Roomy with Great Views

Date of Stay: 11/21/11 Review Submitted: 01/06/12

Celebrated Thanksgiving as well as our nephew's graduation, with family coming in from around the country. This home was roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was spacious and supplied all our cooking needs and was also a great gathering place. For others, they enjoyed the beautiful views the home afforded. We were even able to have an impromptu pool tournament with the full size pool table! Communication with the owner before, during, and after our stay was a delight. He offered great suggestions and ensured that we were comfortable. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Perfect Retreat

Guest: Karen (Orange City, Iowa)
Date of Stay: 10/13/11 Review Submitted: 11/07/11

The women of my family had their annual retreat in this wonderful home this fall, and we loved it. Everything we needed was provided us. It's beautiful inside and out. The kitchen allowed us space and equipment to have a wonderful dinner. The view is incredible and the sunsets are beyond gorgeous. It's located so that both Coupeville and Oak Harbor are equally accessible. And Jason is wonderful to work with. I couldn't recommend this more highly.

Really Nice Place to Stay

Guest: John (Los Angeles, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/19/11 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

This is a terrific, big, house to stay at. It was very clean and well-maintained. The master bathroom is bigger than our bedroom at home. There's a beautiful kitchen, living room, and den with a pool table. There's a dining room by the front door, which is nice but you will ignore it because it doesn't have a view. The internet is very fast. The neighborhood is absolutely silent at night. The rooms are well insulated from sound and you won't hear your traveling companions snore unless you're sharing a room with them. The views were absolutely incredible. It's situated on the Strait of Juan de Fuca looking straight out at the sunset, with the Olympic Mountains on the left. The beach and hiking trails are only a few minutes away and you are literally right next to the Lavendar Farm. This is not a beach house. Somehow I had gotten that impression, maybe mixing it up with other listings. It's actually a cliff house, and unlike the neighboring properties, the brambles at the edge of the cliff have been cleared so as not to obstruct the view, which means there is absolutely nothing between you and the precipice. Google Maps in elevation mode shows the cliff is about 150 feet high. It is definitely a real cliff. I wouldn't bring young children or dogs with me. Or sleepwalkers, or heavy drinkers. But assuming you are in possession of all your faculties and don't have suicidal tendencies I don't think you can go wrong by renting this place!

Spacious Home with Panoramic Ocean View

Guest: Patti & David (Phoenix, AZ)
Date of Stay: 08/08/11 Review Submitted: 08/17/11

This is our 4th summer renting this spacious vacation home. The home is set on a high bluff with a 180 deg. ocean front view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We enjoy watching all the interesting ships pass by in the distance. We appreciate all the room to spread out. My husband sets up in the office and I set up my laptop at the kitchen desk. There is another room with a good view out the front that is perfect for artwork or jigsaw puzzles. The main living room has a pool table and the well equipped kitchen is open to the dining area and the family room. The beds are also very comfortable. Both front and back yards are huge and are great for games. Also the deck spans the whole width of the house providing a great place to eat or relax and enjoy the view. The only caution is that children under 5 need to be supervised if playing in the yard near the high bank drop off. While there is no direct beach access from the property there is beach access and a small park that is just a few minutes drive from the home. It's just a short walk up the hill to Lavender Wind Farm where we enjoy strolling the lavender fields, looking at the koi pond or just watching the exotic chickens roam in their pen. The neighborhood is surrounded by pasture land, small farms and upscale homes. It's a very tranquil area with stunning views at sunset. It's a short 10 min drive to the historic port town of Coupeville (lots of shops and restaurants) or to a great walking beach at Ebey's Landing. We also enjoy the scenic golf course at the navy base about 10 min drive toward the Joseph Whidbey State Park with another good beach.

Comfortable and close to adventure

Guest: Lollipop (Eugene, OR)
Date of Stay: 08/01/11 Review Submitted: 08/09/11

This is a very exquisite location; close to Ft Ebey State park with trails for hiking or mountain biking, close to a lavender farm, close to farm stand with fresh eggs and veggies! If you enjoy the outdoors there's kayaking trips, whale watching, and birding opportunities. We saw bald eagles from the back deck and observed the constellations from the back deck while roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The layout of the house suits privacy and good separation between bedrooms and living ares. The kitchen was stocked with many essential ingredients and well stocked with plenty of cookware/Appliances. We had only good experiences with homeowner and he is receptive to questions and provided accurate information regarding property.

