Annapolis house description
Pure Magic! You'll wake to the sound of church bells ringing from St. Mary's, ships horns as they depart from City Dock and horses hooves as they pull carriages through the charming historic streets of Annapolis.
This luxuriously decorated historic home was built in 1832 and has been fully renovated to bring out its original charm. Situated only one block from Main Street in downtown Annapolis, it is conveniently located to give you instant access to sightseeing, shopping, restaurants and bars, boat cruises, and Naval Academy activities. City Dock, at the bottom of the block, boasts commanding views of the Chesapeake, sail and motor boats of all sizes, and people watching galore! Its close proximity to St. Mary's, St. Anne's, First Presbyterian and the Naval Academy Chapel makes it ideal for wedding parties and guests.
The Maryland State Capital, Governors Mansion, Naval Academy and Navy-Marine Corp Stadium are all easily within walking distance...most within just five minutes. Baltimore (30 minutes) and Washington D.C. (45 minutes) also have a tremendous amount to offer during your time here - it's the perfect central location. METRO access (New Carrollton Station) is 20 minutes away and connects to AMTRAK as well.
Original heart-of-pine wood floors are located throughout the home, graced by many beautiful rugs. The fully renovated gourmet kitchen makes cooking and entertaining an absolute pleasure if you are so inclined, and don't forget to enjoy a glass of wine and perhaps a cigar as you sit by the fire-pit on the back patio. The local Farmers Market (at the bottom of the block) on Sundays will provide you with fresh, organic veggies, meats and breads from May through late-Nov. As winter approaches, cozy up in front of the wood-burning fireplace with a book from the fully stocked shelves located throughout the house. Enjoy Fall Festivals, Ghost Tours, Naval Academy football and of course, the world-famous Annapolis Boat Show. Entertaining is an absolute pleasure in this home - the multi-room high-quality sound system gives the house a warm, comfortable atmosphere year-round.
If your vacation includes work, settle down at the computer in the office/library. It has high-speed internet, also available wirelessly if you prefer to use your personal computer. The office has an operational gas fireplace for added ambiance.
The home sleeps six comfortably in two queen beds and one full bed. The couch in the living room is also a very comfortable single bed alternative, and a queen-sized air mattress is available upon request.
Free passes are provided for on-street parking for up to two vehicles, as well as local maps, and nearby restaurant menus. If you have any special requirements or requests, I'll do my best to facilitate!
Both the home and Annapolis have something incredible to offer...all year long. This home is ideal for family gatherings, wedding parties, "girls weekends", football season, Graduation, and sailing races! Use the link below to view upcoming events sponsored by the Historic Annapolis Foundation...it will help you take advantage of all the incredible events that Annapolis has to offer during your stay.
Please click on the calendar link on the right side of this page to check for availability during the next 1 year period. Feel free to inquire about events that are more than a year away too. I recommend that you to plan early...this house is always in high demand. Though if you're spontaneously planning a visit for this coming weekend, I welcome and encourage your adventurous spirit!! It's a no-brainer alternative to a hotel stay with all it has to offer.

Would come back I'm a heartbeat!
Would come back I'm a heartbeat!
This was my first experience on VBRO and it was so easy. Bobbi was very responsive and gave full instructions on everything we needed to know about the house. We have travelled to Annapolis for the last weekend in October for many years, previously staying in a hotel. Our weekend for two couples expanded to three couples this year, so we wanted to try a house rental instead. The house was just lovely and the location walkable to everything. We are already talking about renting again next year. Thanks for a wonderful welcoming time!

We rented this house for the second time to spend a football weekend in Annapolis. The house is very comfortable, clean, well equipped, and extremely convenient for anything in Annapolis. Very nice, well equipped kitchen. We had a problem with the cable box for the TV. We contacted the owner and she was very helpful in getting it reset and working again. We will rent this property again the next time we are planning an Annapolis visit.

This is a period perfect home! For those who appreciate being able to enjoy Annapolis--walked everywhere except the Chesapeake Bay Bridge! This is a delightful home and accommodated 6 of us with no problem. Would definitely stay there again if I am lucky enough to go back...

Commissioning Week 2013
Commissioning Week 2013
The property is a Historic home in an ideal location (very close to downtown Annapolis). We had also rented this home 4 years ago. The home is old (historic). Floors, doors, lack of insulation, etc reflect this...lots of noise. This trip included grandparents. Not ideal house for elderly. In particular, one of the bedrooms is on the third floor. This bedroom did not have a door (feeling of lack of privacy), and there is not a bathroom on this level. The ceiling going up/down the stairs to the third floor is VERY low causing some near misses (head bumps), throughout the week. Stairs were also hard on the grandparents. Home is in need of some TLC...exterior painting needed, wood rotting on rear door, etc. Parking passes were provided by owner but parking is VERY limited and difficult to find. Especially during busy times in Annapolis. All things considered, the house worked for the purpose we needed, close proximity to downtown Annapolis and to USNA. Owner is great, easy to work with. Provided all of the necessities (sheets, towels, equipped kitchen, etc). Commissioning week rental fee is high. There are many homes available to rent during this time of year...some for much less.

