Comfortable Apartment in Quiet Location
- Minimum stay:4 nights

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Rome, this comfortable, medium-sized apartment is an ideal base from which one can easily explore the many wonders of the eternal city while experiencing first hand the Roman way of life.
Recently decorated and newly furnished, this apartment consists of one large bedroom, a living/dining room, a fully-equipped modern kitchen, full modern bath, and two balconies overlooking the Aniene River as it meanders through this section of the city. The apartment is serviced by an elevator and garage parking can be arranged.
Many local trattorias, bars, shops, and markets are scattered throughout this quiet, residential area to help you enjoy the Roman life to the fullest. Meanwhile, the treasures and glories of the historic center of the city can be reached in a mere 20-25 minutes by express public bus transport.
Furthermore, the apartment is located just two blocks from the new terminal servicing the city's direct rail line to and from Rome's international airport. These trains operate most of the day and night at 20-minute intervals both to and from the airport. These trains take approximately 40 minutes from the airport to the station near the apartment. This is just as short a time as any taxi can cover the distance from the airport. The cost for each person on the train is less than $10 whereas a taxi for 2 from the airport to the city is approximately $70-80.
The owner's daughter lives in the same neighborhood and acts as the on-site agent. She greets tenants upon their arrival with the keys to the apartment and pertinent information regarding the apartment, neighborhood, and the city. She is, of course, bilingual and can provide invaluable assistance, if needed, during the tenants' stay in Rome.
The one most prominent advantage that many of our tenants express is that they truly enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the apartment's residential neighborhood after a day of sightseeing in the center with the hordes of tourists, noise and clamor of the City center. Also, the opportunity to enjoy the many restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias in the neighborhood surrounding the apartment that serve true Roman cuisine. These are mostly family owned and operated and cater to the area's residents. The cost for a meal here is much less than in the center where establishments cater to tourists. Just another way one can experience the Roman life by living among everyday Roman residents.

We have rented this apartment several times in the last few years. Our last visit was for 2 weeks in Dec. of 2008. The apt. is roomy, comfortable and pleasant. The views from the balconies allow you to view the river below and the city around you. We especially enjoyed shopping for fruit, veggies, meats, flowers, etc. at the nearby, daily street market. Two supermercatos( supermarkets) are also close by. The bus system is regular and easily used to reach the center of Rome. The owner's daughter(a resident of the area) is extremely helpful. She will meet you at the train station, give you tips to enhance your stay, and answer all your questions regarding bella Roma. We have always enjoyed our visits to the area and apartment.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Bill and Pam, along with several other couples and past tenants are among a group that have rented our apartment several times. We are always anxious to increase and upgrade our services and amenities to such renters since they are our best advertisement of the quality of our facilities and premises. Their satisfaction, comments and suggestions are the standards that we strive to achieve and promote in the presentation of the rental property.

We stayed at the Monte Sacro residence for six nights in December 2012. The place is clean, well-preserved, and within an easy connection from Rome’s Fiumicino International airport. There are some excellent restaurants and groceries stores within just a few minutes walking. We would definitely recommend the apartment to budget-minded travelers as well as those who would not mind using public transportation to get to downtown Rome and its vicinity; it takes about 30-40 minutes to reach the center of the city either by bus or by subway. Also, without stating the obvious, the apartment is in an apartment building, and with that come occasional noises at night, or neighbors getting to go about their business at five or six in the morning. Overall, we liked the residence and would highly recommend it to others planning their visit to Rome.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

Fantastic Christmas and New Year's Eve in Rome!

