Great Retreat!

Guest: Oregonian (Tulsa, OK)
Date of Stay: 03/02/12 Review Submitted: 03/12/12

We completely fell in love with this home and surrounding area. We plan to return with our children to explore and relax in this very quiet rustic home. Everything we needed was there.....The setting is serene, mornings and evenings on the deck or patio were very relaxing. Having Eureka Springs nearby was a huge plus and its a fun town to shop and learn its history. The home was as advertised and the pictures are accurate and the home was very clean and well maintained.

Dream Vacation Home

Guest: Sandy K. (Prairie Village, KS)
Date of Stay: 04/30/10 Review Submitted: 05/06/10

My husband and I meet with 2 other couples the end of April each year, and we have stayed in some very nice places. This year we found our forever vacation HOME at the Rock Haus! We are very familiar with Eureka Springs (which we love for it's old-world charm, shopping, galleries, and gourmet restaurants) - but we didn't know this wonderful house, nestled in it's own little piece of woodland heaven, existed. You should have seen the six of us upon arrival - oohing and ahhing over each detail of the house. And each minute of each day presented something we hadn't noticed before - the carved wood, the thickness of the walls, the views of the creek from one side, and the green hills on the other, even a heart-shaped rock wall around a tree - for heaven's sake! The most amazing thing is that even tho the owners have designed every detail of the decor and furnishings to suit our comfort and convenience - the charm of the house is the big draw - and has existed since the 1800's. We have already booked the Rock Haus for June of this year - this time it will be a 'gals' only visit. We can't wait to show off our new vacation home in the Ozark Mountains to our friends!

Wonderful in so many ways!

Date of Stay: 04/27/10 Review Submitted: 04/30/10

Oh my! My husband and I just had a wonderful stay at Rock Haus and have already booked a longer return stay! Over the past few years, I have been on somewhat of a quest for the perfect cabin and Rock Haus might have just ended the search. It is soooo charming, yet so comfortable and functional. When we drove down the winding drive to the cabin we were immediately taken with how quickly it become “remote” from the traffic and hubbub of the nearby town. Idyllic comes to mind. Once inside, I was amazed and filled with glee at how charming each room was. They are great spaces. I can’t imagine how many people could comfortably stay there…enjoying communal spaces as well as the airy sitting spaces where one can while away the time reading. The generous deck and sitting areas are superbly comfortable and another great place to read or mingle. Or nap! The babbling brook a stone’s throw away makes for a wonderfully relaxing and soothing ambience. The cupboards, shelves and furniture continuously delighted us. Every detail was perfect. The stillness at night was amazing. So alone and far from the madding crowd. Just the deer grazing as the daylight receded and the night sounds of the Arkansas “outback” as darkness descended and the nearly full moon rose in the east. Nice. I can’t wait to return. Go there. But don’t book it when I want it!!!!

A couple of buddies and I just spent a long weekend at the Rock Haus. It was as beautiful as the photos portend. I would recommend the house to anyone looking for a nice escape in the woods while only being minutes to the charming town of Eureka Springs.

Spring Break Get Away!

Guest: KUfan (Overland Park, Kansas)
Date of Stay: 03/13/10 Review Submitted: 03/18/10

"We stayed at the Rock Haus March 13 - 17. We traveled there from Kansas with some family. We were a little unsure of the gravel road leading down to the house, and even stopped at the gas station at the top of the hill to be sure this was, in fact, a real road. (we are from the suburbs, can you tell?) But, rest assured the gravel road is safe, and the view from the valley is even more beautiful than the view from the top of the mountain. We can't begin to share with you the amazing experience we had while there. The home was perfect. The kitchen was equippted with everything we could imagine. The home was clean and the land was beautiful. There were 8 of us staying there (4 adults and 4 children aged 14,11,5,& 1) There was enough room for everyone in the house, but we enjoyed the outside so much that we spent so much time outdoors. We took hikes up the mountain in the back, walked the trails, had little fires out in the fire pit, played frisbee, baseball, and just relaxed. It was the perfect get away. We went into town a couple of times and shopped around, but our kids were so eager to return to the house so that they could run around and be loud :). I LOVE that the cell phone coverage is minimal while at the house. It kept my 14 & 11 year old in "present time" and engaged with family ;) We are thankful for many new family memories made while we were there. We will definitely be returning! Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality! -

