Location: Next to Dollywood, 3 mile Pigeon Forge, 10 Miles from Gatlinburg Area, Tennessee, USA
The cabin sits on 1 FULL acre atop of Parrot Mountain above Dollywood and Splash Country. Parrot Mountain Park is at the bottom of our hill! While here, you can listen to the Dollywood Steam Train whistling around the next mountain off in the distance while watching the steam roll out from the tree tops. The cabin setting is quiet with the only noise being the local wildlife going about their day. Also during certain times of the day you can faintly hear the tropical birds singing from the Parrot Mountain Park below. You can literally drive to the bottom of the mountain (1/4 mile) and there is the entrance to Dollywood and Splash Country. We also have easy access to all the bypasses into the Pigeon Forge Strip and Gatlinburg without the headache if getting trapped in the slow traffic jam on the main strip. Instead, pick where you want to go and inject yourself into that spot from the simple back routes in no time.
The cabin is surrounded by woodlands on all sides, except of course for the clearing of the view, have seclusion while still being in the middle of it all at the same time! We took a long time to find this perfect location. We did not want a cabin built on a shear cliff (if you have kids or a long night with friends, no need to worry about going skydiving unintentially), we also did not want a cabin built right on top of other cabins with the feel of having a cabin in a condo development (the whole point of getting a cabin is to be in the woods not another neighborhood). For us, we needed privacy and did not want to look at 4 other decks while relaxing on ours. This cabin fit that main criteria! We are sure you will also appreciate it yourself!
A campfire pit in the front so you can roast marshmallows while checking out the daytime view of the mountains or night time lights of the Pigeon Forge Strip, and Gatlinburg Ski Slope, while still having the feeling of camping in the woods high up on the mountain ALL at the same time!
**FAQ'S**
Question:
We are bringing small children, where are the sleeper sofas located in the cabin?
Answer:
The cabin has 3 levels.
First Floor > Media Room, 50" Sony, Xbox, DVD (play the childrens movies, Xbox, childrens shows, board games :) ) This room has 2 red micro fiber queen size sleeper sofas. The children usually sleep here if we have friends staying in the attached King Size bedroom. If it's just us, our kids sleep in this 1st floor master bedroom with the 36" TV and watch their kid shows/sleep over thing and then they are out. This floor is seperated from the top 2 floors by an enclosed stairway (keeping out the top two levels noise).
The 2nd level is the living room/dining/kitchen/master w/jacuzzi tub/fireplace/main deck/hot tub on the deck. This floor's leather couch, folds out into a queen sleeper as well. (if you want your children on the same floor with you). The second floor is open (aside from the bedroom) to the game loft on the 3rd floor.
On the 3rd floor is the pool table, tv, darts, and sitting table. We positioned it this way because we could then stay up later, while kids were in bed, and enjoy the rest of the cabin/gameroom/hot tub/deck, while the kids where asleep downstairs undesturbed due to the stairwell. The gameroom is even farther from the 1st floor reducing any "wake up noise" while the adults were being adults.
Question:
How close are the other cabins next to the Thistle Britches Cabin?
Answer:
Thistle Britches sits on 1 full acre and is on the highest elevation of all the cabins on the mountain. The cabin is surrounded on 3 sides by woodlands, and open to the front view with various trees.
Here is the perspective sitting on the deck facing out towards the view from the cabin:
Right of the cabin:
To the right is 180 degrees of pure woodlands, that grade up 250 feet to the sloping ridge of the mountain, on the other side of the ridge is another 100 acres of pure woods. If you take the short trail up there you can see a 30 mile view of the Valley on the backside of our mountain.
Behind the cabin:
Behind the cabin is 100% woodlands. The ridge follows straight back from the side of the cabin towards the back about 500 foot until the ridge slopes down and ends at a point. I have walked back through the small trail on the ridge to the point and found an awesome 320 degree view of the valley and Smoky Mountains and LeConte. It is at this point you tell is where the indians and civil war soldiers would have used to spot game or use as a lookout point.
Left-Front Corner of the Cabin
This is the 1/2 of the acre we have that contains woodland, and small brush and gently slopes down 400 foot to the end of the road below, further down the slope is a cabin of which is well hidden and more than far enough away.
Right - Front Corner
The front of the cabin contains plenty of trees to block the neighboring cabin of which is about a football field length away, this is the closest cabin to ours which is a very good distance. This neighboring cabin also is set up that their deck is on the other side so any visitors there are on the other side of the cabin from us.

