Our large, 4 generation family had a wonderful time at Fishing Cove, for our annual Christmas reunion! This house was comfortable, incredible well equipped, roomy enough to have some privacy, and just really homey and nice. We loved it and hope to return next year. Virginia was very nice to work with and made the process easy. Thanks for a 5 star experience!

Each year our family spends a week together at a different vacation venue. There are twenty-one family members ranging in age from 7 months to 72 years… three generations (including nine teenagers). Fishing Cove proved to be a perfect spot this year. The time spent at the house and the time spent visiting the nearby attractions made for a great reunion that was enjoyed by all. When we arrived everything was in order and during our stay there were no problems with any of the facilities provided. Fishing Cove is a great place for a family reunion… we all highly recommends it!!!

As head of my family clan of 24 people, I can say that we all had a truly great time at this property. The clean accommodations, the view, the ample storage and refrigerator room and the rapid response when a very minor problem arose, it all made for the best family vacation (we do this nearly every year somewhere) we have had so far. The grandchildren and adults alike never had a dull moment, and the mood was one of joy and relaxation.. We''ll surely do it again.

Our large extended family (18 cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents) has now twice vacationed for a week each time at Fishing Cove -- in 2005 and again in 2010. We had a wonderful experience both times, although 2010 was even better because the owner opened up an additional bedroom and bathroom, so it was even more spacious and comfortable. For those looking for a lot of outside stimulation and activities, the Cambridge area may not be for you. But if you're looking for peace, quiet and relaxation as we were, it's ideal. We did go into Cambridge to watch the Fourth of July fireworks show, which was absolutely amazing and very long. And there seem to be a lot of options for chartering boats, going fishing, etc. plus there is a fair amount of historical interest in the area, much of it centered on Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad and other civil war history. But we preferred to stay around the house, which is quite comfortable, and plenty to do right there. Swimming pool in the backyard is quite large and well-maintained. The backyard abuts onto a creek called Fishing Creek, which in turn feeds into the Little Choptank River. The house comes with two rowboats at the dock. We also rented a kayak and a canoe from Blackwater Paddle and Pedal, a local place that rents boats and also does guided water tours, including of the nearby Blackwater Nature Preserve. For those who love birding, it's an amazing place. We saw Bald Eagles there, as well as ospreys and lots of other interesting birds. There are also plenty of birds right on Fishing Creek at the house, so you don't even need to drive anywhere to do birdwatching (we saw Great Blue Herons and ospreys every single day). I should add that my parents are in their 80's, and one of the great things about this house is that it is very accessible and easy to navigate for older folks who have limited mobility (there's even a lift for wheelchairs at the front door, though we didn't need to use that). And the backyard and dock are very easy to get around, so they were able to walk out to the dock each morning and evening to watch the sunset or the birds, or just gaze at the scenery. The owner is exceptionally responsive and helpful, and keeps the property inside and out in immaculate condition. We asked her in advance about wireless internet, which the house does have, but she took the initiative to get it upgraded to increase connection speed. We will come back to Fishing Cove!

Your place was great! We had a very wonderful experience. It was one of the most well equipped houses we have ever stayed in. From the beach towels to the fantastic washer/dryer to the kitchen utensils we had everything we needed. It was also so convenient having the linens provided. The house was so peaceful. And thanks for reccommending Portside's. It was a fabulous place for lunch. You were great to work with and we will reccommend your place highly!!!!

What a wonderful place! Fishing Cove was the ideal spot for our family reunion. We had ages ranging from 5 to 83 and everything in between, and everyone really enjoyed it, especially the pool. The house is lovely and spacious and easily accommodates a large crowd. The setting is very picturesque, perfect for canoeing and crabbing, and very peaceful and quiet. Moonrise over the water was spectacular! A very happy time.

My family and I spent a reunion weekend here in late April, 2008, and it was just a fantastic home for this. The location cannot be surpassed, and the home itself is impeccably maintained. There was plenty to keep the children occupied, and the adults could spend their time sitting on the massive back deck in the sun or fishing from the pier. I would strongly recommend this home for any family - large or small.

Our family gathered at this comfortable home for a 4-night stay during the first week of October. We (grandparents) wanted to locate somewhere "fun" for our 3 adult children and their young families. We came from different directions, meeting in the middle - which this house was. It proved to be the perfect spot. There was plenty of room for all and a crib awaited our new little first one month old granddaughter. We enjoyed the weather we had hoped for - daytime temp. 85-90, which made the pool very welcoming. Our sons and their boys loved fishing from the pier and the huge back yard provided a great area for boys games. All in all, we loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful getaway from busy everyday life.

wow! What a great house...everything well kept and clean. Ginger was so kind and efficient to deal with. The excellent bathrooms were a godsend with 6 teenagers. The 4 boys 8yr -12yrs want their respective daddies to buy the house so they can swim and fish every day for the rest of their lives.

Fishing Cove is a dream for a family reunion with a bunch of kids. We went crabbing, spent hours in the pool, used the grill most evenings and had the best family reunion the Leamers have ever had. Ginger Ramsey is a delight to deal with. The house is well kept up but there's a lived in feeling that I liked especially with seven kids. It's been well kid proofed and I wasn't terrified every moment of breaking something.

We recently celebrated our father's 90th birthday over a weekend at Fishing Cove, with 2 young children, and 14-18 adults each night. It was wonderful! Ginger Ramsey was helpful in every way and the house and swimming pool area was beautifully furnished and ready for our crowd. We would recommend this home to any group wanting a private, spacious, lovely place with a personal dock right on the river, and all of this close to Cambridge. Couldn't have been better!

I just returned(reluctantly) from a large family vacation at this lovely home. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. The setting and the solitude were exceptional. The little ones especially enjoyed the pool, while moms and dads enjoyed moonlit nights on the deck. The house is so spacious and comfortable. There is so much to do nearby that a week is hardly enough time. The sights and sounds of Fishing Cove will stay with us for a very long time. I highly recommend it.

Many thanks for such an enjoyable vacation at Fishing Cove. 16 of us experienced this special place, which not only has a lovely pool but also a dock for our 30' boat that enabled us to enjoy the Chesapeake Bay as well. The Ramseys are wonderful hosts and we hope to have the chance to return soon.

Fishing Cove is the ultimate family and friends getaway! We've had so much fun taking it easy in Cambridge. It's relaxing, but has plenty of fun-for-everyone activities for when you've recharged. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Great memories are made at Fishing Cove! We'll be back!

The best and most relaxing week we could ask for in a summer retreat (2004). Ten of us enjoyed this beautiful home, with lazy days by the pool, and outdoor dinners on the deck. The home is very spacious and we were able to spread out in different corners and enjoy some private time, or all crowd around in the living area to play games. We brought our boat and went water-tubing and fishing almost every day. We enjoyed spotting Bald Eagles at the Blackwater Refuge, and we took a day trip to Ocean City (about 50 minutes away)to feel the sand in our toes. The home is clean and comfortable, and our two cocker spaniels loved running in the wide-open and private yard. We are planning on renting this home again for another memorable reunion!!
