La Casa Arriba is a unique guest house on the hill above the historic center of San Miguel de Allende with three independent casitas for short or long term vacation stays.
Arriving through the antique entry door the visitor will find several terraces lush with plants stepping down the hill, leading to the central garden with sitting areas around a quiet fountain and ancient mesquite tree. Stairs beside the fountain lead to the Terraza del Cielo roof terrace with an expansive view of the town’s famous historic district and at least 7 of its beautiful churches. The roof terrace is partially under cover, and is furnished comfortably for relaxing, rain or shine. Guests in all three of the casitas have use of the roof terrace, intermediate terraces and central garden. Opening onto the garden is the shared Garden Kitchen for use by our guests or for the preparation of delicious traditional meals by our staff cook for their enjoyment.
The three casitas are all self-contained units with private entrances, private baths, sitting areas, gas fireplaces, private terraces or patio, and desks for writing or creative work. The casitas offer enough privacy for unrelated guests to occupy La Casa Arriba, or an extended family can occupy all of the casitas, enjoying a balance between privacy and space for shared activities. Our intent is to promote a quiet relaxing holiday and the exploration of San Miguel’s many delights. Maid service is provided, and the many plants are cared for by our gardener. Portable cell phones are available for use by our guests, but there is no house phone.
La Casita Escondida is a quiet suite of rooms with a private stair off the main entry. It includes a separate sitting room, large bedroom, kitchenette, private bathroom with shower and private patio with a wall fountain. It has direct access to the central garden, the Garden Kitchen and the Terraza del Cielo roof terrace. It is furnished in a simple Mexican style with traditional mesquite furniture, equipal chairs and wool rugs from Oaxaca.
La Casita Terraza has a large bedroom with sitting area overlooking the central garden and its fountain, and a grand and private terrace overlooking the town’s historic district. The large 5-fixture bathroom has a combination tub/shower and shares the terrace’s view. The casita has a kitchenette and has access to the Garden Kitchen and Terraza del Cielo roof terrace through the central garden just outside its door. The room is furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques, traditional Mexican furniture and handcrafts.
La Casita Alhambra is a very large room with areas for sitting, writing, sleeping, and dining. The casita has a kitchen, private bath, and an exotic Moroccan-style den with lounging pillows around a central fountain. It also has a private terrace with a view overlooking the historic district. The furniture and finishes in the entire suite have an exotic flair. Because of its large size and fully functional kitchen it is suitable for extended stays. |
