Exceeded All Our Expectations

Guest: Doug & Peggy, Downesville, LA
Date of Stay: 04/27/12 Review Submitted: 05/02/12

Dear Tim, Pamela, Cole and Kaylie, We were expecting a fabulous 2-week vacation; your hospitality and gorgeous cabin exceeded all our expectations. As you know my primary reason for making this trip was for Doug to reunite with his daughter and see his grandson for the first time. Both of these became a reality with great success. Your cabin has the most breathtaking views that we could have ever hoped for. The wildlife experience has also been beyond anything we could have imagined. The pictures that we have taken from the cabin will be something for us to enjoy always. Like all good things this too must come to an end. We leave with heavy heart but at the same time already planning our next visit. Yours,

Date of Stay: 02/13/12 Review Submitted: 05/02/12

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wallace, We had a fun and relaxing time in your cabin. It is very cozy and clean. We LOVED the loft and the room under the stairs. The whole setup reminded us of a storybook! We also enjoyed the view from the front windows. During our stay we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park and went sledding there. We saw lots of elk and enjoyed taking pictures of the scenery! Thanks for all your time and effort to make this cabin delightful for others. It has been a blessing for us! Dan, Deanna, Katie, Annalee & Jamie

Pamela and Tim, We had a wonderful, lazy long weekend! It was nice to get away, but still be close to shops and the park. I do not believe you can beat this location - beautiful views, and plenty of animal sightings from the front door. We especially enjoyed our evenings by the fireplace . . . and thank you for getting us the Saints on MNF!!!!! We loved it and hope to be back.

First Snow of the Season!

Guest: The Saunders
Date of Stay: 10/09/11 Review Submitted: 10/09/11

Dear Pamela & Tim, Thank you so much for allowing us to share your wonderful cabin. You weren't exaggerating when you described the "beautiful mountain views." It has been 10 years since my last visit to Estes Park and it was even better than I remembered. I was really looking forward to seeing lots of wildlife in RMNP and taking photos. We ended up seeing more elk, deer, and coyotes right here near town. Two coyotes actually walked right through the yard. Although we didn't plan for snow, it was very welcome coming from the 100 degree weather at home. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We even enjoyed a fire the night that it snowed. We appreciate your hospitality and hope to visit again next year in Estes Park!

Stuff My Family Says:

Guest: The Parshall-Bloom Family
Date of Stay: 08/05/11 Review Submitted: 08/06/11

- It's almost like you can touch the rain. - What happens to the elk when it rains? - My sensibility is that the visitor's center is just past that sign. - I'm having sensory overload. - The salad is fairly pedestrian. Our van broke down as we pulled in at the cabin. No problem! Had it towed and walked to the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center to catch shuttles. My favorite hike was Dream Lake. Gordon's was Timberline Falls. The "kids" went to a concert tonight at Red Rocks, so we have the cabin to ourselves. Very peaceful, very comfortable. Thank you for being such good hosts. Comfortable and convenient!

Guest: Nancy (Mt. Pleasant, Michigan)
Date of Stay: 07/31/11 Review Submitted: 08/16/11

This cabin was perfect for our family! The view of the mountains was spectacular, and changed dramatically as the day progressed. Our car broke down just as we pulled into the cabin, and we discovered that this was not much of a problem. The visitor center is an easy 10 minute walk, where shuttle buses are available to go into RMNP and access trailheads, or into Estes Park. A grocery store was also an easy 10 minute walk. It was not difficult to manage without a vehicle for the few days it took to have ours repaired. The cabin was very comfortable, with plenty of towels and a large bathroom. The Webber grill was in good condition, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The futon in the loft was somewhat uncomfortable for an adult, but would work fine for a child. I highly recommend this cabin for a famiy vacation!

Owner response:Thank you for a great review, Nancy! I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and found the shuttle easy to use while your car was repaired. You were wonderful guests and we hope to accommodate you again sometime. Thank you for leaving the cabin in great condition and for leaving the spices for other guests! Best regards, Pamela

We had a great time staying in your cabin. John and I have been here many times, but this was our daughters' first time. McKinlea (5) and Kennedy (3) had the best time. We actually celebrated Kenedy's 3rd birthday on your porch. Your cabin was so clean and the perfect place to have dinner outside and enjoy the wonderful weather, much better than the 100 degree weather in Texas. The washer and dryer came in handy after our hikes and horse rides. We love this cabin and location. We are already planning our trip back. The Polands, Katy, TX

We had a great time!

