Thanks for making our yearly Women's Weekend Away totally WONDERFUL! From long walks to hours of heartfelt talks in the hot tub, we really will treasure our time here. Thanks for the well stocked kitchen, all the movies, and little extras that made it such a comfortable stay. We hope to return next year.

What a great house this was. Loved the hot tub. The beds were comfy. We loved the big variety of books and movies. We all wish we could stay longer. I love the pine cones and bubblegum seeds. We also saw tons of birds. We put the bird seed out and they came to it. We saw cool birds like cardinals, blue jays, blackbirds, goldfinches. Beautiful, beautiful view. My favorite thing in the house is the JUKE BOX!! I was dancing!! And surprisingly I knew most of the songs!! I am only 11.

I spent a long weekend (3 nights) at the lazy days river retreat with my wife (we are both 26) the first weekend of February. I took a long time to decide which cabin would be best for us (most in Shenandoah and West Virginia, Eastern Panhandle at least, are typically for groups and have 3-4 bedrooms), but ending up choosing this cabin because of the fantastic reviews and the amenities. The cabin itself was spotless (yes, there are stink bugs, but name one cabin that does not have them) -comfortable carpet and an amazingly comfortable master bed. Unlike most cabins, this one has a huge flat screen TV, and a library of videos to keep you entertained when board games or reading lose their touch. The porch was beautiful, though we really only exploited the hot tub and the gas grill (the most relaxing hot tub experience I have ever had). The cabin is within the close vicinity of other properties, but has plenty of land/wooded areas around it that are both private and off the premises. We got unexpected snow that really made our trip amazing. The kitchen has anything and everything you would need to cook. The location of the cabin was very easy to get to (the only unpaved road that we used to get to the cabin was easy to navigate in a small 2 door coupe), and close enough to a bunch of places to go hiking and sightseeing. Eric was an absolute pleasure to deal with and was extremely accommodating of our needs. Only thing I wish I had brought were quarters because the Jukebox has House of the Rising Sun, which would have really sealed the deal. Will absolutely plan a trip in the future!
Owner response:Thanks for the kind words, Jonathan! Megan and I are delighted that you and your wife had such a great time celebrating her birthday with this "surprise" three day stay at our cabin. We hope to "see" you both in the near future... It's wonderful folks like you and your wife that makes renting our cabin out so worthwhile! :)

We have revisited our home away from home. Words cannot express how much we enjoy this escape from our daily responsibilities! We spend the 6 months in between our visits anticipating our next time here and we thoroughly enjoy each minute that we spend here. The weather was perfect, 50s-60s during the day with bright sun and 30s-40s at night. That enabled us to enjoy the peaceful, natural surroundings and a fire each night. We strolled the roads with our two dogs, morning and evening.

We truly enjoyed watching the deer and birds. We had hoped to see a bear but unfortunately, did not. We also visited Tari's each day for a delicious lunch. As always, we enjoyed the hot tub and wine, the well-equipped kitchen, and the general comfort of this home. Though we regret having to leave, we are already looking forward to our return in April. Thanks for your hospitality.

Your place was lovely and we totally enjoyed it. The weather was a disappointment as our visit was short and it rained - we weren't able to explore the beautiful countryside as we would have liked to, but it gives us a good reason to come back.

Well we just returned from Lazy Days! It was just that...lazy and comfortable. The home was very clean and had every ammenity in the world~ Air conditioners in every room, a fully stocked kitchen of simple and unusual appliances, as well as every kitchen gadget you will need. The home was meticulously maintained and props to the cleaning person who has the place sparkling. The home is a short walk to the river, which in August was very low but our kids had a great time crawfish catching and then fishing for bass. The river isnt very deep so the fish were small but plentiful!! Who doesnt love catching sunnies~! We were greeted by the deer and turtles aplenty and actually saw a family of minks running along the river edges. We have never seen that before. The town of Berkely Springs is very small and can be walked inside of an hour. The shops of interest and open only totaled about 12 so dont consider this a shopping mecca. We had a terrific dinner in Berkley Springs at Abrahams but the Panorama on the Peak was a huge disappointment to our family. It is a "whole foods" restaurant and that means, locally grown vegs and meats/fish and a very overpriced menu. The service was terrible and the portions very small. I wasnt too interested in going after reviewing the menu but the shop keepers and our homeowner gave it rave reviews. I think maybe the small town just tries to keep the business local because our experience was marginal at best. I will say the nicest touch was when we booked the reservation over the phone, they made a beautiful place card setting with our name on it for the table. Overall, for the price the property was a real bargain. We have rented from VRBO about a dozen times and this time was truly the best experience we have had.

Despite the hot weather the Lazy River Retreat including the Days was a slice of Paradise!! :-) We left a lot of red paint on multiple rocks in the Cacapon River from our red blue hole canoe....low river made for a great adventure and many laughs! Recommend the following to those that follow: (1) Hot Tub (2) Chillin' while grillin' (3) Creature watching at sunset (4) Panorama at the Peak and Tari's Restaurants (5) the Bath House massage is a MUST! Tip of the day - leave the room in better shape than you found it!!!! Douglas MacArthur said it and we will do it: "I shall return"! Cheers!