We stayed at Thistle Britches from April 26-May 5 2009 and we didn't want to leave. This cabin was exactly as describe and viewed in the pictures. The owners are awesome, Jamie was very helpful with anything we called and asked him about. We loved the home feeling in the cabin and that it was well taken care of. We would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great cabin with all the amenities but far enough away for some peace and quiet.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was all they said it was and more. We had no problems, well it took me two tries to unlock the door but I had just gotten out of an 11 hr car ride lol. Not only was the cabin lovely, but it was convenient to everything we wanted to do. I loved that this cabin had a yard for the kids to play in and the view was lovely. We were very comfy here. The hot tub was wonderful after the hikes. The best activity of the trip was our white water rafting trip with Smokey Mountain Outdoors White Water Rafting. When we come back (and we will) we would like to stay here. It was well equiped to cook in (which we did almost every night). Thank you for sharing your lovely home; it made our vacation great.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The cabin had all the amenities we were looking for. I will name a few that were our favorites including: the amazing view of the mountains (the cabin was at the top of the mountain on the side we were on), having a nice big flat grassy area for our dog to play around on, a pool table, a hot tub, a jacuzzi tub, games, close proxemity to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and the seclusion from other cabins. These were all of the major things on our wish list and this cabin had them all plus some. If we had to say anything negative, the only thing would be that the place wasn't as updated as some that we did see, but we were willing to give on that since it did have all the other things we wanted during our stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

There were 8 people in my party and one dog. The location was great, easy to find and very convienent. The home had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. I would suggest bringing additional towels and garbage bags as those were the only things we ran out of. The hot tub was amazing except it wasn't covered and it rained most of the time we were there. The cabin is perfect for 6 but may be alittle to crowded for 8. The bathroom situation was unfavorable because there was no unattached bath available for use. All in all, we had a great time and slept very comfortably!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Amy, Glad you guys had a good time! There were extra towels under the TV in the bedroom downstairs where we store "changeover" linens, wish we had known you guys were running low :( Usually our cleaner leaves extra bags under the sink. Sorry to hear you had rain most of the time, definitely puts a damper on things. We thought about covering the hot tub, however we felt that would block out the stars, and open nature feeling on the clear nights which is the majority of the evenings. Eight people is the max, it is best suited for 2 couples (king bedrooms), and kids (fold outs). Yes, both bathrooms are attached to each bedroom.

This was the perfect home for us to rent and experience Pigeon Forge for the very first time. As soon as I opened my car door I smelled the pines - so refreshing! The home was so cozy, clean and beautiful, and to hear the Dollywood locomotive train whistle echo through the mountains - it was great! The week was a beautiful fall week and we spent many afternoons sitting on the deck soaking up the warm sun and looking at the beautiful mountains and autumn colors. Although it was quite thrilling driving a 1/4 mile up the mountain to get to the cabin, but once you get the first round trip done, you're good from then on out, plus, it helped that the directions were dead on! We took my in-laws along with us who has never stayed at a vacation home before and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay and the entire trip. Our little dog, Isabella, loved it too. Dixie Stampede is a must - we truly enjoyed the meal too, and Bentley's BBQ was awesome. When going to Cades Cove, go early if you want to see any wildlife. We were bumper to bumper on a 11 mile loop which was very tiring. We didn't see any bear, but we did experience one. We woke up one morning and our storage container had been broken into and knocked apart I'm assuming by a bear - I guess he was after the bacon grease!! LOL. Anyway, love this place and the big screen TV, plus it's very peaceful and far enough away from the main drag - that's what I loved!! Thank you for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We really enjoyed our last minute weekend getaway at Thistle Britches cabin! The view was fantastic and it was so close to Dollywood which made it really convenient for us. We really could hear the birds at times from Parrot Mountain and the train at Dollywood which is not something every cabin can offer! The cabin was true to its pictures and was clean, the furniture is nice and the kitchen is well stocked. There was plenty of space for our group of 4 adults and 4 kids to spread out. We spent time up in the game loft and out at the fire pit and some of us relaxed in the hot tub. We thought the seclusion was nice but yet it was close to everything we needed. Thanks Jamie and Amanda for the last minute opportunity! We will see if Thistle Britches is available next time we head that way.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This cabin was everything I expected from the listing and more. The location is WONDERFUL! Private but at the same time it is close to everything. We only had one problem that could happen to anyone at anytime. The refrigerator quit working but Jamie had a new one delivered the very next morning without interfering with any of our plans. It was awesome after a day out full of activities (white water rafting, zip lines, attractions, magic show, sight seeing and shopping) to come back and sit out on the deck and enjoy the beautiful view. We grilled out twice and had a great time just hanging out at the cabin playing pool and games. I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend quality time with my family. Thank you again Jamie and AmandaRecommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Glad you had a great time! We still haven't tried out the rafting and zip lines yet, I am still trying to talk Amanda in to it ;)

