Keywords:  Ocean front w/ private beach. Only 12 bedroom/ 12 bath house on the island. Spectacular Views.

Located on the north end of Topsail Island, North Topsail Beach is a barrier island with the Atlantic on one side and the Intra Coastal Waterway on the other. Our home has its' own beach on the ocean. Since North Topsail is primarily residential, the beaches are seldom crowded. In the summer, our weather is usually about 10 degrees cooler than the mainland because of those off shore breezes.

Since we are only a 2 minute drive to the bridge to the mainland, grocery and other shopping and restaurants are only about a 7 minute drive. The home was custom built by the owner in 2007. It has been elegantly and tastefully furnished and outfitted.

The entire house has been professionally decorated and it is beautiful. The house is a duplex with exactly the same configuration on each side. There are interior door connections, between each side, on the 1st and 2nd floors.

The first floor has 8 bedrooms with 6 baths, a laundry room and 2 outside showers w/change rooms. There are 4 queen size bedrooms with baths on this floor, 2 bedrooms each with twin beds(converts to a couch)and a TV/DVD, and 2 bunk rooms that sleep 12.

The second floor has 2 king master suites with bath, TV/DVD & private balcony. Also, on the second floor are 2 great room, 2 kitchens, 2 dining areas, 2 45" flat screen TV/DVD's, 2 fireplaces, those incredible views, wrap around decks, 2 outdoor gas grills, 2 half baths.

The 3rd floor has 2 penthouse suites each with a TV/DVD, large private deck & fabulous water views.

All the bathrooms have custom tile, white marble sinks and vanities, and exhaust fans. 4 of the bathrooms(2nd & 3rd floors) have custom glass shower doors. All of the bathroom and bedroom doors are solid wood to cut down on noise transference. There are windows in the penthouse suite showers from which you can watch the boats sail up the Intra Coastal Waterway.

A truly stunning ocean front masterpiece, combining the practical and dramatic. This duplex gives the curb appearance of a large single family home. Each side provides 2,500 sq ft of living area + 1000 sq ft of decks & balconies with fabulous water views. Each side has a large 2 car garage & plenty of room for your extras. There is a dumbwaiter, on each side, to take luggage & groceries from the garage level to the 1st & 2nd floors.

Besides having great curb side appeal and architectural beauty, it is the only house where all the bedrooms, because of unique side balconies and decks, have both an ocean view and an intracoastal waterway view. These private balconies also provide a great place for some quiet time.

All the walls, ceilings, closets, and stairways are insulated to cut down on noise transference.

This is a fully equipped luxury property. Come stay with us and we know you, like many of our guests, will want to come back again and again.

Why the Owner Chose North Topsail Beach

Jim wanted an oceanfront house ever since he was 10 years old. That was when his parents rented a house on the beach facing the Atlantic Ocean in Long Beach, NY. He fell in love with the sounds of the shore break, the cool breezes, playing in the waves and building sand castles.

About 13 years ago, Jim found Topsail Island. It wasn't as busy as Myrtle Beach or the Outer Banks. But, the quality of the uncrowded sandy beaches and caribbean-like, always changing ocean colors, caught his eye. Also, he liked that the climate was more moderate than the steamy more southern states and the average ocean temperatures were much warmer than the colder northern states.

Thankfully, it is still the same today

The Unique Benefits at this House

Since there is a quarter mile of undeveloped oceanfront land next door, you will have uncluttered, extended views of the ocean, the beach, the pelican formations, the porpoise pods, and the early morning shrimp boats. And, you will have no problem finding a good spot for your beach chair or to fish from, on our private beach.

Our house is the only one on the island that has the unique feature of every bedroom having an ocean view. Jim built side balconies off the 2 bedrooms that face the Intra Coastal Waterway. So, occupants of those rooms just need to walk through the glass doorway with their cup of coffee and find some quiet time as they have magnificent views of the ocean and the Waterway.