Couples Retreat

Guest: Nunsuch (Johnstown)
Date of Stay: 07/27/11 Review Submitted: 12/21/11

This house was the perfect re-treat for a trip to the Seattle area and islands. The owner was great to work with and was very flexible. We rented to house for three couples in the Mid-30's. We spent the week traveling to the surrounding islands for shopping, walking on the beaches, hiking the Deception Pass Park area, and charting a very productive Salmon trip. One night the boys caught 20 Salmon. We picked up some fresh(local) mussels and selected some local wines from a Whidbey Island winery. We put all this together to make a memorable evening meal back at the house just in time for sunset. The house is extremly clean, spacious, and well maintained. It has everything you need for a couples or family gettaway. Next time we come back we are staying here... We miss the sunset views from the deck.

Great and Relaxing Whidbey retreat.

Guest: Kay (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 07/25/11 Review Submitted: 08/05/11

What a wonderful and relaxing vacation spot. I took three of my nieces on a girls trip and not only did the house provided plenty of space but the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We felt comfortable from the time we walked in the door and immediately started planning on when we could return. I gotta tell ya, the sunsets...AMAZING!!!! And when we saw the boats sailing by while we were cooking in the kitchen or enjoying a movie in the family room, we'd look at one another and say how wonderful this was. Jason was great to work with and made sure to respond to our question in a timely manner. I can't thank him enough for opening up his home. It’s a great spot and I can't wait to enjoy it again.

Perfect Whidbey Island retreat

Guest: Drew (Surrey, British Columbia)
Date of Stay: 07/05/11 Review Submitted: 07/13/11

This was the absolute perfect getaway for me and my 3 kids aged 14 thru 5. After an extremely hectic spring we needed a place to disconnect and just hangout as a family. Jason's house allowed us to do this with amazing comfort and security. This truly felt like a home away from home. Huge kitchen, fully stocked for everything a family needs. Big, comfy bedrooms! The family room was great to wind down at night watching a movie and the remnants of a perfect sunset at the same time. The home office came in handy to take care of some early morning business before the kids woke up. With all of the amenities of an amazing State Park next door, you can't ask for a better vacation retreat. We plan to come back soon...Thanks Jason!

Incredibly peaceful oceanfront property

What an awesome house! The views from the expansive yard and from inside the house are simply spectacular. We looked at over 100 houses when planning our trip to the Seattle area and had a very difficult time deciding between several houses to rent. We are so thrilled we chose this one, I can’t imagine a better place to stay. Jason’s house is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The back yard was a hit with plenty of room to throw a Frisbee or just hang out and watch the eagles fly by or track the ships through the shipping lane. The photos and description of this house are very accurate but just can't capture the sheer beauty of this property. Jason is very accommodating and easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this house to friends and relatives.

Unbelievabley Breathtaking Views!

Date of Stay: 07/02/10 Review Submitted: 05/03/11

I'm a research junkie when it comes to researching vacation rental homes & I know I had bypassed this home many times on the internet. What a mistake it would have been to not book this vacation rental! This home was spacious & immaculate with unbelievable views. Jason was so accommodating. We travel to Whidbey Island every couple of years with my sisters and their families for a large family reunion. We all rent different homes in the Coupeville area so we have many to compare to. However, this home tops every home we've ever stayed in. The kitchen was well stocked & well equipped, plenty of paper supplies, bedrooms had lush furnishings. The master bedroom, bathroom and closet are huge. Plenty of extra blankets for those cool nights on the deck. Ahh, the deck and its incredible views! No matter where we were day tripping on the island, it was a must to get back in time to watch the sunset from the deck. I took hundreds of pictures of the sunset every night, it was just breathtaking. Permanent fire pit on the cliff, movable fire-pit for the breezier nights, fireplaces, and huge grill made it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the property. Mornings we would wake to deer just off the deck. There is an outstanding strawberry farm and lavender farm within walking distance that also made for great memories. It was just short walk to get beach access and stroll along the beach. Without a doubt I would rent this property again and would consider it a privilege to stay in such a beautiful home. When I win the lottery, I'm definitely wrestling Jason for this property to make it my permanent home!