Just a quick note to say how much we thoroughly enjoyed our time at your gorgeous home. We were extremely excited based on the pictures hosted online. Upon arrival, we were blown away that the home, lot, and view, is actually more beautiful than we anticipated. Relaxing on the porch, soaking in the view, and being swept away by the sounds of the train at Dollywood and the parrots at Parrot Mountain was nothing short of incredible. The short jaunt to all local amenities, whilst being tucked away in the woods in a private luxury cabin was an absolute dream. It was a stunning experience, all around, and one we will never forget. We will absolutely return, and have already passed on the recommendation to several friends as well. Thank you for sharing this polished jewel of a property with us. We enjoyed these restaurants: Old Mill, Bullfish Grill, Smoky Mountain Brewery, Log Cabin Pancake House. We enjoyed these amenities: Dollywood, Splash Country, Forbidden Caverns, Titanic, Dixie Stampede, Hatfield & McCoy dinner show, Wonderwerks, Hillside Winery, Apple Valley Winery, Mountain Valley Vineyard. Protip: Avoid the Parkway as much as possible by using Teaster Lane, and injecting yourself onto the Parkway where needed. This is a 4 lane road that runs parallel to the Parkway, but there is literally no traffic, ever. The Parkway is bumper to bumper all day, every day. Teaster will save hours upon hours of drive time over the course of a week.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks Jeremy! Glad you enjoyed your stay! :)

Cabin was ideally located with a great view across the mountains. Tastefully decorated with decent layout. Housekeeping sorely lacking as there were dead bugs and dog hair laying around. Also battled mouse droppings all week. I don't feel this was the owner's fault as much as it is the cleaning crew but I didn't like paying a pet deposit and a cleaning deposit to go into a cabin that needed something more than surface cleaning. I think the owners have tried to supply a very nice cabin but I couldn't get past the cleaning that needed to be done.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We were notified of the your situation 3 days after checkin. We strive to keep one of the cleanest cabins in the area to meet our renters expectations and have received numerous compliments from guests on the cleanliness of our cabin. I wish I would have been called when you first found any items and the cleaners would have been resent to address your concerns. I offered to have the cleaning crew come back out to address the concerns however was told the situation was taken care of and seemed more attention was placed on the cleaning fee than rectifying it. Once notified, we immediately had pest control sent out to take care of the mouse and any other pest issues the renter had. The pics I received of 3 dead moths on the floor would be normal after staying in the cabin (in the woods) for 3 days because they will congregate around the outside lamps at night and fly in, then die, once you have entered and exited the doorways. We provided a broom and dust pan in this event. Regarding the pet deposit, this fee is for the convenience of bringing your pet along with you on vacation vs paying for boarding at a kennel. The fee helps us to replace any damaged furniture in the event a pet does do damage. These pet fees enable us to allow pets in our cabin. This is not a cleaning fee. I had also offered to refund the cleaning fee for the inconvenience but you also wanted the pet fee back too? This is definitely not a normal occurrence. I am glad you enjoyed everything else.