Paulette went beyond the normal bamboo beach furnishings. She hired the best interior decorator in the area. You will find that not only is the furniture and art work upgraded to a more elegant yet tasteful style, but you will probably have one of the best nights sleep on our very comfortable pillow top mattresses. Linens and towels, for which there is no extra charge, have been upgraded as well.

If you are into cooking, like Jim is, there is a gourmet kitchen waiting for you. It was designed for several cooks to be busy at the same time. 2 sinks, with disposals, 2 refridgerators, extra wide working areas, 50' of granite countertops, gas stove, and all the utensils.

If you're not into cooking, like Paulette is, there is a gas grill on the deck just outside the kitchen door. Unlike most of the other island houses, you do not have to walk down several flights of stairs to start a charcoal fire in the rusty beach barbecue.

Sunrise -- Sunset

Guest: Marsha072009 (Tennessee)
Date of Stay: 07/18/09 Review Submitted: 08/04/09

We have our family reunions every 3-4 years. For our 2009 reunion, we decided on a beach vacation. We were lucky enough to get both sides [Sunrise and Sunset] of this beautiful beach home. We wanted to focus on getting re-acquainted with each other rather than the go-go-go of previous family reunions. This beach house was a perfect way to accomplish this goal. While there was enough activity via side-trips to the Crystal Coast, Wilmington, Jacksonville & Myrtle Beach to satisfy some ‘tourist-y’ excursions, it was nice that the house was located on a quiet beach. It was like having a private beach due to the way the other houses in the area are either far away or set back so not to obstruct the view. What a beautiful place for strolling the beach, building sand castles, constructing a ‘homemade’ kiddies’ pool in the sand under a large colorful beach umbrella & even ocean kayaking for one member of the family. We were a little concerned that it was a duplex rather than one large home; however, we quickly got used to getting about the two places. It even became a benefit that there were two sides as the Sunset side unofficially became our ‘quiet side’ used by family members who wanted to ‘escape’ to a place where they could have some quiet reading, working or computer time … away from the hustle-bustle of the Sunrise side where family games/conversations were held, meals prepared, babies played & was frequently filled with insane laughter! On one night, each side had a different DVD movie showing so each family member could choose a ‘theatre’ to attend. The views from the house are wonderful. The decks off the main living spaces are interconnected by a large gate that we kept open as one of two ways to move back-n-forth between the two sides. 10 of the 12 bedrooms have their own balcony/deck. I was able to quickly/quietly go to our balcony off the 3rd floor Sunrise Queen Suite to enjoy the sunrise each morning. There is nothing as beautiful as a sunrise at the beach! A sunrise brings the excitement of a new beginning while a sunset brings on a reflection of days past … both beautiful in their own way. And, a family reunion is a time for looking to the future with the new generation and for remembering the past. How appropriate that our reunion site was the Sunrise/Sunset home! All in all, this beautiful beach home is a place that our family would be very willing to consider as a family reunion location when we are ready to plan our next one.

Owner response:Thank you Marsha for your kind words about our beautiful beach house. It was designed with family reunions like yours in mind. We are happy to hear that yours was such a success. We look forward to your return. Jim and Paulette

Best Week Ever

Guest: Jamoke (Kennesaw, GA)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/13/11

We had our family reunion this past week at this wonderful beach home. We rented both sides of the house and used every square inch of it. We had 20 adults and 10 children 5 and under and it worked out wonderful. The beach was beautiful and we enjoyed a full week of great weather. If you need a place this large this is the place to be. There was wonderful space in the common areas and the bedrooms and baths were just right. All the decor is lovely and it made for a relaxing fun filled week. The listing is spot on. We found the location easy to get to with good shopping nearby for food and trinkets. We also went to the turtle hospital and enjoyed that as well. Working with the owner was great and they were very helpful, attentive, and accomodating. I would recommend this home to anyone and would eagerly return. The beach access was the best possible and we enjoyed fishing, wading, shelling, boogie boarding, suntanning and watching the porpoises swim past. I don't believe it could get any better. We never ate out as no one really wanted to leave. We prepared all our meals in the wonderfully stocked kitchen. Plenty of space to prepare big meals and spread out and enjoy them together. I wouldn't be able to complain about a thing so don't hesitate to book this wonderful beach house.

Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words regarding our beach house. Yes, it is fun to watch the porpoises playing in the back yard, as they put on a pretty good show. Come back for another visit in the near future. Paulette

Pop's 90th celebration

Guest: Kathy (Newport, NC, USA)
Date of Stay: 03/24/11 Review Submitted: 03/28/11

Paulette, WOW!!! The entire family (28 of us stayed at the house) all said the same thing: I couldn't have picked a better location or house for our family reunion to celebrate my father's 90th birthday. Your house is beautifully decorated with the most wonderful 360 view. And the kitchen and living area was just perfect for entertaining. Other cousins who came on Saturday to wish Dad a happy birthday agreed. We had a great long weekend and much of that was due to your great vacation home with plenty of room. Thank you so much!! We hope we can come back another time.

Owner response:Hi Kathy, Thank you for taking the time to write such complimentary words about your fathers 90th birthday celebration at our beach house. We were happy and honored you would select our place for such a memorable family reunion. Hope to see you become one of our many repeat guests. Paulette

It was so accommodating, warm and homey. The pictures on the website just doesn’t do it justice. It is easy to see that this house was built with love and thoughtfulness. The kitchen was well used this weekend as we cooked lots of Cajun food. I loved all of the upgraded appliances and can’t just say enough about the granite bar and countertops. We made amazing memories there this weekend. Thank you for making this sad time a little easier with a home that felt like “home”.We hope to be able to rent again when my son returns from Afghanistan. God Bless and Thank you

Date of Stay: 03/01/08 Review Submitted: 02/10/11

Kevlar Dayton, OH Review Submitted: August 3, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008 We had a great time, even with the sometimes cool, windy and rainy April weather. There always seemed to be enough time each day to play on the beach, and for the adults to exercise by running and kayaking . Everyone enjoyed spending the rainy time in the Great Room of the house playing board games and relaxing by the fireplace. The kids loved the bunk bed room and spent hours playing in there when it was raining. Also, our house guests thought your home decorating skills were outstanding. The picture in the downstairs hallway was a favorite. Thanks again, we had a wonderful time. My son took pictures of the beach and the house to his class for show-and-tell. Antoinette Fairfield, Ct, USA Review Submitted: June 30, 2010 Date of Stay: April 2010 This house is GORGEOUS. We were so pleasantly surprised at how clean and well kept the house and all of the supplies were. Each bedroom was beautifully decorated in a unique fashion. The kitchen was amazing. The living room was unbelievable. We visited local restaurants and local stores, we went sight seeing and fishing off the pier, AND YET after all of those things, all we really wanted to do was get back to the beach house. The views of the ocean and beach are so satisfying that we found ourselves enjoying "staying home" more than "going out". WE ALL LOVED IT SO MUCH!! Best Beach Vacation Ever

Guest: Beach Fun (Colorado Springs, CO)
Date of Stay: 10/01/10 Review Submitted: 02/10/11

Review Submitted: October 30, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010 Having never rented a home before for vacationing I wasn't sure what to expect. Well the house was more amazing than we could ever imagine. We stayed on the Sunrise side. It was so cozy, warm, inviting, and the views so spectacular that we only left the house once to eat out and get supplies. (Plan on cooking in so you won't have to leave. The kitchen is fantastic and well equipped.) While we were out our 3.5 year old said,'When are we going back to our house on the beach? I like our house.' Our entire family had such a wonderful restful time, from the 70+ member to the 9month old and all ages in between. The beach location was awesome. It was clean, and nice and quiet. We got to watch the dolphins from the main balcony as our 3.5 year old squealed in complete and utter delight. Really, I can't say enough about the house, it's layout, the thoughtful touches, beautiful decor, warm atmosphere, and location location location. We hope to be back next year or sooner.
