A fabulous week.
A fabulous week.
We were two couples in our 70's. One bedroom is downstairs and two upstairs. We spent our days traveling from Middleton to the East to Yarmouth to the Southwest. Along the way we saw amazing sites and learned a great deal about Nova Scotia. The house was perfect for our needs. The laundry room is just off the kitchen. The house was clean and well outfitted. The beds were very comfortable and there were even two TV's in case we wanted to watch different things at the end of very busy days. (I think we only watched the TV one evening.) It is within 30 minutes of a number of good resturants, grocery stores and ice cream parlors. We brought home three 2# lobsters for dinner one evening. The view from the front room is breath taking. We would recommend this house for families, senior citizens or anyone interested in a central, but quiet location, to spend a week or more in Nova Scotia.

Owner response: We are so glad that the house accommodated your needs. Having a downstairs bedroom plus a full bathroom and laundry is very convenient. The panoramic view of Saint Mary's Bay is amazing and we are glad you enjoyed staying with us. Come again!
We had a great vacation in this area - close enough to different spots but remote enough to take time and unwind. Perfect blend. Staying at a house is so much better than a hotel! Thank you, Sandra

Wonderful week in Acadia
Wonderful week in Acadia
We (two 65ish couples) stayed at La Maison Rouge for a wonderful week of exploring the Acadian region. The two hundred year old house is very well appointed & located in the heart of true Acadian country. It was very clean & well attended. We had fun getting to know some of the locals, including Charlaine who was our contact for any concerns. The views of Baie St. Marie from the cozy den & parlour are stunning. It does take a little driving to get to towns or restaurants, but it is well worth it. We tooka a day trip down the other side of the bay and enjoyed Digby Neck, the ferries and the islands, as well as several parks along the Bay of Fundy. Annapolis-Royal has a wealth of historical sites & there are good restaurants in all of the little towns. A visit to the Acadian exhibit at the University of St. Anne is also a must. Very little cell phone, or wifi contact, but this is to be expected given the remoteness of the area. The house has TV and a local phone. So we didn't feel isolated & could leave an emergency contact for those who might need to reach us. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

Well situated house for visiting the attractions along Baie St-Marie. Our family with grandkids had a great time in the area and would return. Thanks to Charline for her hospitality and helpfulness during our stay.

Owner response: Thanks so much! Charline is such a great contact. I'm glad you think so too. Hope to see you next summer.
We stayed for a weekend during a girls getaway vacation but the house would be perfect for a family or three couples traveling together. The owner was a pleasure to work with and answered our numerous emails promptly. The house was clean and set up with everything we could need or want. There are two living rooms as well as two different sitting areas upstairs so people can spread out and have some quiet time. We met the friendly neighbors and were also left a contact number which we didn't use.

We carry fond memories of our time in Bae Ste Marie. The quaint red house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The neighborhood and its people were wonderfully friendly. We especially enjoyed a nearby fresh vegetable stand and good walking trails and excellent seafood at restaurants down the road - one with especially fine cuisine (Chez Christophe - with good local musicians too. An enchanting stone church a half block away and a beach cove a 5 minute walk from the house offered good reasons for refreshing morning strolls and captivating sunsets. Our party of four agreed that we felt we had the experience of feeling like residents of a friendly village, not just anonymous hotel patrons.
