SPECTACULAR SPECTACULAR SPECTACULAR. This place is all it says it is. Beautiful fireplace, living room, spacious kitchen w/ everything we needed from everyday use to hosting a 15 person Christmas Eve party. The beds were huge & Oh sooo very comfortable. A pool table, Christmas tree, firewood already cut & ready. Extremely clean, not a thing out of place. Tons of extra little things you need that you don't think to bring. The extra little gift basket from Mariea was the cherry on top. Would absolutely recommend to just about anyone. Very relaxing & we will not stay Anywhere else when we go up there again. Fit for a King stole my heart!!! Thx for the Good memories w/ My husband & 2 1/2 yr. old little boy.
Owner response:Another happy guest has enjoyed the wonder of Raccoon Ridge!! We are here to serve our guest and make your stay an amazing memory. Thanks so much, Jack & Mariea

As an event and concert producer I travel to many locations. I have been fortunate enough to find "Fit For A King" as a great home during events at Bristol Motor Speedway. The gated access and location just a couple of minutes from the main highway ensures a quiet, relaxing stay. The property is very clean with great furnishings. You will not be disappointed!
Owner response:As repeat guest you know that we provide what we promise. Staying with us before gave you opportunity to check out our wonderful property. We believe we offer the best place in the whole area to stay for a night or a month!! We do appreciate the kind remarks!! Jack & Mariea

We recently stayed in the "Fit for a King" cottage, at Raccoon Ridge Cottages. The place was cozy, charming, and exceeded our expectations in every way imaginable. The proprietor, Mariea, was available at all times, and answered questions promptly. It was CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN inside and out and very tastefully decorated. It truly felt like our "home away from home" as we visited the Tri-Cities area. Raccoon Ridge Cottages are immaculate, very well run, and will provide a homelike atmosphere. We enjoyed our visit so much, we're already planning our return visit next year. Two thumbs up!!!
Owner response:Thank you so much ...we aim to please. The cleaning of this cottage is of upmost importantance to us., We are so glad we met our goal. Thanks again, Mariea

what can you say about these cabins except that they are beautiful! we've stayed in a couple of them and each one is awesome. we come up every year for the Thunder Valley nationals and never worry about our accomidations - we don't even look at other cabins anymore. they are so peaceful and beautifully decorated, it's home away from home. Jack & Mariea have done a wonderful job making you feel at home. there are deer & wild turkeys that roam the property and the views are spectacular. we can't wait to come back...see y'all in a month! My husband and I went on a "mystery trip" for our anniversary. We chose flights to the Tri-City airport then went on vbro. When we drove through the gates - with our own personal code - these two flat-landers enjoyed the gentle climb to our "cottage". This is no cabin, or cottage. It is a beautiful home, decorated with the "Fit for a King" theme. It is clean, clean, clean. The king sized bed almost rivaled our "sleep number" one at home. Smelling fresh, clean linens, and everything one needs for a get-away. Yes, everything, even the strongest wi-fi signal and cell phone connections! We flew in later than expected, and with our own personal code for the gate, and our front door, had no need to find the owners to let us in. We walked in the living room and then to the dining room to find a box of goodies for these delayed travelers. Mariea and Jim's property offered ALL the comforts of home - with the exception that we needed to bring our own coffee grinder - for the coffee connosieurs we fancy ourselves to be! Washer/dryer worked perfectly and to our surprise, we were a mere 10 minutes away from a great number of restaurants. Easy access to the interstate made traveling from town to town for a festival or two a breeze! Did I mention how clean this place is??? We loved it so much that we asked to see the other "cottages" (actually beautiful homes) on the property. To our delight they were even more spectacular, and clean, and beautifully decorated. Grace of God is where we hope to stay on our next visit. It is at the top of the ridge overlooking the city. We look forward to the smell of the leather couch and our brewed coffee this Fall as we look out over the tree tops! We'd never been to this area and found it with just enough "country" to satisfy us city dwellers!
Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words. We are "people collectors". We love to take care of our guest as if they were our children. To pamper each one to make them feel special; we think each one is special. Our hopes are that you will return because you found the cottage so nice and to relive your memories. Come again, Winter is AWESOME in Raccoon Ridge. Many blessings on you both, Mariea

