We rented this house as a "staging" area and home base for out of town family during a wedding at Evergreen Lake House. Everything was as promised, and very clean and comfortable. Special thanks to the owner for conducting a "welcome" tour to make sure we knew what/how to deal with hot tub, gas grill, and amenities. At first my family (most from New England) was shocked by the drive to the house (it seems like a major climb from pavement to a gravel road to the "blind" driveway) but our host assured me it would be "routine" by about the third climb...and she was right! Great experience!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks Martha! Glad you had perfect weather for the wedding. I was thinking about you during it. You left the home awesome and we thank you publicly! We hope you come back and visit again. New red oak wood floor going in this fall! Is in the garage acclimating! Take care.

We arranged a girls weekend trip and booked this house in Evergreen, not knowing what to expect, and it completely surpassed our expectations! The house is cozy and comfortable and the views from the upper level deck and hot tub are amazing! We saw wildlife and deer everywhere - they'd walk right up to the house. It was exactly what we needed for a relaxing weekend and we are wanting to make this an annual trip. Definitely worth it :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Erika, Thanks for the kind words. Hope you can come back! Rebecca

I remember walking into the home and our first expressions were "wow!" What a gorgeous home! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could not have asked for more! There were 6 of us for our weekend getaway plus a baby. The accomodations were perfect for all of us to sleep comfortably and enjoy the beautiful scenery around us. The home and kitchen were stocked with everything we needed and there was plenty of room for us to lounge and play. We were almost snowed in for the weekend but Rebecca, the owner, took extra special care of us by plowing the drive and ensuring we were comfortable and safe. We'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Alli, Its been a pleasure to host you again. We look forward to your visit next year (or sooner). Its been a winter wonderland this spring but the hummingbirds just started coming yesterday (4/25) so summer has officially started! Rebecca

WHILE THE HOUSE HAS FEW LITTLE QUIRKS (WHAT HOUSE DOESN'T?) IT WAS JUST WHAT OUR FAMILY OF SEVEN NEEDED. WE GATHERED FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO HAVE A NEW YEAR WEEK TOGETHER. LOTS OF ROOM FOR EVERYONE. ROOMS WERE COMFORTABLE. KITCHEN WAS EXCELLENT AS WE COOKED ALMOST ALL OF OUR OWN MEALS. DEER, ELK, AND FOX IN THE YARD WERE SPELL-BINDING. THE ELEVATION OF 8500+ FEET TOOK A DAY OR SO TO GET USED TO. 4-WHEEL DRIVE FOR WINTER ACCESS IS A DEFINITE NECESSITY. COST WAS ABOUT 1/4 OF LODGING IN SKI AREAS, AND WE WERE ONLY AN HOUR AWAY FROM BOTH DOWNHILL AND CROSS COUNTRY. STARS AT NIGHT WERE UNBELIEVABLE. DON'T KNOW THAT WE'LL EVER BE BACK TO DENVER AREA, BUT IF WE ARE, WE WOULD DEFINITELY TRY TO BOOK THIS HOUSE. PROPERTY WAS CLEAN AND OWNER COMMUNICATED WITH US WELL BY E-MAIL. DEPOSIT CHECK WAS RETURNED TO US IN A TIMELY FASHION. ACCESS TO WASHER AND DRYER WAS VERY HELPFUL; SO WE DID NOT HAVE TO PACK SO MUCH CLOTHING.Owner response: Hi Pamela & Roger, Thanks so much for your stay. You were 5 star guests!!! We hope you get a profile so your reviews can follow you and they can see our response. We do hope you make it back. Next on the list is to tile the laundry room and put granite in bathroom 3. We love the quick access to the slopes as well. Best, Rebecca & Keith

The home is very comfortable and the view is wonderful, but beware of the additional laundry charges. I had washed the sheets on the two beds downstairs, made the beds and vacuumed the rooms. In addition I had washed all the towels, the only laundry left were the linens on the beds upstairs, which we slept in the night before leaving. When I received my deposit check, which they were very prompt in returning, there was $30.00 deducted for laundry. Needless to say I was a little surprised, since I had paid a $70.00 clean up fee.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