Guest: Donna and Friends (Peoria, IL, USA)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/19/11

Thank you, Tim and Pamela, for having such a great cabin to share! The views, wildlife and flowers were all spectacular and in keeping with having a great vacation in the mountains -- only wish we could have stayed longer as the temperature and humidity at home are just hard to take after cool, dry mountain air. Others before us have described the cabin and surroundings in more detail, so it's not necessary to do it again, except to say "ditto." You're great hosts!

Owner response:Donna, Thank you so much for your kind remarks! We are very glad you and your friends had a nice vacation in Estes Park. It was fun to receive your emails with details of your stay every so often while you were here. We appreciate you leaving everything so nice and well-stocked upon your check-out. You were excellent guests and we hope you will come and visit again next year! Best regards, Pamela and Tim

Dear Pamela and Tim, Thanks so much for hosting us this past week. We've had an amazing relaxing week. The view from the cabin is amazing and the convenience to the park was really great. Wildlife viewing from the yard was really fun. Rabbits, elk, ground hogs (or squirrels) were everywhere. We love to cook and the kitchen was well outfitted. The grill was also terrific. We grilled almost every evening. The Boulder farmer's market was one of the best I've ever visited - FYI. I think we pretty much ate local all week. Colorado lamb ROCKS! RMNP is beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the Wild Basin area. The hike to Ouzel Falls was indescribable! On Thursday (our last day :( ) we were caught in an ice storm on our trek to Loch Vale. Guess we should have listened to the inclement weather advisory. We froze our tails off! We can't wait to return next time later summer. Thanks, Mark and Shannon Pelletier, N.O. LA

Pamela and Tim, Our stay at your cabin was an enjoyable one! The view can't be described. We had an afternoon snow flurry and seeing the snow-capped mountains was a treat for us - we don't see that in Louisiana. Bear Lake was frozen over and hiking around it was a challenge in tennis shoes, so we resorted to a snowball fight. Hiking down to the creek with snowbanks was a perfect setting for wonderful pictures. Since the Trail Ridge Road was not open all the way to Grand Lake, we'll have to backtrack to get to Vail, CO. The hike up Alluvial Fall Rocks was an adventure since the sheep were on the hill across from the falls. Everything was great, even having the Tony's seasoning to make us feel at home. Date of Stay: 05/24/11 Review Submitted: 05/24/11

We arrived yesterday afternoon with our daughter from Centennial and her boyfriend. The change in weather from Maine has been a wonderful variety of sun (which we have not had in Maine) to cloud-filled skies, blustery winds and spectacular snow squalls. Yesterday we saw our share of elk in the RMNP and were surprised to see a frozen Bear Lake instead of the serene blue water seen in pictures. It was an exciting adventure as we walked onto the lake on frozen snow and then were attacked with icy snow that blew in every direction. We loved it. Today we started our day with the best donuts ever. They run out quickly so you have to get there by 7:00 a.m. It was worth getting up for. But the view of the mountains this morning surpassed the donuts. Yesterday started great and was packed full of hikes and a wonderful treat - getting up close to several herds of big horn sheep. It ended with another herd of elk in our field in front of the house. Off for another hike around the lakes and then back to Denver via Golden - We love this place and we love Colorado. Your friends, The McEwans from Maine Thanks for your hospitality! :)

We had a wonderful time here at your cabin. It was very relaxing and clean. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Thank you! We had a great time at Sombrero Ranch, we took the one-hour horseback ride! Perfect for us since we have no experience. It was our daughter's favorite part of the trip! We spent a whole day at RMNP and it was gorgeous! Wish we had another day to explore. . . Best place we ate Smokin' Dave's BBQ! Loved it! Great food and good prices! We did stop at Grand Lake after leaving RMNP and had the best ice cream at Grand Lake Chocolates. We toured the Stanley Hotel and it was great! Every place we went everybody was so friendly and made our destinations great! Sad we have to leave . . .Hope to return! We love Estes! Thanks.

