Great place to enjoy best of Roatan

Just back from Honduras, spent last 4 days of our vacation at the "Wood House". Would definitely return. We (husband & 12 year old daughter) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This house is in perfect location-2 minute walk to all great restaurants, beach, yet out of the way enough to be pretty quiet & off the main drag. House is aesthetically cool-almost Balinese style. Master bedroom building has comfortable bed, dresser like shelving, quasi built in bookshelves (with books), ceiling fan & tv. Main house has super functional kitchen, all working appliances. Bathroom is spacious with plenty of clean towels, sheets & hot water. There's also a comfortable double bed & another tv. There's also a cool outdoor " living room" (2 couches, few chairs & tables + hammock. Along the "back wall" is another half bath & washing machine. Area is covered & essentially has 3 walls. Great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee & a book or an evening beer. There's also a cool looking outdoor shower. Lots of privacy & great foliage. Local property manager, Tanjah was really friendly & helpful without being intrusive. She can give recommendations & help you arrange anything. Another huge benefit to the house is the Lily Pond restaurant next door. Amazing food, we literally shouted over the fence to order appetizers & desserts-yum! Only downside I can imagine to this property is that it's not directly on the beach. Being directly on the beach in Roatan however generally would mean a loud, not private, smaller location at a much higher price. Stay here, enjoy yourself at a reasonable price & walk 2 minutes-overall, a MUCH better call. (Did I mention Woody's grocery store is truly a 1 minute walk).
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.

Hi David, I'm so sorry that I haven't gotten in touch with you yet but I've been overwhelmed with work since we got back and my computer died as well (which is why this is coming to you via my IPad which has slowed things down as well). Anyway, we had a terrific time. The house was marvelous and just as I remember it from several years ago. We didn't use the washing machine so I don't know what you are referring to in that regard. Everything seemed fine. I don't know if Virna is responsible for having toilet paper there but that was no big deal - we just went to the market down the street and got a few rolls along with some candles once we realized that the power went out about once a day. Otherwise, she met us when she said she would, was very friendly, and everything else was good. The weather was just about perfect - low 80's and partially sunny. The B&B next door was new since the last time I was there and we loved the food and enjoyed the owners. The only real problem was that we had to leave after just two days! So thank you so, so much for the use of your house! We had a wonderful time and hope that we can get back there again some day. Best wishes to you for the holidays and once again, THANK YOU! Kevin & Bonnie

A marvelous house, so near all the restaurants & shops in West End. Be sure to try the only Indian restaurant in Honduras, Ooloonthoo. The food is fantastic! The Argentine restaurant is also very good. For diving go to Reef Gliders. Barry & Sarah Pope keep dive parties small and run a professional shop. The Wood House is a joy to stay at.

If you are looking for nice, quiet, a beautiful setting that's easy walking distance from all that West End has to offer, this is the place. Well maintained, everything in good repair with a local contact that is available but not intrusive if you do need something. I would definitely recommend this location to other "non-resort" travelers who want to see some of the best that Roatan has to offer. Velva's Roadside Cafe, a semi-local place just across the road offers very reasonable and VERY good food and it's a short walk to Sundowners Bar, where the younger crowd hangs to discuss the day's diving. We will definitely try to go back to Roatan and the Wood House will be in our plans

The Wood House, in my opinion, is the most charming, beautiful residence in all of Half Moon and West End. Every day I considered myself pretty lucky to be staying where I was. The 5 minute walk is so convenient, and at the same time it is nice to be a bit out of the main stream of the cars and noise. Thanks so much for a wonderful time.

Hi David and Mary! My friends and I had a GREAT time in Roatan...it was exactly what we were looking for on our spring break. West Bay was beautiful, as was all the coral reefs and sea life. We even got the chance to get SCUBA certified, which was a plus. And it was especially nice to be able to go back to your beautiful house at the end of the day and take it easy. Lily, as well as Ella and Fanny, were extremely helpful, and we found everyone in town to be very friendly and likeable. I think we went to Rudy's so many time that by the end of our visit, they knew all of us by name. We enjoyed our stay so much that all of us were very sad to leave. I think that I can say for all of us that we would welcome opportunities in the future to go back and visit again :) Thanks so much for your hospitality.

After traveling through Guatemala a week at The Wood House to relax was just what I needed. Your neighbors, Miss Ella and Fanny are lovely and added to the ambiance. There is nothing better than having the parrot next door whistling at me. Great for my self-esteem. The weather was lovely. Great snorkeling at Half moon Bay and West Bay. Thank you for sharing your home with my family. We were immersed in the island atmosphere.

Great place! Lilly was very helpful and quite nice. Velva makes a great omelet; Brick oven and Pura Vida have great pizza. Eagle Rays is the best place for sunsets and drinks. Half Moon Bay, Lighthouse and Bite on the Beach all have great food. If you want a little noise go to the Twisted Toucan. Capt. Alex will take you around the island on his sailboat and cook you some very fresh lobster! If you want to see Cayos Cochinos you can set up a day trip at Roatan Rentals in West End.

We really enjoyed our week in your house. Evenings on the deck! Lilly made our stay perfect. We went swimming with the dolphins, snorkeled, and had dinner at different restaurants. Half Moon Bay Restaurant and Bite on the Beach were our favorites. We will definitely be coming back. Hola, as the parrot next door keeps saying.
