The house was great, and the owners Jeanne and Dan were wonderful. The house is located in the new part of town, but we could easily walk to the village and to the beach. The house was very clean and nicely laid out, and we were very comfortable there. Empire was a great central location for day trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Leland, Point Betsie, Charlesvoix and Northport. It was our first trip to Michigan, we had a great time, we really liked the house and the area, and we would definitely go back again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time in Empire and the house was perfect. We are a family with four adult children. The house had plenty of room and was very clean. The kitchen was really nice and we cooked three meals there during our stay. The house is located in a neighborhood that is walking distance to the historic/commercial area of town. We brought our bikes and biked to town and to the beach every day. There is wonderful hiking nearby. The beach in Empire is beautiful. Overall the experience was fantastic and we plan to be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had such a wonderful time at your house and appreciate everything you did to make it so comfortable. We hit 96 degrees in Empire mid-week, so the air conditioning was vital. I simply cannot sleep well when I'm hot, and I can never understand why most vacation houses do not have air. Not sleeping well is not a vacation! The dual zone feature was great, we could make it a little cooler upstairs for sleeping kids without freezing out people still downstairs. We have been renting from vrbo.com for years, and your is truly the nicest house we have ever rented. Thank you for sharing GreenWoods with us!Did you find this review helpful? My Mother, sister and her 2 children stayed 1 week at Greenwood. We loved the "home away from home"feeling! So many activities to do---just a walk or short drive away!! If the day was warm-we went for a swim at the nearby beaches or went" tubing" on the Platte River. If the day was cool-we walked the many nearby trails, including the Empire Bluff and Alligator Hill trails. Take your camera!!! Beautiful sunsets!!! My husband and I are planning a Leelanau Peninsula wine tour with some friends this year. Can't wait!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

From the start, we had an easy time communicating with the owners in scheduling our trip. They were very helpful and informative about rental information and things to do in the area- very knowledgeable in this since they've been vacationing here themselves for 20+years! This is the 3rd VRBO property I've rented in Western Michigan, and I was impressed by it's cleanliness and updated features. I also really appreciated the time that the owners took to decorate their place with unique local art. The house was comfortable for just hanging out in the mornings until we decided what we would do for the day and in the evenings to just sit out and enjoy the evenings on the huge porch. We vacationed with our 4 young children and their grandparents. There was a ton of things to do in the area. Here are some things we loved: *Walking to Empire beach. The dual beaches are great and the kids loved the playground. *The local coffee shop (Gemma's), the chocolate shop (Grocer's Daughter), & ice cream place (Tiffany's) We didn't feel quite so guilty about all the good food since we were able to walk there! *Hiking- we found some great trails that the kids were even able to come on and other, more challenging ones that we went on while the G'parents babysat. Try catching the sunset on Empire Bluff trail! Awesome! *Shopping in Glen Arbor- we made the best of a rainy morning by doing a little shopping. The shops were cute and there were a lot of choices for places to grab a bite to eat. Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful house. We had a great time and can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
