Situated on 32 acres, Oak Glen is a charming secluded stucco home built in the 1970’s. The great room has a fireplace, cathedral ceiling, original art and large expanses of glass for viewing a relaxing pastoral setting. The dining room and garden room have views of pastureland and old oak trees. Off the dining room is a small screened porch for quiet moments.
The large family room with a pool table offers a place for conviviality, has beautiful views and opens onto a patio. Off the family room is a small office with a PC computer, high-speed internet connection and a wireless router. The kitchen is fully equipped. The first level also has a study with TV, queen sleep sofa, and is next to a full bath with tub-shower combination.
On the second floor, there are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has floor to ceiling corner windows for viewing the pastureland, queen bed and en-suite bath with tub-shower combination. It opens onto a small deck. The second and third bedrooms also have beautiful views and share a large bath with tub-shower combination. One has twin beds that can be made into a king, and the other has a double bed. An elevator goes most of the way to the second floor, except for the last six steps, which have large handholds for safety, making the house especially suitable for those who need some assistance with walking.
The house is five minutes away by car from restaurants and shopping and 45 minutes away from Disney World, using the Lakeland Highlands entrance to the Polk Parkway.

Map & Owner's Profile
Oak Glen - 3 BR, 3 BA Home on 32 Acres with Pastoral Views
Year Purchased: 1972
Why the Owner Chose Lakeland
This property is special in that it is on thirty-two acres, with views of another thirty acres of wetlands, and yet is still within the city limits of Lakeland. The house five minutes from stores and restaurants by car, and a long walk from a convenience store. At the same time, when you stay at the house, you will have a feeling of being out in the country, since much of the property and the land of the surrounding area can never be developed.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Walking around the area and enjoying the views is a special experience at Oak Glen. You will also have enough space for outdoor games of all kinds, and fresh fruit is available from the orange and lemon trees in season. A caretaker lives on the property so you will have prompt attention if there is anything you need.
Owner's Map of Lakeland
We are four owners, and we are all married with children. The picture above l is of one of the owners, Fonya Helm, and her husband, Neil. We visit Lakeland whenever we can, since we all grew up there, and we enjoy staying in the house, which was home for our parents for many years. We have a special attachment to this place and love the cows and the views of the wetlands.

Lots of space!

This is an older residence with somewhat dated kitchen and baths, but the amount of space, the views, and other amenities more than compensate. It is clean, had everything we needed, and the caretaker who lives nearby is extremely friendly and helpful. My husband and I and four grown children had plenty of room to enjoy our reunion. The pool table, piano, music stands, fireplace, orange trees, and cows gave us plenty to do between trips. The swans on Lake Morton and the manatees at the power plant in Tampa were some highlights of our trip. We didn't need to eat out much, but we did enjoy Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille in downtown Lakeland on our last night.
