    • I recently returned from a lovely week in early October 20008 to this VBRO listing. Casa Cheyrill is a spectacular Palapa-roofed home, overlooking the town from high on the northern hill. We were met by the non-English speaking caretakers at the town bridge and caravanned to the house, visible from town on the northern hill. Views of the bay and sunset from the open-air living area upstairs were a nightly spectacle, enjoyed from the kitchen, dining table or from the refreshing infinity pool. All amenities were as advertised, although wireless Inet was not available at the house or in town, but Inet was available from the several cafes in town. The bedrooms are comfortable and climate controlled with AC and fans. Housekeeping came twice a week to clean and do laundry and pool maintenance. While walking to beach and town is possible, it is an effort given the remoteness of the very steep roads, undeveloped approach dirt roads around town, and the circuitous uphill journey on the hot humid days, muddy rainy weather, or unlit nights. I would recommend a 4WD car rental from Gecko rental in Bucerias, not only for local transportation, but also to explore neighboring northern towns and beaches: and stop at the superstore in Bucerias to pick up your weeks' groceries and beverages before arriving. Without a car, taxi transport to and from the house is available for $4.50 each way to town. Activate your cell phone for international calling ($1 per minute) before you leave the US. The ability to negotiate steps down to the house from the garage and between living levels is an important consideration with those persons using assistive devices. Nighttimes in a jungle atmosphere are relaxing and romantic, but be prepared to secure your foods in the cabinets with occasional visit by raccoon-like food seekers a distinct possibility. I would whole-heartedly recommend this romantic get-away to all who wish to experience a mix of small town Mexico of old, remote living, and close by excellent culinary choices. High season definitely begins in November and earlier arrivals may find some of the local sites still closed for remodeling for the season.

    • I have never posted a review on any type of travel site, but I had to speak up to anyone who might be considering a stay at Casa Cheryll. My fiance and I stayed for a week in January 2008 and had what was the most spectacular experience we've ever had while traveling and in seven years we've been all over. Alex and Cheryl were wonderful to deal with from the beginning and promptly answered all questions via email and we had a lot. Mary and Beto were fantastic. We arranged for Beto to pick us up at the airport and he was there right on time and even took us grocery shopping. Mary was at the house cleaning when we arrived and came twice during our stay...we know because we waited for her to get there to say hello and then would head to the beach. She also came on our last day to clean and also to drive us to the airport. The house itself is gorgeous. It was clean, organized and had everything that Cheryl told us it did. I am a self proclaimed germophobe and cleanfreak in regards to cleanliness, and Casa Cheryll was very clean. The views were unmatched. I have one of the pictures taken from the house as my screen saver at work so I am fortunate enough to get to see it everyday. I makes me want to be back there! We enjoyed the house so much that during our week we went to the beach only a couple times and to dinner a couple of times, but otherwise stayed at the house. We cooked and laid by the pool and watched whales spouting up in the distance. At night we lit candles, listened to music and played cards. It was the perfect vacation and I strongly feel that Casa Cheryll was what made it magical. Steve and I travel quite a bit and always prepare ourselves for those "little things" that can go wrong. The only "little thing" on our trip was a gas tank overturned on one of the streets going up to the house and the police were not letting anyone return for two hours. This was at 8:00pm...so it was back down the hill to Macondos for more drinks! It made for a great story. There was NOTHING about the house that was wrong. When we travel, I always want to stay someplace different if we travel back to the same destination. By mid week during our stay we were already planning on coming back to Sayulita and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!! And this is a first for us! I would be happy to personally answer specific questions you have if you are considering staying at Casa Cheryll. You will love it there!
