About Property Managers: Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways)
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he spent the additional money required for the personalized South Carolina license plate "KIAWAH" (which we still own today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape (3563) and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah Property Owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will!!

This villa was beautifully appointed and felt like home! Truly is only 1 minute from the beach - the walkway is right outside your door. We stayed here with our toddler son and it was a perfect fit for a family with one child. It was very clean and the screened in porch made for a beautiful seating for dinner and coffee every night. Would highly recommend!

Our first impression of the Beach Cottage was that is was a lot larger than we thought it would be from the photos. It greatly exceeded our expectations. It was very clean and the furnishings were top notch. The bedding, the furniture, the appliances and the décor all reflected the exceptional good taste of the owners. The condo was completely stocked with everything we needed for our week’s stay. Kiawah Island Getaways was easy to work with and provided all kinds of tips and suggestions to make our stay extremely enjoyable. The location provided very easy access to the beach and a short walk to the market. We would not hesitate to book through Kiawah Island Getaways for our next trip to the Island.

This is a darling villa that exceeded our expectations. We were graciously welcomed into what felt like our home for the weekend. The Lawson's provide everything you could possibly need for a relaxing time together. We enjoyed Kiawah's beautiful property, and this villa's close access to the beach. You do not sacrifice one thing in this case not being ocean front. Kiawah is so relaxing offering large beaches, endless bike trails and lots of shopping and restaurants on or close to the island.

This listing is exactly as pictured. Villa was immaculately clean and well appointed with darling furnishings. Although the villa is not beachfront, it is a very quick walk to the beach. The screened-in porch faces the trees, and is a wonderful respite from the 100-degree heat. It's perfect for two people-more than that would be a tight squeeze. I very much enjoyed staying here!

The condo was very cozy--like staying in a friend's home. We loved the landscape views out from the screened porch and the quick walk to the beach. The bikes were great and we spent the day Thursday riding from one end of the island to the other. Thanks so much.

Stay in a hotel? Never again! After our stay at the Beach Cottage how could you ever think of going to a hotel? Loved it! Everything was perfect, clean and romantic. A 1 minute walk to the beach. Strange as it may sound, I cooked almost every night! We're planning our second trip back. See you soon!

Wonderful, peaceful stay. The villa exceeded expectations and was exactly what we were looking for. The beach was quiet and except for one rouge stingray, everything was just fine. There was great food all around and we were not disappointed.

I have only positive things to say about the Beach Cottage. It was beautifully decorated. It was a two-minute walk from the beach. It was outfitted with everything a vacationing couple could need. I appreciated the fact that everything was high quality, from furnishings to kitchen tools to beach chairs, you name it. It was very quiet, and the screen porch view into the palms and magnolias was very nice. Of the many attractions of Kiawah, I especially enjoyed the wide, uncrowded beach and the 30 miles of bike paths.
