facing balcony one day in the sun. Carole and Mike were great to work with and quick to respond to our questions with answers and suggestions. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we could have wanted and beds were very comfortable. Overall, a beautful house and a weekend to remember. Exactly what we were looking for. We'd love to return another time.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Hello, we are Mike, Carole and Matt from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We love to travel and decided to purchase a small slice of paradise in Grand Lake - our favorite location in Colorado! The house is not a 'rental', it is our vacation home that we occupy occasionally throughout the year and truly enjoy sharing with guests. We've given the house the nickname of 'The Office on the Lake'. Feel free to tell envious friends and family that you are hard at work 'at the office'. Cheers!
Why the Owner Chose Grand Lake:
When we bought the house we wanted to be able to walk into town but still have the peaceful serenity we enjoy with the empty space behind our home where we often see wildlife. The perfect location for us was on a hill directly north of the town. Our backyard opens up to an unimproved area that is owned by Grand Lake Lodge. We have ~15 acres that separates us from the Lodge. It is less than a 1/2 mile walk down the hill into town. We think you’ll love the location. We've enjoyed being close to town but also enjoyed seeing moose, elk and deer in our own yard. We believe it's the perfect combination of lake/mountain views, close proximity to town and peaceful mountain serenity. It is true mountain lodging at its best.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Grand Lake is a year round destination. During the summer you can enjoy boating on the 3 lakes, hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, 4th of July fireworks, and the list goes on.
During the winter months Grand Lake is the snowmobiling capital of Colorado with over 100 miles of groomed trails. Skiing choices are numerous between the cozy Solvista resort nearby, Colorado's play ground at Winter Park and legendary champagne powder of Steamboat Springs.
Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with it amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.
