The Kiahuna Plantation is a beautifully landscaped condominium complex that evokes the feel of an old Hawaiian Plantation. The units are open and airy with many windows, and louvers that open to catch the cooling Hawaiian trade winds. The Kiahuna is set directly on Poipu Beach, one of the best beaches on Kauai. Poipu Beach is on the drier south side of Kauai so it is usually quite sunny. (Kauai is so beautiful because of the abundant rain received in the North end of the island; hence the name the "Garden Island.") A beach hut provides free towels and beach chairs; boogey boards and surf boards are available for rental. Surf lessons are also available.
The Kiahuna provides free tennis on 9 courts. The courteous staff will arrange matches for you. The famous Poipu Bay golf course, former site of the annual Grand Slam tournament, is 2 miles East at the beautiful Hyatt Poipu Hotel. Other excellent courses are nearby. A number of excellent restaurants are close including Roy's, Keoki's, Casa Blanca, and the Plantation Gardens which are within walking distance. Funky Old Town Koloa with its shops and restaurants is just a few minutes away by car. The rest of the island with its fantastic scenery, great adventures, and wonderful beaches is all within an hour's drive. |
