We were pleased with our stay at the Güfenauf. This area is very quiet and the beaches are peaceful. We love to fish so it was nice to be close to the boat ramp and beach access. The house was very clean and well equipt. The owner is a great man, we were able to meet him and chat for a little while. Will definitely like to visit again. Also my husband loved the Oysters at the raw bar. He said he will have to eat there again! I'm not a sea food fan so I had the BBQ - it was very good too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time, did exactly what we came to do........absolutely nothing. My husband & son took a fishing charter out for the day and caught their limit of spotted sea trout ( still haven't eaten them all yet ). When we weren't shelling along the beaches, we went sight seeing. Had a great time at Indian Pass Raw Bar, loved the atmosphere and the food. Would definately consider coming back to the Gufenauf at Indian Pass.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a fantastic week at Gufenauf! We had everything we needed, and more, at the house. And we had the best weather we could have imagined in late October. 83 degree days, sunny and bright! And clear nights where the stars looked as if they were in 3-D. The walk to the beach was only a minute or two away and we could hear the waves all night with the window cracked. So peaceful! We plan to return next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed a week in the quiet and peaceful world of Gufenauf. Home was clean and comfortable, plenty of room in cabinets and large fridge. Indian Pass is pet friendly, and our dog really enjoyed his first beach visit. We kept him in a crate while we were gone, but long runs on the beach helped keep him and us in good shape! I"ll be back next year, for sure ;-)Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Just finished up a week at Gufenauf at IP. Couldn't have gone any better. Real nice accommodations for three to four folks. About 100 yards from the an infrequently visited part of the beach and in a very quite neighborhood (that, as a bonus, is real close to the Raw Bar if you like oysters). Just loved the respite from normal "life". The owner is a very nice guy to deal with too. Will definitely visit again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Well we just got home this morning and we feel like we left part of us at Gufenauf.... This was a long overdue vaction for our family and it was greater than we could ever imagine. We are in our mid 30's and we have 4 kids 12, 9, 7, & 4 are there ages. Any reserves or concerns of not knowing what to expect of the area, house, or beach went right out the window. This place is so great. We went to the beaches on cape at the st joes penisula state park and found to many people, a ton of sea weed, and our way back to our own private beach. Port st joe or Apalachicola are about a 20 min drive and you find shops, groceries, resteraunts, oysters, shrimp. At our beach (haha... look there I'm refering to it as ours) our beach is so special, the sand bar out a ways provides so many spectacular things. Fishing, the Dolphins we watched working together to get there catch of fish. even one night the Dolphin was swimming in the wave 10 ft off shore, thought it was going to beach itself it was so close. Every night the six of us walked the shore until we couldnt see anything more and then we relaxed. The shells we found here were so fun and plentiful. There was plenty of varieties of shells and we spent alot of time looking and collecting. Everything you could want is right here. The Fishing guides are within a mile and more reasonable compared to port st joe marina. The Indian Pass Raw Bar is a must at least once while your here. The Oysters and stuffed shrimp are AMAZING. We tried several places while we were on vacation traveling and locally and this was The BEST.. We wished we would have saved our money and spent it all at the Raw Bar it was that good and Right there close to Gufenauf. Last of all the house. Thanks for letting us in and be a part of your home. Gufenauf is a Blessed place. my wife and I have never been at such peace. everything we needed was there. The owner called and made sure we made it and everthing was ok. He answered all the questions quickly when we inquired. The house is clean and maintained. Thanks Again. Reviews are what sold us so I hope it does the same. I hope this place stays the Forgotten coast because thats whats so special. This is what a vacation should be and we are already planning the dates of our next of many years of visits to come.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was my 4th time at Gufenauf and THIS was the best vacation I've ever had (keep in mind I just returned from the Key's) and here's why: I cought my first fish, I got to ride a horse on the beach at sunset, I got to see a 36" wide sea turtle laying her eggs in the moonlight then crawl into the ocean, my family caught a 5 - 6 ft gator (yes, I said a gator as the brackish water meets the salt water right there), a 4 ft hammerhead shark, a small blue shark, a small black tip shark, big sting rays, tripple tail fish, cat fish, sail fish and probably 3 - 4 more that I can't remember. The weather was hot but no rain (except for 1 1/2 hrs). The beach was almost empty and the stars were beautiful. The only thing I would strongly suggest is that you bring everything you might possibly need as the store is 30 to 45 minutes away and some things are more expensive than you might pay at home. Unless you get bad weather, you won't be disapointed with Gufenauf.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I were long overdue for a vacation and wanted to just get away and do nothing and have fun doing just that......it's all at the Gufenauf!!!...........Don't pass up the raw bar and of course the St. Joe's Beach down in San Blas is ten miles long, just in case you want to go for a real long walk. We had a wonderful time but we ran out of goof off time!!! Hats off to Ralph and his great little get-away! Great stay!!! Patrick & Diane.Recommended for: Age 55+

