Location: Anghiari, Tuscany, Italy, Europe (Peaceful Hideaway, Convenient to Tuscany and Umbria)

Accommodations:  Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 3)

"Vista di Plinio" is a newly restored portion of a traditional Tuscan farmhouse, located in a beautiful and peaceful setting just outside the medieval wall of Anghiari, named recently as one of the most beautiful hilltowns of Tuscany. During the summer of 2007, Anghiari was the site for the filming of "Una moglie Bellisima," directed by the famous Fiorentino director (and playboy) Leonardo Pieraccioni. In 2008, Anghiari secured the Guinness World Record for the longest handmade bringoli (37 meters-a type of local spaghetti).

The apartment is the perfect getaway for a couple or party of three, fitted with all modern amenities while maintaining the character and original features it was born with several hundred years ago. Your home is a five minute walk from the medieval centre of town, with a weekly market and excellent shops and restaurants for your enjoyment.

"Vista di Plinio" is a non-smoking apartment. It has a private off-road parking space, and two entrances - one in the lower bedroom and one to the first floor kitchen and living area. It has been designed for enjoyment by adults, and because of its quiet and beautiful location, it is particularly appropriate for couples, honeymooners, artists, writers, those on sabbatical, and parties of three. Pets are not accepted. A dining terrace and small garden area is located just outside the main entry door. Table and chairs are available for al fresco meals, and the area can be lit romantically at night. A variety of fragrant herbs are available from the garden throughout the growing season, for those that want to try their hand at Tuscan cuisine.

Within minutes of the Tuscany/Umbria border, Anghiari is the perfect access point for day trips to both areas: Siena, Assisi, Cortona, Caprese di Michelangelo, La Verna, Gubbio, Firenze, San Gimignano, Sansepolcro, Arezzo and many others less known but equally spectacular to explore. Within an hour's drive are the famous wine producers of Chianti, Montepulciano and Montalcino and local food products are available throughout the year.

Italian culinary classes and one-time in-home meals can be arranged in advance with your host, a former California wine-country restaurateur, or with local Tuscan cooks (the real thing!). Shopping with the local vendors for wine, cheeses, and oil can also be booked. An events and information book is maintained in the house for your use.

Beaches can be reached on the east or west sides of Tuscany with one and a half-two hours driving. There are excellent beach/swimming areas near Pisa, or the coastal area of Cinque Terre, and ocean night fishing can be booked near Rimini. Public swimming pools are located within five minutes in Sansepolcro and Fighille.

Nearest airports: Firenze (one and a half hours), Roma (two-three hours), Bologna (two hours), Perugia (one hour). A car is recommended for local sightseeing, but not absolutely necessary. The nearest train station is Arezzo (25 minutes), and a shuttle train runs from Sansepolcro (five minutes) to Perugia (one hour) throughout the day. Bus service, taxi service and rental cars are available in Arezzo.

Sansepolcro (birthplace of Piero della Francesco), five minutes. Arezzo (famous monthly antique market, first Sunday) 25 minutes. Firenze, one and a half hours. Caprese di Michelangelo (birthplace of Michelangelo), fifteen minutes. La Verna (St. Francis working monastery), 40 minutes. Wine areas, 60 minutes.

We welcome you to our beautiful area of Toscano, and are happy to provide our experience, information and guidance for the enjoyment of your visit, be it your first or one of many trips to our area. Join us at "Vista di Plinio" for a relaxing and memorable holiday!
