Waterfront, Kealakekua Bay, 5bd/5-1/2 BA. Snorkel, Kayak, Fun!
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Kealakekua Bay
We decided to look for a property on the Big Island after falling in love with Hawaii and traveling back and forth so often. We knew we had to be close to the water since we are truly water lovers. Kealakekua Hale was the perfect home, in the perfect location. Right on the water with easy access for kayaking, swimming, diving, fishing, boogie boarding, reef walking - it's all right outside the door. The thing we really love is that we can enjoy watching others swim, kayak and play from either of the two lanais, the grassy lawn or Manini Beach adjacent to the property. There is so much history in this region, being one of the Alii's favorite spots - we can see why! There is pleanty of space when our large family comes to visit and it is ideal for weddings, reunions, birthday celebrations or just a great get-together place. There is plenty of seating in the Great Room for all to gather and reunite after a day of sightseeing, water play or just relaxing. This truly is the best of everything - great location - away from it all and yet close enough to shopping and nightlife. It truly is one of the islands best-kept secrets, rich in coffee and macadamia nut farms with the intrigue and feeling of "Old Hawaii" but boasting the modern amenities we so much enjoy and demand.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We very much enjoy the comfort of the property, the ability to prepare a wonderful gourmet meal or a simple snack in the granite-countered kitchen. Dining space is ample as there is a large, open kitchen/dining area offering seating for 13 and overflow seating out onto the lanai via the 30 foot glass sliding door that overlooks the Bay. We also like the ability to go out for a wonderful, gourmet meal at one of the fine restaurants nearby. The beauty of the area, the graciousness of the people, neightbors and overall community is priceless. You really do feel that it is a "family" or "Ohana" and that is what our home attracts - family's looking for a comfortable, affordable and enriching environment that has something for everyone. From adventure seeker to those seeking solitude and quiet, this is the place that offers it all. Come see how Hawaii was meant to be, away from the hotels, touristy and overcrowded places you will find in some other areas. Come enjoy Hawaii as it should be, unspoiled and yet with every modern convenience and amenity. You will not regret it and will be like our other guests, looking ahead to book your return visit before you even leave!
Owner's Map of Kealakekua Bay
My family and I love the Big Island of Hawaii. Ever since our very first trip over when my eldest daughter was just 5 years old, the family's love of the island has grown. We are very much the outdoor girls and love our active lifestyle. We also entertain a great deal and spend much of our time with friends and family members. Hawaii is the perfect place for us - if we can't be there, we want others to be able to enjoy this little bit of heaven when we can't. The house is very comfortable and offers all of the amenities of a luxury estate. We completely remodeled the house in 2002-2003. It's big enough for a large family or multiple families without guests ever feeling encroached upon. With 5 bedroom suites, everyone has their private space and can still get together for group gatherings in the great room, on the lanais or in the yard. We have so many fond memories here and enjoy hearing of the wonderful experiences our guests have as well. It's very rewarding to know that the property offers a place for families and friends to come together to enjoy some truly special time together. The house exudes a feeling of "Aloha" (Love) and all are welcome. You will definitely return, just as we do, every chance we get!

“We have had the most wonderful week in your lovely home – two amazing trips on Gordon’s (friend/neighbor) canoe and some of the BIGGEST waves to visit the cove in years, and front row seats for the surfers! Your house is filled with the special spirit of Aloha, thank you for sharing it with all of us. Warmest Aloha”.

“Thanks doesn’t say enough – you’re incredible for sharing your home. We celebrated our first granddaughter’s 1st Birthday, ate fresh albacore, met many interesting locals, had shiatsu massages, toured a small coffee farm, snorkeled, kayaked, swam. What more could we ask for? The views are spectacular, and unforgettable. We will have many dreams of our experiences and ours of possibly returning.

“We loved sharing your special home and its spectacular setting – how much better can it get than your own private cove replete with performing dolphins? We’ll miss waking up to the sound of the waves, but will have great memories to take with us back to California – Thanks!!!”

“This has been the best week ever. We had 3 generations here all together – that in itself was a feat. The week was perfect. The house is outstanding!!! Too many dolphins to count – one flying fish. Turtles 3 or 4 every day. A ride in the glass bottom boat. Snorkeling for the first time ever for this almost 60 year old. Kayaking as well. Hawaii had no disappointments – my first trip ever. This place really knows (your house) how to please it’s renters. Many, many thanks and we will be back again! We also went to a luau at the Sheraton – food was OK – show was very good! Thanks and Aloha”. – Vacaville, CA., Brunswick, GA., Walnut Creek, CA, San Jose, CA. Seattle, WA.