This is my second year to spend Christmas at Raccoon Ridge cottages in Johnson City, TN. The owners Jack and Mariea Ward really try to make the cottages feel like you are at home. Mariea decorates each cottage for Christmas, and puts up a Christmas tree. "Fit for a King" cottage is the nicest one yet with the wood burning fireplace, comfortable living room, and pool table. We actually had a dinner party on Christmas Eve with about 15 people, and we all fit nicely. The bedrooms and bathrooms are good size, and are beautifully decorated with antiques. I would return to these cottages even if my family did not live in the area. Thank you again for making my family Christmas special.
Owner response:It is such a compliment when our guest return time and again! We try to make it an experience you will never forget. Thank you so much for your warm words. Come back again soon!! Blessings, Jack & Mariea

This cottage was truly "fit for a king!" It was very clean and beautifully decorated with custom-made furniture, modern appliances, and a fireplace in both the living room and master bedroom. It was out in nature, yet only five minutes from "civilization." I loved relaxing on the front porch swing and soaking in the scenery on the back deck. I would definitely recommend staying at her cottages to anyone, and hope to come back myself. Thanks Mariea!
Owner response:Thank you so much. We are so glad you enjoyed the porch, looking at the lovely nature God has placed there. We do hope you come back to Raccoon Ridge Cottages for your next visit to our area. The fact that it is so private and yet so close to all the area attractions and shopping is very important to our guest. It certainly is a home away from home. Many blessings, Mariea

What a wonderful place to stay and make memories. Fit for a King is decorated beautifully. As you enter Raccoon Ridge, you are surrounded by beautiful trees and you have a sense of tranquility and privacy. As you leaving the private gates you are back in Johnson City in 5 minutes. We enjoyed taking the back roads to Bristol Motor Speedway. But you can get there in 11 minutes by highway. The owners take pride in making you feel right at home and truly love sharing the beauty God has placed there. There are so many personal touches and the special gift basket prepared just for us made us feel welcome. The cottage was unbelievably very clean which is our number one concern and Fit for a King surpassed our expectations. All the little things you might need are already there. We enjoyed having our coffee on the deck watching the wildlife come and go through woods. We would recommend any one of four cottages on this property. It is our hopes and dreams to return someday. Thank you Mariea and Jack for making our trip so special.
Owner response:What a great picture you have painted of Raccoon Ridge and "Fit For A King" cottage. It means you loved being here and we loved having you here. We got aquainted with you guys as we do many of our guest and we treasure your friendship forever. This is truly a place with the hand of God on it as He sends people here for many reasons. We hope to provide for our future guest this same kind of experience. We do hope you return again and again. Thanks and many blessings, Mariea

This is a charming, well-maintained cabin. The description and pictures were accurate, and the place was very clean. We appreciated the nice touches, such as a welcome basket upon our arrival. The location was perfect...it felt secluded yet was a very short drive (5 minutes) to the amenities of a city. We left a note when we departed to inform the owners of a few little things, such as a light bulb that had burned out, and they contacted us that day. They expressed regret that we didn't call during our stay so they could fix the bulb immediately. They seemed to truly care that their guests have everything they need. We would recommend this property to friends and will probably return to it ourselves.
Owner response:Hey guys, thanks so much for the greaat review you placed on VRBO. It will be so helpful to future guest. We try very hard to please everyone and make them comfortable. We do hope you will return to JC and stay with us again. Again thanks and many blessings on your family, Mariea & Jack

I do not have any negative things to say about our stay in Fit for a King. The owners touch on all the details and the place comes equipped within anything you could possibly need. The rooms are very quiet, the beds are super comfortable, and the views from the deck are beautiful. We can't wait to come back! Definitely take some time to check out Ridgewood Barbecue. It is only 8 miles away from the cabin and some of the best barbecue we've had.
Owner response:Thanks guys for the kind comments. It is our goal to make all our guest feel special and pampered. We want each person to feel at home. God bless you, thanks again Mariea

This house is absolutely gorgeous. The decorating is like pictures from a Home magazine. Everything we needed was there, even a "Welcome Basket", that came in very handy as it contained things we had forgotten. Although we were there for NASCAR racing, it is a great place to lay back and relax. I would definetly stay there again!
