Maggie Valley cabin description

Come cure your 'crazies' in a luxury cabin (The Nut House) nestled between the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Cherokee Indian Reservation at over 4,500 feet elevation. A herd of elk has recently migrated to within just a few miles of The Nut House and can be seen at all times of the day! Beautiful mountain views from the dining & living rooms, both master bedrooms, and large rec room. Home boasts over 3,200 square feet of heated space and sleeps 10 comfortably in two king bedrooms, queen bedroom, a bedroom with two twin beds and a comfortable futon in the rec room. Just 1.2 mile gravel road off the main Highway 19 (Soco Road) is well maintained & easily accessible. Snow can hit fast and unexpectedly, therefore, 4-wheel drive is HIGHLY recommended during the winter months.

Enter on the main level through the kitchen fully stocked with every amenity imaginable. In addition to stool seating for four at the breakfast bar, the square dining room table seats 8 comfortably and allows for easy flow of conversation between a large group of people.

Enjoy the ultimate privacy in the upstairs 574 square foot master retreat. Soak in the made-for-two garden tub before turning in for the night on the luxurious pillow-top king canopy bed and sleeping between the soft and warm flannel sheets. Enjoy breakfast in bed with the island cherry side table or sip your coffee while taking in the glorious view from the lovers couch.

Enjoy a cozy evening by the stone, wood-burning fireplace in the living room (firewood supplied) or while challenging your guests to a game of cards at the poker table in front of the large picture window overlooking the mountains.

Satellite TV on each floor. Also on each floor is a DVD player and a stereo with cassette, 3-disc CD changer and turn table, so bring your old LPs for a blast from the past!

Enjoy the numerous amenities in the 425 square foot rec room complete with pool table, air hockey, chess & game table and very comfortable futon which sleeps two. Second master bedroom on ground level has pillow-top king sleigh bed and its own bathroom.

Let the 45 jets of the 6-seat hot tub soothe away your worries while you soak in the majestic mountain views. Rockers, porch swing, tables and outdoor gas grill are just a few of the amenities you’ll enjoy from over 700 square foot of porches & decks. In the evenings, toast marshmallows and enjoy story telling around the camp fire ring. Firewood is supplied.

Just 1.4 miles to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway and many walking trails, mountain biking trails, ATV and dirt bike trails, driving trails, mountain overlooks, streams & waterfalls and other adventures. Toward Maggie Valley 4 miles to Tube World and another 4 miles up to Cataloochee Ski Area. Visit the locals at Starvin’ Marvins’ convenience store just 1.2 miles away. They offer all your last minute shopping needs such as beer, cigarettes, milk, bread, etc., and they have the cheapest gas around! Half a mile from Starvin’ Marvins’ enter the Cherokee Indian Reservation and follow 10 miles to Harrah’s Casino and Resort.

Take a 25 mile, 45 minute ride to The Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Cataloochee Valley. Arrive at dusk to see the elk come out in abundance to graze before retiring for the evening. About a dozen of this herd has broken off and is within just a few mile of The Nut House and can be seen at all times of the day. Or browse the numerous shops and have dinner in one of the cafés in quaint downtown Waynesville only 12 miles away. Asheville and the Biltmore Estates are just 30 miles east. Horseback riding, hiking, skiing, tubing, site seeing, shopping, and more await you. Come visit the Nut House soon!

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: I grew in PA and after the blizzard of '96 and taking 2 days to dig my car out of the driveway I said, 'I'm outta here!' I moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, where my family visited twice per year since I was born. Of course when you live at the beach & walk on the beach every morning, you don't got there on vacation. I found Maggie Valley and started camping here off the Blue Ridge Parkway. When I was ready to invest in property, I just couldn't find the right fit, so started looking at land, and just loved the subdivision. In 12/05 the Nut House was complete and I used it as a second home. Like so many of us transplants here, I fell in love with the mountains and hated leaving each time I drove back to Myrtle Beach. I thought, life is too short, just do it! So I moved up here with my fur babies & they love it as much as I do! We now rent out the Nut House and live in the home I built a few years ago. Best move I ever made!

Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley:
Peaceful serene area with excellent expansive mountain views, so many trails, waterfalls, creeks, etc., all within the subdivision. Remote, yet close in to amenities. Neighbors are nearby but not too close & always there to lend a hand!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
So close to everything, yet remote area. Excellent mountain views, just 2/10 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway once you get the 1.2 miles out to Hwy 19. The elk have migrated here to within just a few miles of the Nut House and can be seen at all times of the day, but mostly at dusk at the same special spot most evenings to graze. Majestic creatures so close. Directions to special spot are supplied upon rental.