We had our reunion of 10 people stay at this woodland palace. Atop a beautiful lookout, this property offers the togetherness of staying under one roof with the privacy of many beds and bedrooms so you can still have your own space. With 4 beds and a futon, everyone was able to have a bed and the 3 bathrooms meant you never had to wait for a shower. The kitchen is fully equipped and the grill ran for us all weekend long. There was plenty of space so that we were able to have people simultaneously watching TV, playing N64, playing board games in the living room and napping in the bedroom. And, with almost all of our group here from out of town, everyone got to experience the beauty of the mountains in the luxury of this home. Keith and Rebecca were fabulous hosts with extremely reasonable prices. Thank you again for a fabulous weekend!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: You were the best. We hope you can make it back! Someday, we hope all our visitors are repeat customers! It was equally a pleasure to work with you. You're a great communicator. Rebecca

I've rented from VRBO a dozen times, always happily. This was my first bad experience. I visited Denver where I used to live to see some friends, and I thought it would be fun to have a rental home where we could get together and hang out for a few days, BBQ, and relax. Pretty normal stuff right? Apparently not. Right off the bat, the owner, who lives nearby, told me she wanted to meet EVERYONE who was coming. Really? In every rental property I've ever had before the owner tries to stay out of your way and respect your privacy. So the owner comes over the first full day we're there and starts snooping around the house, interrogating us. Why is the hida-a-bed out? How many people are coming? Who are they? And then, my favorite part, looking in the kitchen, "why are there so many hot dog buns?" Seriously, you're going to interrogate me about why I have purchased so many hot dog buns? This is just ridiculous. The main reason we chose this place over the others that we looked at was the hot tub, but it was broken. There was no offer of discount for this. I asked politely after we left if some discount could be given, and a discount of $50 was, but then $50 more than we agreed to was taken off for additional rooms. Plus a mysterious $15 "laundry" charge (we did as much laundry as we could before the 10 AM checkout time, again, ridiculous). After seeing how filthy the hot tub was, I didn't want to get into it anyway, even if it had worked. We left the place spotless (as we always do), and my friend who has a pickup even took the garbage and recycling to town to be helpful. But our vacation was a lot less enjoyable after the bad vibes we got from the owner, and we wondered the entire time if she was going to suddenly appear and interrogate us about how many beers we had consumed or something. She was just that rude and nosy. I honestly do not even care about the money, I would have happily paid more just to not have a nosy annoying owner crawling up my backside. I could fight for the $65 but I don't want this person in my life at all. I'm not writing this review to slam the owner, just to warn other potential renters of what they're in for. What a disappointment, and for no reason at all. I wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone.Owner response: To be fair, our rates are clearly based on number of people. We do everything we can to encourage partiers to go elsewhere. When you book a home for a married couple and then the first night, you let us know your wife's not coming and you need all four bedrooms, we are disappointed and concerned. Sometimes folks get embarrassed and take it out on us. Almost 1150 reservations over the years. Fortunately, the vast majority of our guests are very high-caliber folks. Funny, the hottub (aka money pit) was broke for 3 weeks and we compensated everyone. The water was new and never used - so of course it was sanitary! $800 later its ALL new under the "hood". Rebecca

We had a group of 10 stay here over a weekend. The home is spacious and beautiful and the views are amazing. I would choose to stay here over any luxury hotel any day. The home offers so much more than any hotel and it's in an awesome location in the mountains, yet only about 30 minutes from Denver. We were so happy we chose to stay here, it definitely made our trip more enjoyable. Everything you could need or want, the house has, and the couple was great to work with and responded quickly to everything. If this is one of your considerations of where to stay, choose to stay here and I promise you will not be disappointed. If we are ever back in the area we would definitely stay here again.Owner response: A pleasure to serve you Kassandra. Glad you enjoyed the home as much as we hoped you would. We hope you come back as a group or come back individually for a romantic getaway. Take care!
