As the description and photos deplicted, this property was clean and well maintained. The view from the property was gorgeous and would recommend this property to others. Participated in local activities such as white water rafting and ziplining which was a blast! Local restaurants that were excellent were Zeppelins, Rumor Hazit and Mama G's.
Owner response:Julie, I'm so glad you and your girls had a great time! Thanks for the kind words....and I hope you will come back again soon. Kathy

We had a wonderful time here and enjoyed all of the area activities.l However, my favorite moments were when we ate dinner of the porch and then sat back and enjoyed the view with a bottle of our favorite wine. Thanks, Brad & Glenys

Thank you for replacing the fireplace logs so quickly, as it was cold and windy for our weekend. But we enjoyed a cold game of golf and some fishing and a crazy ride in a four wheel drive. We've been coming for 20 years and have good memories each time. Thanks Kathy.

This is not our first time renting from VRBO. Arrived on a Saturday. The cable tv did not work. Owner claimed it worked for the last folks. We called the cable company for help. They had to come out, but not until Monday. The cable company replaced three connectors. The gas fireplace did not work. This place was dirty. Pots and pans hung from the ceiling along with cob webs. Every pot, pan and dish that was used had to be washed first. The inside of the very old kitchen cabinets were nasty. The refrigerator seals were moldy. Who knows when the top of the refrigerator was last cleaned. . The kitchen sink was disgusting. No one cleaned it. Very few towels for the two of us. I have thrown away better. This mountain cabin was left cleaner than we received it. Prior to renting, the owner acted like she was doing us a favor by not charging me a cleaning fee. The owner took this off VRBO, shortly after we left. We feel so that we would not be able to comment. We never expressed our disappointment in being misled. A wise note to renters, if the owner does not provide you with a lot of photos.... run.
Owner response:Laura, I'm so sorry the cable was on the fritz when you arrived. The wind and storms on the mountain cause problems sometimes. The gas logs in the fireplace were new as of November 7th, and I'm sorry you didn't understand the directions. I 'm sure that was frustrating . I have the home cleaned before and after every visit, but sometimes my cleaning lady misses some spots. I always leave 6 towels, 6 washcloths and several hand towels, since my home sleeps 6, and they are in good shape. And I have never taken my listing off of VRBO. I would really be surprised if more pictures could show a dirty home and a TV that wasn't working, wouldn't you. I wish you the best in all of your future travels. Kathy

We had a great time at the Mountaintop Cabin. It truly is on the "mountaintop", with spectacular views. With the home being built on the side of the mountain, you almost feel like you are in a tree house. All the comforts of home too. Everything you need is there. We had dinner on the patio porch dinning area almost every night. Lots of nice hikes/walks right on the same mountain. Close to town and convenient to everything yet it feels a million miles away when you are at the house. And the view overlooks nothing but mountains. No towns or power lines in this skyline, just beautiful trees, clouds and nature. So much to do in Clayton and surrounding areas. We stayed for a week and it flew by with waterfall hikes, gem mining, antiquing, site seeing and shopping. If you have kids, don't miss the "Goat's on the Roof" road side stop. It's a hoot! Kathy was a great host. Communicative, and pleasant to work with. We would highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone who wants to get away for some real R&R, Thanks Kathy.

I stayed just 3 days, and I loved it! Stayed in April 2010. The cabin was comfortable and safe. We went to Dillard's (10 minute drive) and had an awesome dining experience. We rented a pontoon boat on Lake Burton (20 minutes away). It is a beautiful lake with LaPrades Marina and awesome homes on the lake to look at. We visited Tallulah Gorge (10 minutes away) and we rode bikes at that park. We also visited Unicoi Park and Helen GA, saw both of those in a 45 minute drive. I'd stay a bit longer next time!
Owner response:Thank you Paul for your comments. I'm so glad you had a great stay.....and gorgeous weather. I need to try the pontoon boats myself sometime soon! Kathy