Our group of 4 adults spent 9 days in Rome and the apartment could not have been more perfect. We did not want to be in a "touristy" or noisy place and wanted to be able to relax and enjoy the holiday in a home-like atmosphere, rather than hotel. The apartment is beautiful-in fact, much nicer than pictured or expected. It is spacious and clean, lovely bathroom and unlimited hot water. The location is in a residential neighborhood with some wonderful restaurants, bakeries, weekend open air market, wine bar, etc. The bus stop for the #84 is literally across the street and the #90 express is 2 blocks away. Both take 20 minutes to the Piazza Venezia,(Victor Emanuel monument) where from there you can walk to the Ruins, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, etc. If you arrive or leave from Rome Airport, the train for 8 Euros is also literally around the corner so no need for expensive cab or shuttle. Marilee met us on arrival and oriented us beautifully. she even had the apartment decorated for Christmas with a little table top tree. We had lunch on Christmas day at Nero di Seppia, a few blocks away, and loved it so much we went back for New Years Eve. there is a great wood fired pizza place also we went to twice, and a delicious bakery on the same street as the open market. We had no trouble taking the city bus everywhere-Vatican, Borghese Gallery, etc. We even took 2 day trips on the train (from Rome Termini Station) to Florence and Pompeii(through Naples), and it was great to return after a long day trip to the comfort of the apartment. The city is decorated everywhere for the holidays, and though cold, we had crisp, clear weather and no crowds! Some Americans might be put off at first by the graffiti on the outside of the buildings in the neighborhood, but rest assured, that is normal all over Rome, and the apartment's building is gorgeous, with marble tile throughout, with an elevator, and the apartment has 2 balconies with a view of the river and the park. We watched fireworks all over Rome for hours on New Years Eve from the balconies. If you like a hotel and want to walk out your door to the city center-don't choose this lovely apartment. But, if you want to live like a local in a beautiful apartment, ride to town each day with the locals, this place is for you! We will most definitely return, and hope to stay even longer! Thank you John and Marilee for a wonderful stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Three separate week stays should be evidence that we are pleased with the apartment in every way. We would and have recommended it to friends. This web site both verbally and pictorially accurately describes it. We love living as the locals including using local transportation into the center of Rome. Both John and Marilee have been very helpful in facilitating our stays.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed in this comfortable apartment for four days in mid-June, a very busy time for tourism in Rome. It was everything it was advertised to be-ultra clean, modern and comfortable. The neighborhood was easily walkable and very close to three different bus stops. Getting downtown to either the train station or the center of all the Rome attractions was a simple 20 minute ride. Coming back in late afternoon after sightseeing all day and walking the quiet, shady streets was the perfect end for a busy day. The restaurants in the area were charming, good and inexpensive. Having a kitchen to make breakfast and coffee was great and the air conditioning was fantastic during the summer heat. thank you Marilee and John for your hospitality. Being met at the train and oriented to the area after a long overnight flight was the perfect welcome to Rome.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The apartment was perfect for me and my brother. It was comfortable and well equipped for our needs. We especially appreciated having the kitchen to prepare breakfasts and dinners. The location was very convenient. The owner's daughter, Marilee, is very gracious and gave us very good information about groceries, transportation, etc. Both my brother and I will definitely recommend the apartment to anyone traveling to Rome. Thanks to John and Marilee for the wonderful accommodations and for all they did to make our stay in Rome so wonderful.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The casa at Monte Sacro allowed us to go back in time 40 years to our early married life. Shopping in the open market, daily interactions with the merchants, just living as we did when we first arrived in Rome would not have been possible were it not for the apartment. Plus, it had a lot more amenities than we had 40 years ago-hot, ample running water, wifi that was reliable, a wonderful daughter who was so helpful, American TV, a coffee pot. Kitchen was equipped perfectly-we ate in every night.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

All details were beyond expectations and Marilee's primer on bus/train service served us well. The 84 bus was perfect. Neighborhood was friendly and prices were reasonable. Have already recommended your apartment to a business associate. Best regards and "Thank You" for making our visit to Italy better.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: Many years ago my oldest daughter married an Italian living in Rome. Since that time, my wife, Jean, and I have made an annual trip to Rome and Italy to visit her and her growing family. After some years and two growing grandchildren, it became obvious that we needed to have our own place when we came to visit. Hence, a search for a convenient and comfortable apartment for use during our visits. Luckily we found such a place in the same neighborhood where my daughter and family resided. Since that time, we have rented this apartment to tourists during the time that we are not occupying the premises. My daughter acts as our agent in Rome and is prepared to offer her services and knowledge of the city to renters if needed. We have traveled extensively throughout Italy and Europe and consider Rome to be our second home. We try to express our enthusiasm for the city and the country to our prospective renters in hopes that they too will we able to experience the incredible wealth of art, history and culture that the city offers.
Why the Owner Chose Via Veneto:
Besides wanting to find an apartment in the same neighborhood as my daughter's area of Rome, we wanted a place that was residential in nature, quiet, safe and if possible, family oriented. At the same time, we wanted it to be accessible to the center of Rome where one could easily explore the many wonders of the eternal city yet experience, first-hand, the Roman way of life. The apartment is a mere 20 minutes by public transportation from the very center of Rome. This transportation is very reliable, convenient and accessible. There are many amenities in close proximity to the apartment. Restaurants, Trattorias, bars, shops, street markets, supermarkets, banks, post office, department stores, pharmacies, etc, etc. that help one to enjoy Roman life to the fullest. Also, the apartment is located just one block from the new terminal servicing the city's direct rail line to and from Rome's International airport. This is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Rome and the residents are mainly upper middle-class in stature.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The apartment is on a street that borders the river so that from the apartment balconies and windows one looks out over the park -like area that surrounds both sides of the river rather than into someone else's apartment across the street. The city has made a pedestrian-cycling path along the river that extends a couple of miles. At various intervals, this path has benches for pedestrians and playgrounds for children. Since the neighboring residents all live in apartment buildings, these areas are their backyard when the weather permits. Day and evening this path and these areas are used by the community for their leisure and socializing. It is a great opportunity for renters to experience the daily life of resident Romans and to participate in the life and sights of the city in comfortable, affordable surroundings. One can enjoy more privacy, space and freedom and save on hotel bills while savoring the local culture. In the neighborhood there are many excellent , family owned and operated, Trattorias, Pizzerias and restaurants that serve typical Roman and Italian cuisine at very reasonable prices. Since these establishments cater to the local Romans, rather than to tourists, the food and service are superior to many of the restaurants in the center of Rome that cater to the many tourists.