My sister and I had a really relaxing time here - first time we came here and it was so hot outside but we still enjoyed our time together - hanging out and enjoying all that you have to offer. On our last night here we saw about 6-8 deer right around the cabin here - didn't have to go far for that! Thank you for everything!

Thank you!!! We enjoyed a wonderful long and relaxing weekend here and are already discussing when to return! I had an amazing early 30th birthday with my husband and furbabies. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and the pups loved getting out of the city to swim and be "river hounds" for the first time. To our surprise, they are all pretty good swimmers and had the best afternoon! We really appreciate every amenity at the retreat, from the spice rack to all of the movies and books. We spent as much time relaxing as we could, only venturing into Berkeley Springs to visit Tari's (amazing!) and walk around the shops. I had my birthday dinner at Panorama at the Peak. Every bite was to die for! As much as I loved the hot tub, the hammock was my favorite part! :-) Thanks again so much and we will all be back soon! Someday we hope to have our own retreat out of DC, but for now, Lazy Days River Retreat will be our haven away from the chaos! Happy 4th of July!

You can tell instantly that the owners take pride in this lovely rental. You feel safetly nestled in the woods, and secluded from the world on the well maintained lot. My dogs loved wandering around the property, and taking in all the new sights and smells. My cousin, Lisa, loved the hot tub, and I can say it was a blessing to have right on the deck, just outside the sliding doors. I took pleasure in the fireplace on a chilly and damp day that did not detract from the surroundings. After comparing rentals, I found this one to have the best amenities, and I was very pleased with my choice. It's just a short drive to Berkeley Springs, with the most glorious scenic overlook on the way, and well worth a stop for photos. I can only imagine how spectacular the view is in the fall when the trees are changing color. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to book a trip to Berkeley Spriings take serious consideration when making your selection, and keep this place in mind. It was more than well worth it, and I didn't want to leave at the end of my stay. The owners are very accommodating, and go above and beyond to insure your stay is perfection. I can't wait to return!

We have returned to the Lazy Days River Retreat to experience spring in West Virginia. It, of course, was spectacular! We enjoyed walking our dogs through the wooded paths -- watching the blossoms open daily! We watched the birds as they ate at the feeder, seeing several varieties that do not live in Pennsylvania. We enjoyed watching the deer in the evening and hearing the geese in both the mornings and evenings. The screens in the windows allowed us to enjoy the fresh air and sounds of the country. We discovered Tari's Restaurant which we visited daily. It is the best restaurant that we have ever eaten at!! Of course the fireplace and hot tub added to the total relaxation of our experience. In short, we enjoyed a respite from our turbulent daily lives. Hate to go back home, but we will be back in the fall!

We, like most folks who come here, were in urgent need of a respite from our harried daily life. We willingly left it all behind in order to have a time together where "nothing is pending." We packed up our things and our two happy dogs and drove the 2 hours here. This retreat is totally awesome and beautifully appointed with every convenience. We were so impressed and comfortable here, that we ventured out only once to dine at the Panorama (I recommend the pasta florentine). We spent our days walking the woods, taking in the spectacular landscape. We enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells of the woods as well as the wildlife. The geese woke us up each morning and we saw deer every day. We enjoyed many games of scrabble and crackling fires in the fireplace. I spent hours in the hot tub, reading and drinking wine. We have totally enjoyed every minute of our stay and plan to come back (not soon enough)! If we ever come into a large sum of money (haha), we would surely like to have a home of our own here. Thanks for everything!

We were here for a short getaway to celebrate Bob's birthday. Bob, me, and Toby (our 1 year old cocker) enjoyed our stay very much. It was nice to see the deer and the winter birds, especially the cardinal. The hot tub was very welcoming and enjoyable. The house was so well furnished -- thank you! We were made to feel very welcome and perhaps will come back at another season of the year to enjoy the scenery in a different view. Thanks for allowing pets -- Toby very much enjoyed himself too.

We all had a great time staying at your little establishment. Everything is very well organized. We celebrated my 18th birthday and I personally couldn’t think of any better way to have a better birthday, unless you’re the sort of person who can’t stand their family. One of the things my Dad and I admired about the cabin is if you sit anywhere in the main living area; preferably the brown couch or the two rockers; you’ll see that the area surrounding you outside is like a tree house. You really can’t see the forest floor, so it looks like you’re up in the trees. We loved the Paw Paw tunnel, it was very mysterious; be sure to bring a flashlight! The Panorama restaurant was excellent, the view was gorgeous. The only mild “complaints” we had were these…it wouldn’t stop raining!!! No, kidding, but there were some odd things going about here. In this journal, there is an entry done by a 7 month old baby, I don’t know about you, but that is a little bit obsessive and creepy. My sister thought it was strange that you didn’t have a garbage disposal.

Too bad the Panarama Rest. was closed while we were there.

Great Cacapon and Berkeley Springs are great small towns with a lot of charm and many things to do/see. We look forward to coming back soon. Thank you Eric and Megan!
