Location: La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico (Half Block from the water of Bay of La Paz and the Malecon) View Map
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths (Sleeps 8)
We would love to welcome you to our home by the sea. This house is a 3 story house with a terrace and balconies that have views of the Sea of Cortez. La Paz is known for its sunsets and this house shows them off at their best.
The 3 bedroom, 4 and a half bath house is located one half block from the waters of the Bay of La Paz. Along the shore of the bay is what the locals call the malecon (the wharf); this man-made walk parallels the shore of the Sea of Cortez. No traffic crosses the malecon so it is a relaxing walk. The locals walk it morning and night. They walk (or run) it in the early morning for exercise and after dinner as a social event. Good coffee and espresso are available at shops with outdoor tables. And there is always ice cream! And now a wonderful new gelato shop opened a block from the malecon.
The water of the bay is a half block away. Although not a true swimming beach, you can get wet and sit under a palapa to soak up the sun. Kayak rentals are close by. Restaurants are close by for margaritas and food; the closest one is just down the block. Swimming beaches are not far away; busses can take you out there or there are many rental car places, one a block away.
The house is about 5 blocks from the city center and the open city square. You might see a wedding party coming from the Catholic Church here. Fifth Avenue Cafe, very much like our Starbucks is on the corner across from the church. They sell coffee of course, but also beer!
La Paz, the capital city of Baja California Sur, is a city of 200,000 friendly people. It is a large enough city to have cultural events but it is small enough to retain its charm. If you are in La Paz for a week, there is a high probability of seeing a parade of the local community.
There are many restaurants within walking distance; a pizza place (Pizza Rin Rin)is a half block away. Fresh seafood (Los Mariscos Restaurant)is a block away. A Chinese restaurant is on the malecon, 2 blocks from the house. There are a number of Europeans in La Paz who have opened ethnic restaurants. Seafood is fresh and tasty. Plan on going fishing your first day in La Paz and use the handy, well-equipped kitchen to cook your catch!
The house is in the city with convenient shopping, internet cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores within blocks. The Arumburo grocery store, within walking distance, is well stocked with food and tequila choices. A taxi stand is a block and a half away. Within walking distance is the local Ibarra pottery shop; it is unusual to visit here and not buy a keepsake to take home. A rental car agency (Eurocar) is a block away. Other major rentals (Budget, Avis) are within walking distance also. There are 2 Spanish schools within walking distance.
One bedroom with its own bath is on the bottom floor (very private) and two are on the third floor, each with their own bath. One bedroom on this floor has a balcony. Above the living quarters is a terrace with a charcoal barbecue grill. It is great for watching the frigate birds fly, for watching the boats coming and going into port, and for watching the famous La Paz sunsets.
There is a balcony off the living room. There is a washer and dryer. Hair dryer is supplied, as are towels and linens.
If you love the convenience of a city, with a wonderful climate and views of the water, you'll love your stay here.

Why the Owner Chose La Paz
Our home is in a Mexican neighborhood in a true Mexican city with many modern amenities. La Paz welcomes tourists, yet the city retains its Mexican identity. We love that about it!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Walking distance of virtually everything you would want to see or do: many wonderful restaurants (e.g. fish tacos at McFishers or upscale Las Tres Virgenes), the no-traffic "boardwalk" along the shore of the Sea of Cortez, ice cream, shopping, downtown, banks, rent-a-car places, bus station, well-stocked grocery store, liquor store.
Owner's Map of La Paz
We sailed to La Paz in 1996-97 and feel in love with the city. We vacationed there a few times and the pull became strong to spend more time there.
