Asheville cabin description
This is what you come to the mountains for! The Glass Mountain Treehouse is poised mountainside overlooking tranquil ponds with water features in a picturesque setting. This cabin was lovingly hand built with wood from the land by a local craftsman. You'll understand why we call it a treehouse with all the natural woodworking inside and out. It is nestled on 4 hikeable acres. This is an upscale rustic mountain retreat with many exciting things to do on-site, i.e. rock staircases, numerous ponds, bold rushing creeks with waterfalls, open loft area, open decking, etc. Parents with young children strongly cautioned. Maybe the reading nook nestled across the suspended walkway will be your favorite spot. Mine is the natural log and glass shower with pebble floor surrounded by windows that open for an outdoor shower experience. For all its woodsy appeal, HDTV's upstairs and down and hi-speed wireless internet access will satisfy the techies.
You'll really appreciate the scenic drive that is just under thirty minutes to downtown Asheville and even less to Black Mountain. You can feel your cares slipping away as you meander through the peaceful mountainside. Wind through horse farms, fishing ponds, fields, homesteads and massive rhododendron groves. Bike and auto enthusiast beware you'll want to spend all your time driving around on some of the best roads for cruising and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just minutes away. You shouldn't leave without checking out Chimney Rock Park only 20 miles away and Lake Lure is just a little farther. There are so many activities to do within one hour whether your passions take you inside or out. This is truly a special place.

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful, rustic cabin. It was so peaceful, relaxing and very convenient to everything; yet still in the country. We had no problem with our GPS navigating us right to the house and everywhere else we went. We saw a black bear eating apples under a tree down the road as we were coming to the house the first night. The dogs barked out the car window and scared him off before we could get a picture. We visited the Biltmore, hiked Chimney Rock and enjoyed a couple local Vineyards. The Autumn leaves were in full color and simply spectacular. We loved this place so much that we called and extended our stay another day. Thank you for letting our dogs have a vacation too!

great property for family trips!
great property for family trips!
My family and I, ages 22-75, enjoyed the cabin rental. It slept 6 adults comfortably with two in each of the beds and one on each of the futons. We found the attention to detail in the construction of the cabin to be very interesting and it has a very authentic feel about it...I can't emphasize this enough! Additionally, the modern kitchen was well equipped with enough cookware to prepare breakfast each morning and seating capacity for six. The cabin has a large screen TV and all the electronic gadgetry that caters to the tech oriented travelers, but we all left those interests at home. Although the property is about a 10 minute drive off the main highway its remoteness provides a very nice rural and safe setting to share time with family. There are a few restaurants nearby and two grocery stores with a 10-15 minute drive. The 20-25 minute drive to the Biltmore, Chimney Rock State Park, and Blue Ridge Parkway make the location desirable. We were delighted to find an abundance of firewood to use in the fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Overall, I would highly recommend this property as one that would please most any ages and interests.

30 year anniversary getaway
30 year anniversary getaway
We had a great time getting away to celebrate our anniversary. The rustic look was a piece of art and we loved looking at the craftsmanship of the house. It is close to Asheville, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and don't miss Bat Cave, NC. ( a note on travel: don't depend on GPS to find your way around, you will lose signal in the mountains. They had some travel guides in the house that were helpful but a map of the area would be best to have as a backup.) At the bottom of the driveway a glass blowing shop and house is being built. That will be another interesting attraction soon. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the wrap around front upper porch and could see for miles. We enjoyed long walks through the woods behind the house as well. There is a drought now so not much water in the creeks, but beautiful! The only negative for us was the fact there were no window coverings or blinds so we felt "exposed" at times especially in the upstairs shower but overall we really enjoyed our stay and would like to go back. Our thanks to the owner for opening up your vacation home for others to enjoy too. I know you love having it!!

Owner response: Thank you for spending your anniversary in our cabin we are so glad you enjoyed your stay!
We loved the location, the property and the atmosphere. We would not rent again as a 7 person sleeping arrangement as it affords privacy for 4 only and the 3 other sleeping arrangements available are not comfortable or convenient. For four we would.

Owner response: Thank you for taking your time to write a review. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. As represented in all marketing both in writing and photos there is a king bed in the upstairs loft, queen bed in the downstairs bedroom, a full size and a twin size futon in the living room. We'd love to have you stay again!

Our weekend in the Woods.
We so enjoyed our time in the Tree House. It was just so wonderful to get away and enjoy the peace and quiet for my husband's 7 th birthday. It was a so enjoyable that we could take our two dogs with us. It was facinating to see the woodwork in the cabin and also enjoyed our nightime visitor.

Absolutely Amazing Week!Guest comment entered by owner
Absolutely Amazing Week!
We are enjoying our last evening at your glass Mountain Treehouse after a weeklong stay. We couldn‘t have been more thrilled with our stay. Our first evening here we had a horrific downpour of rain. We were later told the area had a lot of rainfall for the past couple of weeks. The next morning we had sunshine & 70’s, which we were blessed for our entire week. Due to all of the rain, we enjoyed the roaring sound of the waterfall and creek on the property. The kids had a blast playing in the stream. I decided to take a long solo hike around the property. I came upon a bear cub and I think I frightened the poor thing! He cried and cried and climbed up to the top of a tree. He wouldn’t stop crying so I figured mama bear must be nearby, so I better keep moving! Loved the shower! Beautiful bridge leading to the reading nook! We enjoyed many trips into Asheville. We loved our meals at Chai Pani (Indian), Early girl Eatery, Wicked Weed (great beer selection), Jack in the Wood (amazing blue grass jams were going on), White Duck Taco shop (delicious and inexpensive) and the Local Joint, just down the road in Fairview. Be sure not to miss the Local Joint – doesn’t look like much from the road (attached to a convenience store) but it was an amazing meal and all items come farm to table. Friendly staff as well. Believe it or not we did cook many great meals here at the cabin. We sure enjoyed using the grill, spending a lot of time on the porch. Every morning we would enjoy our coffee in the rocking chairs, enjoying the sounds of nature. We enjoyed the rocking chairs each evening as well listening to the frogs and other creatures. We white water rafted on the French Broad River (with blue Heron) and rode horses near Lake Lure (Cedar Creek Stables). We drove over to Black mountain and enjoyed the charming shops. I could write for pages and pages but need to leave room for others. We love the serene environment and all of the amazing craftsmanship in the house. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you!

Lovable Log Cabin
Lovable Log Cabin
We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The cabin is just beautiful. There are so many artistic details throughout the cabin. It was extremely clean and stocked with what we needed. It is far enough away from town but within a close drive to experience many activities offered in the area. I loved the hiking trails right on the property. I saw a bear cub my first morning there deep in the woods. We met the wonderful neighbor down the drive, "Victor", he jumped our car battery that had died. There is a beautiful waterfall / stream nearby that we could hear from our open windows. Our children (ages 12 and 10) just loved the cabin and property. We hope to come back soon.

We had a lovely time. Loved enjoying asheville and then coming "home" to the treehouse outside of town. Huge shower upstairs and huge tub downstairs, awesome porch and kitchen. Comfy bed. Way nicer than a hotel! Honestly I can't think of any negatives...if you are going to aheville daily it is a bit of a drive (20-30 minutes), but it's so beautiful, and the house is fabulous! I didn't want to leave!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We fell in love with this place the moment we saw it. It was rough finished with all the character and potential we could imagine. The bridge to the reading nook sold us. My husband is a master craftsman and finished the treehouse so you can't tell what is original and what we added. I love all the unique aspects of the cabin, it is far from ordinary. Whether hiking the property or lounging in one of the many special places we relish simply relaxing.
