Year Purchased: 1999
I'm a writer married to a programmer. We have two fabulous children, a boy and girl (shown here!), who are fourteen and twelve. We also have three dogs we love very much. This house is our much-beloved summer home; it's available for rent when we're not using it ourselves. We live most of the year on the south shore of Long Island.
Why the Owner Chose Montauk
My great-grandmother lived in Montauk for fifty years, and both my mother and I grew up spending a lot of time out here and we love it. My grandmother's house had to be sold after her death, but I was lucky enough to be able to buy this house back in 1999, which is only a few doors down from Nana's house (the cute gray house on Old Montauk Highway by School Lane).
The Unique Benefits of this House
You can watch the waves roll in on the beach from the deck up top, and stare at the sea from the sunroom. It's so relaxing! The beach is directly across the street, so it's easy to have a lovely beach walk in the morning or evening, and there's nothing to block the view. The house is older and decorated in a vintage style, with a lot of charm.