Our families decided to do "something different" for our Christmas holiday and chose Rock Haus for our week long stay. We wanted to create a NEW Christmas memory to always cherish. Rock Haus allowed all six of us grown ups and one 2 year old to do that! We felt lucky that we discovered a secret place in Rock Haus that only a few would get to experience. Our accomodations provided not only the serenity and peace we ALL needed by it's location but gave us plenty of our own personal space as well! Thank you for opening your doors and hearts to those of us who get to experience what it might be like to be "a Kline".

Dear Kevin & Suzanne, There aren't enough adjectives to describe your home. From the minute we pulled up, we knew we were someplace magical. The grounds are amazing and so surprising how secluded, yet close (4 minutes in to downtown Eureka!) to the places we normally like to go. Funny thing though, once at Rock Haus, no one really wanted to go anywhere! The pictures on the website are good, but didn't do your place justice. You just have to experience this amazing vacation home. We will be back!

Absolutely Beautiful

Guest: Five Gen's (Texas)
Date of Stay: 06/10/09 Review Submitted: 06/23/09

This place has everything you need and more, just show up ready to relax. We had five generations here and even though it is not listed as elderly friendly it truely was. My 92 year old grandmother stayed on the first floor and never went upstairs nor needed to...it was the perfect layout on the bottom floor with a bedroom and bathroom that you could close off privately but also use in the daytime as a playroom or study nook. The view all around the house is lovely and our favorite place to hang out was in the kitchen and dining room where they even had an ice cream maker. We took pictures of our family on the steps outside the house and the backdrop was magnificant! Black bass lake was just a short bit from the house and we walked the trail around the lake and that was a fun journey. The first time you pull down on Oil Springs road you think "oh wow" but no worries, it just looks surprising at first, one time back up to the street and you'll master it....it's actually really really easy. Loved the house, the owners were great, and I would love to visit again!

What a great place to stay!!! We had so much fun in Eureka Springs over Spring Break and Rock Haus was a big part of it. My kids had room to run and play and it was so peaceful. It was just a short walk for my son and I and his grandpa to go fishing at the lake. The house is so beautiful down to the last detail. We have stayed many places, but Rock Haus is at the top of the list!

Dear Suzanne and Kevin, Thank you so very much for sharing your absolutely beautiful home with my family. As a weekend celebration for my father's 80th birthday, it really was the perfect location. It is so private and so quiet, yet so accessible to Eureka Springs. My sister and her family from Boston were quite taken with the area and you can't even believe how excited they became when momma and her 3 baby deer showed up for dinner. After seeing a coyote earlier in the day and several hawks, they thought they were in heaven. You have truely thought of everything in the house and I am so happy that I am the big hero that found you! My family has thanked me and thanked me to the point you would think I built the house. The property is perfect, the walk to the lake full of memories, and mornings around the table drinking coffee priceless. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful homeand all the wonderful information about things to do. No one would be disappointed. Margaret

Rock Haus is everything we hoped for in looking at the photos--and more. We took the family to Eureka Springs to celebrate our retirement and fell in love with this beautifully built and maintained 19th century stone home. It is very much country but within a half mile from town. We might even offer to buy the property, but I can't believe they would sell. Suzanne and Kevin are great hosts. We will return to Rock Haus whenever we can.

Owner response:We're thankful that our affection for Rock Haus has been successfully conveyed to our guests, to the point that some even want to buy it! Thanks for choosing Rock Haus.