Owner response: Thank you so much for the review. I try to use the opportunity when I have something less than 5 stars (which thankfully is very rare) to address the issues that the renter had. I completely agree that this home is not ideal for elderly who have issues with stairs. The house was built in 1832 and reflects the character of that time period. Back then, there were unfortunately no bedrooms on the main floor, as it was used mainly as their living and entertaining space. While the furniture and conveniences are a nice mix of antique and modern, the home itself is historic. It was completely restored in the mid-90's with a gourmet kitchen, updated electrical, central air, etc., but it still has things like original heart of pine floors (that sometimes creak) and other things that remind you that you are staying in a wonderfully unique 181 year old home. I am currently in the process of getting permits with the City of Annapolis to make exterior repairs, which are indeed overdue, and I expect to have those completed by this Fall or next Spring depending on the approval timelines. I hope future renters won't let these temporary eyesores take away from the experience and enjoyment of the beautiful and comfortable interior of this elegant, historic home.
Naval academy wedding weekend
Naval academy wedding weekend
Six of us (3 couples) recently stayed in this home for a Naval Academy wedding weekend. Annapolis is a beautiful place this time of year, and we really enjoyed the location of this home. It was just a 3 minute walk down to the center of downtown Annapolis- you really couldn't find a more centralized location. Correspondence with Bobbi was very easy; she responded quickly and it was clear that she had experience renting this vacation home in the past. All questions were answered before I even needed to ask with her "welcome packet." Arriving and checking-in was easy even though we got there on a day when Bobbi, herself, was not able to physically be there. One piece of information that I feel would be valuable to future guests is this: some vacation homes are purely rental homes with empty closets and no real evidence of the place being "lived in." This home is not one of those; it feels more like you're a guest in someone's house or borrowing a friend's home for the weekend. If that's not something that you're comfortable with, then this place is not the rental home for you. The place was comfortable for 3 couples, though the 3rd floor double bed room is not really suitable for a tall person. The kitchen counter was our favorite area for gathering and chatting, but the outside area and the living room were good gathering areas too. All in all, I would say that this was a positive experience; however, in the future, we will more likely stay in more rental-exclusive properties as we expect any vacation rental to meet hotel standards of cleanliness and atmosphere.

Owner response: Thank you very much for your review. Any review that elicits less than 5 stars in my mind deserves explanation. In this case, we had an issue with a housekeeper who was underperforming. I do not live in the house and make it back only once or twice a month to check on the home. The guests found the home did not meet their standards, and once I was made aware, I came myself to re-cleam the home on Saturday morning. I have since let that housekeeper go, and have hired a professional company to clean the home. It costs me a bit more, but is well worth it in terms of guest satisfaction! As for the 3rd floor bedroom, indeed it does have lower ceilings and a full bed rather than a queen. The home was built in 1832 and has some unique spaces that reflect the time period of the house. Unfortunately, they were a bit shorter back then! Again, thank you for the feedback. In this case it led me to replace my cleaning staff for one that is much more professional and thorough. Thank you!
This is my second stay at this house. First time was during the summer of 2011, and now, during the winter 2012. Each time we stayed around 45 days in the house. Besides all the good things you will find there (excellent air conditioning and heating systems, fully equipped and modern kitchen, high quality linen and towels, beautiful and good taste furniture and decoration, all electric and electronic equipment, house conservation - it is from 1832!!!), you will have super good feeling that I cannot explain well. Hypothesis: a. located in the middle of historic downtown Old Annapolis, b. the house does not seems just a "rental house" what makes you feel at your home, c. the owner is one of the best landlords ever, being such nice type of "old style" American (everything should be right and proper, and good for both parties!!). I think all these things together make the house a perfect stay for someone looking for lifestyle in Maryland when working or vacationing. The house is near (by car) from shopping malls, fine foods groceries, wine shops, Washington D.C. (40 min). It has been my best experience in HomeAway, among several other good ones. My family (wife and daughters) loves the house so much that they claim it to be "our house"...

Second Time Around
Second Time Around
This is our second stay at this VRBO. Both times were to accommodate family reunions/ gatherings in a location that was fun for everyone. This charming house, the well equipped kitchen, historic Annapolis and a responsive owner were once again available to us. Our first experience here was a summer one. We had a baby shower and accommodated 3 mothers and 2 babies. This time we had 6 people in 4 bedrooms and a fire for Thanksgiving. Fourteen of us gathered for a feast. A festive downtown was at our doorstep to walk at our leisure. And yes, we will gather here again when the next reunion rolls around.

Charming Historic House in DT Annapolis
Charming Historic House in DT Annapolis
My Fiancee (now wife) and I were planning for our wedding and one of the last details we had trouble resolving was finding a place we wanted to stay for our wedding weekend that would also accommodate all the bridesmaids and mothers getting ready the day of. We emailed every bed and breakfast and all the hotels in Annapolis. All the hotels were way overpriced and didn't have availability of a very large room as the delegates apparently scooped up all the big suites. The Bed and Breakfasts were not overly responsive in getting back to us. We came across a listing for this house online and contacted the owner. She gave us a tour and we knew right away it was perfect. It was large enough that we had both of my wife's sisters and significant others stay the whole weekend with us (3 bedrooms plus an office that had this giant inflatable bed in it). There was plenty of space for the girls to get hair and makeup done. The beds were very comfortable. It had neat trinkets and paintings all over the house and you felt like you were staying in a renovated colonial house. It just felt very cozy. The location cannot be beat as you walk out the door and DT Annapolis is 15 steps away. The house came with everything...sheets, dishes, coffee pot. We didn't have to bring anything. Dealing with the owner was the best part. She was really friendly, she was responsive to emails, she was flexible with the check in and check out times, she was very responsive when we realized we had left a few items behind by accident (my favorite pillow). Much better than dealing with the rude people from the Loews Hotel.

We rented the house for a USNA reunion for three couples. Its convenient location meant we could park our cars and walk to most everything whether the Naval Academy or the Loews Hotel. We enjoyed being able to eat in on occasion ( the kitchen was well appointed ) or the convenience of dining out in one of the many nearby locations. We would stay again if the opportunity presented itself.
