  We had an amazing time. The boardwalk to the beach was great and the condo was clean and perfect. We will definatley be coming back. The property was amazing with a pool and a play area for the kids. The kitchen had everything you would need for simple cooking and a corkscrew!

  Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.

  WOW! We just came home from a 9 day stay at Mar Azul and I feel 10 years younger! So relaxed!! We walked the beach, grilled by the pool, played basketball, shuffleboard and four square for hours. The condo was adorable, CLEAN and had EVERYTHING we needed. We have stayed in other condos on this property but this one is perfectly located to the pool, grilling areas and the beach! We could watch the kids play from the balcony. In the past we have gone out to eat much more - this was just too convenient! We stayed in and enjoyed the beach and the Island Retreat property. Try Mar Azul soon! Thanks so much!!!

  This was our first visit to Mustang Island and we found it very enjoyable. The condo was exactly what we were expecting from pictures and description. It was roomy, well decorated and everything we needed for setting up housekeeping for a month. The grounds at Island Retreat are immaculate and all the personal are friendly and helpful. We could see the ocean from our deck and it was just a short stroll to the beach. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. Our favorite restaurants were The Beach Cafe and the Wildhorse has excellant hamburgers. Lots of great seafood at Cody's, Moby Dicks and Snoopys. Did not care for Castaways. Wished there was more to do in the way of entertainment. We did attend a play and danced at Bernies, but mostly just relaxed and walked the beach.

  This beach retreat is the perfect getaway in Port Aransas! Positioned close to both the pool and beach, it is also close to nearby restaurants and shopping. Not to mention, a guard is on premise. The bedrooms are both spacious, having two large beds in each room and bathrooms are clean. Sit outside on this patio and enjoy beachcombers coming and going, kids splashing in the oversized pool, or just read a book and enjoy the tranquility of the sea breeze...the beach itself is easily accessible, and you have the option of taking your car on the beach as well. Book this place, you won't be disappointed!

  We've stayed at various places in Port A in the past, but the unit beats all in terms of location and convenience. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and wouldn't mind staying there on our next visit. PROS: 1. You can see the beach from the back balcony which also faces out to the pool. 2. Nice boardwalk and a short walk to the beach. 3. The AC with the fans in strategic places made for a cool (sometimes too cool) stay. 4. Wi-Fi and TVs in every room. 5. Overall, the unit was clean and serviceable. 6. Short drive to the ferry and town. CONS: 1. The front office wasn't customer-friendly. They told us they do not handle the maintenance of the unit. 2. The dish washer had standing water, so we avoided using it, since the office couldn't do anything about it. 3. Both dryers were broken in the laundry room across from the unit. We took our laundry to the local laundromat.

  Owner response: Thank you for your review. Our condo is one of the few in this complex that does not participate in their rental pool. We are a part of VRBO so we can treat our guests with respect and provide the best customer service possible. We are currently addressing the CONS you have provided for us with the complex to ensure that future guests will get the same customer service from them that we try to provide ourselves. The dishwasher, unfortunately, was beyond repair by the regular maintenance at the complex, and they had to contract out to determine that their was a defective part. Thankfully, it was still under warranty and will be replaced within the week.

  Our family vacationed here to celebrate my son's birthday. We had a fantastic time. The complex is very family friendly. The pool was big and well maintained plus there were other available forms of entertainment on site as well like volleyball, basketball, play area, etc.. It was a short walk to the beach and we were not far from local restaurants and other attractions. The owner was very good at quickly responding to any questions or concerns we had. Our first night the air conditioning struggled to cool the condo, but that is likely due to our arriving in the heat of the day with a heat index of 103 degrees and using the oven to cook as well. The rest of our stay we were cool and comfortable. We look forward to coming here again.

  The place was in good condition. The condo was pretty warm when we arrived after 6pm. There was no coffee available which surprised me. I have never been anywhere that did not have coffee in the room with the coffeemaker.Ice trays in freezer were empty.Beds were very uncomfortable. The location was great,easy access to the beach. The tv remote did not match the tv in front room,so had to operate manually.

  Owner response: Thank you for your feedback. We are always looking to improve the accommodations we provide for our guests. Due to health and liability concerns we leave the ice trays unfilled. We cannot be sure as to what the previous guests have filled the ice trays with. We have asked the cleaning crew to turn up the air when they leave the unit. There are several reasons we do this. 1. It could be hours or days in between guests so we try hard to conserve energy. 2. While conserving energy, we also save on our utilities which keep our rates low. We rely on our guests to inform the front desk or us if there are any problems with the unit so we can get them fixed during the guest’s stay to minimize the inconvenience. Once we were made aware of the problems with the remote, we replaced the TV and now have a working remote. We have recently stayed in our unit and did not have any issues with the comfort of our beds. However, we do understand that people have different comfort levels with regards to the firmness and softness of the mattress.

  The property is well managed. Everything was clean and comfortable. Kitchen was adequately equipped for our son the chef. AC struggles a bit at mid day but the multitude of fans made up for it. I would recommend this property to anyone.

  This was a great little condo for our family for the weekend. We stayed at Island Retreat last year and enjoyed this condo even more this year. Great ambiance and view of the water from the second story. Access to the barbecue grill and right outside of the pool. Great place to stay!

  Two Bedroom Bath was Very Clean, Had no issues with condo, Amenities, large Pool, BasketBall , volley Ball, Sand Pit for children , SwingSets, A very Family Oriented. Surounding near shops, Beautiful Scenery overlooking the ocean, With Fullmoon set, atmostphere around complex Was Extremely Clean. I was very impressed. This was our first Easter away from home, The Management even held a Easter Egg Hunt for children. I thought that was great! I do recomend this condo, I look forward to future stays. DRamos
