Private and with a remote feel, yet within minutes you can be hiking beautiful Acadia National Park (two locations), shop multiple Mount Desert Island boutiques, or head to LL Bean outlet 18 minutes away, go whale watching, play golf (famous Kebo Valley in Bar Harbor) or other public courses. Miles of roads at the end of driveway for mountain biking, or go to the awesome Acadia carriage roads and bike and hike at all levels of difficulty. Multiple bike rentals are available. Kayak rentals (sea and lake). The high speed "Cat," a car ferry to Nova Scotia and Portland is located in nearby Bar Harbor. Or, of course, you can just sit on the deck and listen to the loons, watch for eagles and ospreys over the lake, fish from the dock, swim, grill some burgers, lie on a float and watch the clouds change shape, or pick local blueberries in season. The best of both worlds awaits!
