Owner's Map of Lago Vista
We bought this vacation rental for ourselves but started renting it to others while not using it. It because so popular we got another. We live in both Austin and Los Angeles. We like the smaller town feel the Austin area offers.

Renters Beware

My husband, daughter, and I stayed at this "resort" recently. When we arrived around 3pm, the a/c was not working. The owner was quite slow about the response and finally by 7pm, the a/c was working. Our entire day was gone while we waited to see if we would have to relocate for the evening. After our stay, the owner abruptly said he was not able to compensate for the hassle and inconvenience in any way. Not exactly a vacation weekend. A few other uncomfortable points about this "villa" were that the shades in the bedroom do not block out the sun in the morning so when the eastern sun comes through in the morning at 6am, you're wide awake! The pictures that the owner posts online about this unit show that it's surrounded by water. This is falsely advertised. Lake Travis is experiencing severe drought and there is not water around 3/4 of the resort. Very sad and sneaky of the owner not to release this information before booking the unit. Also, the restaurant/bar is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings which is undisclosed as well. My husband also had to change two lightbulbs in the units bedroom and dining room table area...not exactly a well maintained property. The pool was nice but only in the morning before the direct sun hit in the afternoon.
Owner response:She had called for directions so I knew they were arriving soon and was at the Island at the time so I met her, her husband and daughter in the parking garage offered to help carry some of their luggage and showed them to the unit just after 3pm. At that time the a/c was working (set to 76) so she lied about that. She called at 5pm to say it was 78 degrees in there and it was very uncomfortable. I told her I was at least an hour away drive away at that point and would be there as soon as I could. It took me about an hour and a half to get there. Being an hour plus drive away I wouldn't say I was "slow to respond", especially on a Sunday evening. I got to the unit, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Her husband was very nice and a pleasure to talk to while there and their daughter was adorable. She claims it ruined her whole weekend because she couldn't go anywhere for a few hours. I never stopped them from leaving or doing anything, that was her choice. There was no reason it changed anything they had planned because it could be fixed with or without them there. As far as "a few uncomfortable points." No one has ever complained about the shades not blocking out the light in the bedroom. Yes , more light comes in when the sun comes up but I've stayed there a lot, have slept in and never had an issue with it being too bright. She is wrong again about it being false advertising about the lake picture because the picture was taken from the unit. The lake does fluctuate and I also don't have a picture of when the Island flooded once and you would have had to take a boat to get to it. The pictures also don't show the new carpet that was just installed so maybe she was right it's actually nicer then it was. As for the light bulbs. I stayed there the night before they did and the only bulb I didn't turn on to test was the night stand lamp so she could be right about that but the dining area light had all 5 bulbs working when I tested it. In fact I had just finished painting over the scuff marks on the walls a few hours before they arrived so she is just in another world when saying it's not a well maintained property. She wanted a refund for the first night stay because it was slightly warm for a couple hours. I couldn't believe the comment about the pool area only being nice in the morning before the sun hit in the afternoon. Hello this is Texas in the summer, what a surprise it's hot in the afternoon sun. Some people are just impossible to please.

We came for our 8th anniversery and had a wonderful time. We had all we needed for our stay and I really loved the tub. The dvd's were a nice extra for a lazy evening on the couch. I hope we can come back again soon. PS. Friday night karaoke in the bar was a blast.

Stayed there for Valentine's weekend with my wife and it was very relaxing. It was very nice and clean and good get away but was a cold weekend. Would have loved to be there during the summer months because it would be even better. It was a steal for the price. Thanks.