My wife and I recently got back from the Gufenauf in beautiful Indian Pass, FL and we are already counting down the days until next year! The house was clean, well maintained, and Ralph even called a couple of times to check and make sure we had everything we needed. All of the amenities at home are provided at the house and the beach is only about 50 yards away. The loft atop the Gufenauf is the best feature - I recommend opening up the windows to feel the breeze and listen to the ocean while reading a book (and sipping your favorite cold beverage). The beach was phenomenal and felt private. Most of the time we could look in both directions and there was not a soul around. We saw dolphins swimming close to the shore, herons that would come within twenty feet, and the best shelling I've ever seen. The Indian Pass Raw Bar right up the road is a perfect spot to eat and hang out - I also recommend Boss Oyster in nearby Apalachicola. I definitely recommend the Gufenauf for anyone who wants an affordable, relaxing, and carefree vacation without the stress and hassle of a crowded beach. We can't wait to visit again next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My bride and I wanted to get away and do a little fishing in St. Vincent bay , so we hooked up the boat and headed to Gufenauf. Perfect place to accommodate our needs. plenty of parking for the boat , close to the boat ramp. The house was well stocked with linen and quiet convent . Plenty of dishes in kitchen to cook a little for ourselves. Owner was extremely nice. and his quick response to our offer on his place was our decision maker. . By the way - we didn't catch any fish....... (fishin' not catching). But our view was incredible !!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I have just spent a week in heaven on earth. We fished, swam and saw where baby sea turtles crawled across the sand to the ocean. At night, we walked on the beach by the moonlight and sat by a campfire. Totally awesome.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Loved, loved, loved our stay here. We aren't crowded beach people and this was the perfect place for us. We practically had the beach to ourselves and it was July. The house was the perfect size for us and it was very quiet all around us. I think we brought the rain with us though. We never got to see one of those spectacular sunsets. Guess we will just have to go back!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had the best vacation at Gufenauf and Indian Pass. It was our first trip to the area and we were amazed that on a holiday weekend we had the beach basically all to ourselves. Gufenauf was perfect for us. It was very accommodating with a dvd player, clean bath towels, a full kitchen, and outside shower for washing the sand off. From the house it is just a short walk down the path to the beautiful beach. We have found "our vacation spot" and can not wait till our next visit! Thanks Ralph for sharing your little slice of heaven with our family.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house was fantastic! Ralph was very helpful to me, as I literally waited until 2 days before to book this vacation (Luckily he had availability still)! The house was clean, literally about 150 feet to an almost private beach and provided us a week of great sunsets from the porch. I will certainly be back again! While you're there, try out the little outdoor cafe at Triple Tails off of C30Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at Indian Pass and hope to return soon. The Gufenauf had everything we required and a great location. Something that made it really special was the owner, Ralph. He was helpful and concerned with our needs. In all my years of rentals he is the only owner who called and checked with us during our stay to insure everything was fine and we were having a good time. I highly recommend this rental. Ralph, First off I want to say thank you for being so awesomely patient with me and my forgetfulness. Second, I would like to let you know that we had an amazing time. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and accomplished our goal of relaxing. We were almost the only family on the beach. We walked it seemed like forever and never met another soul. The sand was so white and clean. On our third day there we saw 5 dolphins swimming only inches away from us. One of the dolphins even came up on the beach and jumped back into the water. My girls were overwhelmed with excitement. I have to say that we have been to the beach many times, but it has never been this relaxing. We sat on the beach for hours at dusk and my girls had so much fun they were sad to go. This was a very memorable vacation. Again, thank you for allowing us to spend the week in your beach house, we made memories that we will never forget. Hopefully, we will be back next year! Thank you! We stayed at the Gufenauf at the end of April 2009, it was great. The beach was very private, we saw 10 people the whole time. The fishing was great and the community where the house was located was very quiet. The Gufenauf had everything we needed and was very nice. We had a wonderful time, we will be back. Our family had a wonderful time at the GUFENAUF, over the 2009 spring break (March 28 - April 3). The house was well furnished and had everything we needed, and was located just a few steps from the beach. The beach is the best in the world. The Indian Pass Raw Bar just down the road was awesome and a must for lunch or dinner for great sea food and good conversation. There is no better place for fishing from the beach. Our 10 year old son caught more fish than expected. Also a great place for walking the beach finding shells and sand dollars. We often saw the local peacock walking around the neighborhood. Don't forget to visit the nearby town of Port St Joe and Apalachicola and the local state parks. We will definitely be back again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This place was top notch. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. We have 2 young children and love the fact that you can walk the beach and find the most amazing shells because the beach is almost deserted. The best thing is to rent or bring a golf cart and tool up and down the beach - its so much fun and you can build so many memories with your family. Ralph called us each visit to make sure everything was okay. The place is clean, comfy and makes you feel at home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our beach house has only been available for rent for two years as of this posting. We are averging just under 3 rentals per month. That's outstanding. The people who stay here come back. Why? because they love it. It's a cute little house, that's priced right, on a beach that's almost deserted. What's not to like? Did I mention that it's very very quiet with sunsets and stars to die for????Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