Pamela and Tim, Thanks for your flexibility in our short stay this time. We really needed a getaway! I had forgotten how nicely you have this place decorated. Our 18-year old was even impressed and loved the loft area. My favorites were, once again, your little touches that mean so much to short-term renters. . . having the fireplace already set up with wood and kindling ready to start and having the ice box filled with ice upon arrival. Yes, this place has great views and love the nearness to RMNP. Thanks again! Julie and Ken from Arvada, CO

Dear Tim and Pam, Thank you so much for the wonderful accommodations! Everything was fantastic! My husband and I had been to Estes Park in the past - about 15 years ago. We came back to show our boys (9 and 11) the RMNP and the gorgeous scenery. Estes Park has grown (more built up) but the mountains remain just as beautiful as we remember! We loved the Estes Park village and had a fun time at the shops and candy stores! We took some great hikes in the Park and we saw lots of wildlife - including a large bull moose right here in the yard! The house is perfect and the views, of course, make it very special. Thanks again for allowing us to change our dates. We definitely would not have enjoyed this as much when my husband was on crutches! Take care, Lisa and Chuck

We woke up every morning to the breathtaking view and ended each day in front of the fire. One night we even had a dance party thanks to the fun music left in the CD player. We loved this beautiful cabin with the breathtaking view! My daughter's 18th birthday we spent the night out (Mexican, her choice) then came back and played Scrabble and watched a movie while the 6 year old made "moose calls!" Tues. was spent hiking in the National Park (Ira got to see his elk!). Weds. we went ona 2-hour horseback ride at the Cowpoke Ranch (warning: if you've never ridden a horse and are scared of heights this isn't for you!) Thurs. we took a tour of the Stanley Hotel, it was fun and informative. For our last night my husband and I spent our 24th wedding anniversary at the Dunraven while Grandma stayed in with the kids, played cards and ordered pizza. We don't want to leave but we must. We will hopefully get to come back again and make more memories!

Timothy and Pamela, Well, what can we say -- not only is your cabin beautiful, spacious and with a view to die for, but you picked up our trash, brought me a hot/cold pack for my back, and were accommodating with our relatives this weekend. After spending all our childhood years (till now) on the east side of Estes, we are now SOLD on the quieter west side (no big motels). Elk came and sat behind the house on Thursday. As a p.s. to all visitors, the brunch on Sunday at the Other Side Restaurant was the BEST EVER! We will be back!

(President's Day and Valentines Day Weekend) Pamela and Tim, Thank you for the wonderful weekend! We are being seen off by about 100 elk as I write just across High Drive. Your place is wonderful and was perfect for our family. We appreciated everything and can't wait to come back! Take care,

Pamela and Tim, Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely home. It was a relaxing break and good family time before sending our little girl back to her freshman year in college. We appreciate all the special touches, like coffee, hot chocolate, tea, etc. Having firewood was wonderful! The coyote came through the yard on his daily journey south (like morning clockwork). We made several trips into the park and saw lots of elk. Yesterday we sat and watched a herd of approx. 200 elk cross the road. (What an amazing sight.) No elk in the yard. I guess they had plenty to eat in the park. There were lots of bare places of grass. Sorry to have to leave this fantastic view. Diana, Greg, and Leah Smith and Doris Lilly

Dear Pamela and Tim, Our family wants to give thanks for all that you have done for our stay to feel like home (Christmas tree, dishes, all the extras). This was our first real tree. We had a beautiful white Christmas with gifts. Our girls were happy and loved the rooms. The time that I spent here was an enjoyable time for me to move on from a recent death in the family and from all the stress of working and school (time to relax). Perfect place to start my new year to come. We did not see much of the wild but enjoyed the view of mountains, wineries and the authentic food at Chelito's Mexican restaurant. The library was a good place that my girls enjoyed. Our family is very blessed to have had the opportunity to stay at your home. We left a few gifts. Please enjoy them. We know that the next family that comes will also enjoy. Blessings, Raul, Jeannie, Monica, Brittany, Bianca and Magali
