ATTENTION: Historians & Civil War Buffs! This is the Historic "Armstrong House" built in 1853. Used as US Army Union Headquarters by future President General U.S. Grant and Army Of The Potomac's General Meade May 9-14, 1864 during the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse. This is where Gen. Grant wrote the famous letter: "I'll fight it out on this spot if it takes all summer" later becoming a presidential campaign theme, book and movie.

After the Generals left, the house was used as a hospital for another 10 days to care for the wounded and dying. Dark stains in the original heartwood pine flooring are said to be that of blood and are telling witness to the horrors that occured within its walls.

Strange creaking footsteps, rattling doorknobs and other mysterious occurrence have been known to frighten off residents, guests and house keepers. After several such occurrences several former residents and maids left suddenly...swearing never to return.

This newly renovated 4500 square foot, six bedroom, three bath home (2 Queens, 2 Fulls, 1 Twin) features a full-motion security system. The house also has dual pained windows and a modern updated kitchen, appliances and bathrooms, and a private 8 person Jacuzzi that features a new one bath pool-house, both are enclosed for your privacy.

There is also a three-car garage with a private office that is also security monitored. Finally, for the horse owners there is 11 horse stalls and tack shed with running water and electricity, a nice roomy barn and three paddocks with riding access trail all the way to the Ni river.

Step back in history, stay at Union Headquarters and gaze through the very same windows where Generals Grant and Meade watched the unfolding of the historic battle of the "Bloody Angle".