Rock Haus Lodge

This house is more than a place to stay, sleep and eat. It is an experience, a destination, a revisiting of the past. History restored in its modified original glory. If you've never driven through this part of the country, it is beautiful scenery, rolling hills and wildflowers, spectacular! The house was painstakenly restored but with all the modern conveniences from home. My family and I ran from room to room like giddy children on Christmas morning, opening and closing doors, running up and down the stairs, calling to each other from different rooms to look at this and admire that. It has quite a presence and the attention to detail is the genious of the owners Kevin and Suzanne. The furnishings, the decorating, the accessories look like something right out of Southern Living magazine. The house casts a spell over you. The grounds are very well maintained and perfect for exploring and chasing butterflies and enjoying nature in all its glory. The appliances are all newer and perfect for making a meal for the family and the grill outside is great for cooking a meal outdoors. It intrigued me when I first saw it online and it stole my heart when i finally arrived.I t radiates a warmth that envelopes you as you walk through and when you have to leave, it is like leaving home. I'm glad we had an opportunity to experience Rock Haus in all its splendor. And a special thank you to owners Kevin and Suzanne, who i'm sure contributed much time, energy and moola to restore and revitalize such a magnificent piece of history.Your attention to detail was outrageous, right down to the nightnights in all the rooms and the beautiful handmade quilts that Suzanne crafted, that are on display throughout the house.I can only imagine all the shopping trips, scouring countrysides and internet, for all the right furnishing and decorations. What an enormous task it must have been. But truly worth every effort. Thank you for sharing this spectacular property with us. Brian & Sharon Marco Island,FL

Suzanne and Kevin, Just one more thank you for the wonderful weekend we spent at your gorgeous Rockhaus. We could not have been more pleased when we saw your beautiful home. It is immaculate and the surrounding grounds, woods and lovely stream are so "Arkansas." We love Arkansas! Visiting Eureka Springs was a "coming home" for us since we lived many years in Rogers where our son was born. To come home to Eureka and such a beautiful place to stay at Rockhaus as we celebrated the wedding, dinners and parties for our son Joshua, and his beautiful bride, Amanda, was a dream come true. Our only regret is that we were so busy while we were there, we didn't have enough time to enjoy Rockhaus itself. This is good too, in a way, because it means we will just need to come back for a relaxing and much-needed personal vacation. We also had Josh's two grandmothers staying there with us and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for both of them. They spent lots of time in the comfort of your home and surrounding grounds and loved every minute of it. Please know how much our stay added to the wonderful memories we will have of Josh and Mandi's wedding weekend. ..Gary and Judy Smith Flower Mound, TX

Dearest Suzanne & Kevin, When we sold this homeplace to you awesome people, we had no way of knowing that through your goodness, it would continue to be a blessing to our family. Memories and joyful emotions flooded into our hearts when we first set foot into the house. Our family dinners replayed decades of a loving family's years here. Each season was rich. And so we offer our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you. We know we'll be back, and that brings such a warm, ardent feeling. The kids love feeling grounded to their childhood, and it is amazing to see our grandchildren romp and roam in the same nooks and crannies and over the aged, timeless hills and mountains! Thank you so much! With our love.

Wow, what a wonderful, relaxing stay. The boys enjoyed the breakfasts with butterflies, long hikes in the rock-bottom creek bed, and the stars on the back deck. We also enjoyed the fishing lake nearby. We can't wait to come back, and are already thinking about the next visit! The may 'stuffed animals' (taxidermy) in the family room are perfect for those late night camping stories by flashlight!

Thank you for sharing your home with us! We had a wonderful and relaxing time - it was just what we needed. You have put your heart and soul into this house, which makes it a home. The artisan craftmanship is beautiful and your decor is fabulous. We enjoyed it all from the hikes, fishing, reading in the twin nook, shopping in town to quiet evenings on the deck beneath the stars. Your quilts are so beautiful, we bought two at your store to take back home with us! We'll be back and definitely tell all our friends about the wonderful treasure - Rock Haus Lodge!
