Or, explore ancient Indian ruins at Mesa Verde (40 miles from Durango). Winter Season: Our "Casa" is one of the few, true, ski-in/ski-out (ski into front door and out back door) condominium locations at Durango Mountain Resort -meaning that you do not have to haul your skis or board across parking lots or up stairs or elevators! Skiing, snowboarding, snow biking, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing are just out the front and back door. Snow cat skiing is also available nearby as well as extreme skiing at Silverton Mountain Resort, just 30 miles away.
There is plenty of fun for the non-skiers as well. Take a whirl on the snow coaster (tubing), cruise the backcountry on a snowmobile tour, dog sled ride, ice skate, sled, and enjoy the unbelievable star gazing tours nightly. And, of course, do not forget the great shopping, art galleries, fine dining, Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and hot springs nearby in historic Durango, Colorado.
