Property description

Less haste

If you shrug a lazy shoulder at the thought of life’s flutters, retreat to Copenhagen Street - a home to lull and replenish your every sense. Walls of windows ensure light is free-flowing, while pastel shades compete for sweetness with stray antique chairs. And if the paintings provoke faraway looks, just wait until you see the balcony that connects the bedroom and sitting room. But no sabbatical, however soothing, should last too long. For all the drowsy stillness of the bedrooms or the gentle calm of the sleek, white kitchen, you’re not far from the thriving eateries and boutiques of Upper Street.

So much for the city

Your hosts see the beauty in Islington’s quiet Georgian streets, and the handiness of their easy access to town. Should they need to retreat any further, they head to their home in far-off Cumbria.

Get away day

Let the lift ease the strain before drawing a long breath upon the baby-blue corner sofa. There’s clarity of purpose to this summery apartment, from the washed-out whites and honeyed woods to the crisp faunal artwork and surgically clean lines.

Surrender to the crisp dining table for a pitcher of something fresh, or fling wide the balcony doors for a closer look at the city sprawled below. And at the close of a long and languid day, where better to escape to than the two soothing bedrooms with their far-reaching views.

Introducing Islington

Islington is famous, infamous even, as the stomping ground of the sharper-elbowed sort of North London intelligentsia (the older, more decorous variety prefer Hampstead). Tony Blair famously ushered in his premiership from his home on Richmond Crescent in leafy Barnsbury while his famous deal with Gordon Brown took place at the nearby and now defunct Granita.

Islington is literary London’s favoured address but also home to bankers who can get their expensive German saloons (or, increasingly, expensive Italian bicycles) into the City in minutes.

The area is essentially comprised of the long boutique and café-crammed stretch of Upper Street, which ends at Highbury Corner at the north end and the Angel at the South, flanked by the leafy Georgian squares and streets of Barnsbury and Canonbury. Essex Road is Upper Street’s shabbier tributary but that has become slightly smarter in recent years.

Ten years ago Upper Street itself was in danger of becoming an undistinguished strip of chain pubs and restaurants – a bland every High Street – but that trend has been reversed and though there are more Starbucks on the street than seems feasible, there are also plenty of more interesting hang-outs. In retail terms there are a number of good independent boutiques, particularly at the north end of Upper Street. Camden Passage, once a run of antique dealers, now has cafes and vintage clothes stores to the mix.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room, with online payment and confirmation. You get the same attention to detail and personal service too. Every home is properly cleaned before and after you stay, beds made (we can even do hospital corners) and bathrooms kitted out with luxury toiletries. There’s a maid service if you want it, as well as other hotel-style amenities. Once we’ve helped you settle in, we’re just a call away, 24/7. If it’s something we can’t solve over the phone, we’ll pop over to lend a hand. And because nobody wants to be a tourist, our homes come with personal and unique recommendations from the people who live in them – places to eat, things to do and adventures to go on.
