We had a great time. This is a good-sized house. The views from the large deck were awesome. Two full bathrooms made it easy for the crowd we had. Very peaceful and quiet. The night sky was what I remember as a child before light pollution.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.
Truly off-the-beaten-path with all the comforts of home

This house is very comfortable and well-maintained. It's only a short hike to the Appalachian Trail, and just down the road from Max Patch, a beautiful mountain bald with stunning 360-degree views. Great for hikers, photographers, and anyone seeking real peace and quiet -- it's truly a special getaway. I've stayed there for years, and have only just begun to explore all the nearby trails. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking tools, the decor in the house is tasteful and cozy, and the hot tub is super-clean and very private. A big plus is that the owners are some of the nicest people on the planet, but you won't see them unless you want to or need something. If your idea of a great vacation is an escape to fresh mountain air, vigorous hiking opportunities, and starry night skies in a secluded and beautiful spot, you won't be disappointed with Max Patch Retreat.
