As we sat out on the balcony (our treehouse) eating breakfast each morning, we would marvel at our good fortune in discovering Cabarete and this lovely, quaint apartment. How wonderful to have the time to watch banana leaves unfold and gheckos climb the palm trees. The industrious and plentiful red-headed woodpeckers were also a delight to watch amongs the palm, breadfruit, banana and graprefruit trees. Thanks for such a comfortable bed, all the great kitchen equipment and the space to set up the computer. Hardly ever needed air conditioning because the fans were so efficient. All in all, a great experience.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We were very happy with the unit and the complex. It is ideally located within walking distance to everything. The rooms are large and the place is decorated nicely. I loved the Caribbean color scheme! Both the unit and the complex was clean and well maintained and the staff were friendly. It is on the 3rd floor, so if stairs are an issue, don't choose this unit. We stay in condos every time we go somewhere and I can say that this place was outfitted the best. There were plenty of dishes, glasses, and cookware, every appliance, storage containers, towels, and bed ware. Karl send us so much information about Cita Del Sol, the unit, and Cabarete, that it made is very easy for us. Karl - thank you - all of it was most appreciated! I would have put excellent as my rating, but there is one problem with the place and sadly, it is beyond Karl's control. Behind the unit there is a street of local homes. A rooster lives there and woke us at 5:30 every morning. Shortly after the rooster wakes up, so do the locals and they play merengue music from the time they wake up until nighttime. I like merengue, but it would be nice to have a little quiet to take a nap sometimes! Luckily, the locals go to bed early so you can sit out on the very nice balcony in the evenings and enjoy the quiet. Speaking of quiet - that is how I would describe Cabarete. I had seen postings saying it was a young place with plenty of nightlife. Although there are a lot young kite boarders and quite a few restaurants on the beach, there is just about no nightlife. We had poor weather so we did not get to the beaches a lot. We did go to a beautiful local's beach in Rio San Juan. If you can find the little dirt road on the left a little beyond the turnoff for the Blue Lagoon, you can get there. Cabarete beach was nice as well. We spent some time in El Choco National Park and took out horses on the beach. Even with the poor weather, we loved the Dominican Republic and we would definitely go back. If you are looking to rent a motorbike, I can recommend Duarte's Rent Motor in Cabarete. His place is just outside the gate of Cita Del Sol (to the right). He gave a fair price and the bike worked perfectly. Would I recommend this condo? Yes. I thought it was a great place with a great price. I would mention the day time noise. However, the cost of the condo is so reasonable and the place is really wonderful, so I think that unless the noise is a real issue, you would be happy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hello Christine. Thanks for the kind and fair assessment. We are happy to report that the merengue music issue has been resolved. Our administrator met with the music-loving Dominicans next door and an amicable settlement was reached. As for the rooster, well yes, he's still there happily fathering free-range chickens. No solution as yet on that one. As for the night-life, there are 2 discos in town, one named the Bamboo and the other Ono. Both start after 11 p.m. Fortunately, the music cannot be heard at Cita del Sol. We are glad you enjoyed our apartment and your stay!

Very nice apartment, in a central location in Cabarete, 1-2 mins walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. Very quiet (ok, so there was a rooster in the morning). I stayed in it for over a week and had a great time. The owner is extremely helpful and responsive over email.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Awesome location! very central, close to all amenities and the beach. A little noisy next door (rooster going off all night and barking dogs) but you do get used to it after a while!Condo very clean and cozy. Grounds are very good and other tenants very friendly. Would definitely go back (with earplugs)Owner response: Any time that we have stayed at our property we have never heard any barking dogs. In fact the only dogs that we have seen were on the beach in places used by the locals and during the day. We did hear the rooster first thing in the morning but we were able to go back to sleep right away. Also we only heard it for a couple of days and then we slept through it.

Your apt was very nice and confortable, I liked it so much that I came home and made the choice to buy there and stay the winters in your complex. The people there are much more friendly then in Punta Canna and the access to everything is great. I got the chance to meet the residence and enjoyed their company. Thanks for the chance to change my life. DANDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/5

We really like the location of the apartment: centrally located, steps from the beach, and yet not loud at all. It was really nicely decorated and furnished, and it was very organized in the kitchen as far as where everything was and having cooking needs like salt and pepper, spices, etc. We also loved the balcony, it was really comfortable and a great place to sit and read in the evenings after the beach before it got dark. We had such a fantastic time, and of course a large part of that was that we really enjoyed the apartment. Everything that we needed was there for us, and it was easy to find everything, both in the apartment and in Cabarete. I would absolutely recommend your apartment to a friend, as well as stay there again myself next time I go to Cabarete (I'm sure there will be - my friend and I were so sad to leave and are already trying to plan our next trip). Thank you again so much for everything, we loved it!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4
