La Maison Rouge (The Red House)
Beautiful house located on the southwest side of Nova Scotia on the Evangiline Trail. This area is unique to the Acadian people and their traditions. The house overlooks picturesque Baie St. Marie (St. Mary's Bay) which includes a view of Digby Neck that is 7 miles across the water. There is an accessable beach across the street that you can call your own! Sea birds, rocks and shells are in abundance as well as spectacular sunsets.
There are magnificent views from every room in the house and a sunset over the bay. All the rooms are clean, fully furnished and well kept.
The property stretches 3 acres in the back of the house and there is a small trail, up the driveway, that leads to fields of wild flowers, native birds and a small bog.
The downstairs consist of a kitchen, laundry room, bedroom, full bathroom, den and living room. The garage is connected to the house and opens into the kitchen via mud room. The kitchen windows show off the bay and a beautiful stone church that is a must to see.
The upstairs has two bedrooms and a complete bathroom with ample closet space and cozy nooks .
The linens are provided and line dried by the wind and sun!
The house is located in an area perfect for day trips. Annapolis Royal is 45 minutes away and is a quaint town rich with history , an amusement park and unique shops. Digby is 20 minutes away and has a fishing fleet that boast the best scallops in the world. On Saturdays there is a farmers market down the road that sells organic vegetables, homemade jam & jelly as well as hormone free meats. There are local artisans that sell art work, quilts and wood carvings. A basket of brochures will welcome you to get acquainted with what the area has to offer. There are a number of festivals and concerts that are worth viewing.(esp. July & August)

Well situated house for visiting the attractions along Baie St-Marie. Our family with grandkids had a great time in the area and would return. Thanks to Charline for her hospitality and helpfulness during our stay.

We stayed for a weekend during a girls getaway vacation but the house would be perfect for a family or three couples traveling together. The owner was a pleasure to work with and answered our numerous emails promptly. The house was clean and set up with everything we could need or want. There are two living rooms as well as two different sitting areas upstairs so people can spread out and have some quiet time. We met the friendly neighbors and were also left a contact number which we didn't use.

We carry fond memories of our time in Bae Ste Marie. The quaint red house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The neighborhood and its people were wonderfully friendly. We especially enjoyed a nearby fresh vegetable stand and good walking trails and excellent seafood at restaurants down the road - one with especially fine cuisine (Chez Christophe - with good local musicians too. An enchanting stone church a half block away and a beach cove a 5 minute walk from the house offered good reasons for refreshing morning strolls and captivating sunsets. Our party of four agreed that we felt we had the experience of feeling like residents of a friendly village, not just anonymous hotel patrons.
