I hesitate to wax poetic about this wonderful abode, for fear of it never being available to us again, once the 'secret' is out....and yet, I must. This place is 'da bomb'! I hope that we can visit again and again. Our son said, "This is the highlight of my summer." The amenities are more than one could ask for. The ambiance is superb. The front porch is a delight, even with the little black squirrels scolding me every morning, as I had my tea at dawn. The location is supreme, with the trails three 'blocks' away. The owners are delightful. I so hope that we can return, again and again. Tahoe Vista 2012 will live in our memories. Thank you.

very comfortable. Lots of communal space to hang out in. Owners very responsive to a small problem we had with the plumbing- fixed with in 2 hours. Kids loved all the bear stuff around and the back yard. Walk to a beautiful beach. Short drive to a wonderful, lake front play structure.

Owner response: thank you so much for the great review!

We enjoyed staying in this cabin immensely. The cabin was very spacious for our family of four, clean, and well maintained. It was nicely appointed which added to our wonderful experience here. It’s in a great location and easily within minutes from numerous ski resorts which are sure to appeal to beginners and expert skiers. Diamond Peak was our favorite for our kids, but we were also very close to Squaw and North Star. We loved the hot tub, especially after a few full days of skiing! There are also other things to do when you’re not skiing, all easily within 15 minutes from the cabin. Think beaches, restaurants, casinos (although we didn’t go to any this time), and access to lake excursions (fishing, kayaking, etc.) We will definitely consider staying here again when we want to come up to the north shore of Lake Tahoe. We had a great, active yet relaxing vacation this New Year’s week and the cabin was central to it all. We felt very much at home here and would recommend to our friends and family. Cheers!

We have rented a number of Tahoe cabins and the Bear's Lair is the most elegant and most comfortable of all. The furniture was incredibly comfortable and well-dispositioned. There was lots of space for us to each have our own space to read or watch tv, listen to music, work on puzzles, relax, sleep and enjoyed the holiday. And plenty of space to be all together as well. The fireplace was wonderful and heated up the cold cabin in minutes. We made a huge Christmas dinner in the spacious kitchen; loved the convection oven. Everything was pristine; sparkling clean. The garage entrance, barrel for skis and mud porch made it easy to keep clean. The location was great. We enjoyed having beaches and grocery store so close. Short drive to ski. Lots to do even in a year with so little snow and a nice patch of ice to skate on just a short walk from the cabin. We enjoyed star-gazing from the backyard. Exceeded our expectations.

We are so gratefulthat your cabin was available. You saved our vacation from disaster. We were so comfortable here. The beach was close. We could walk home for lunch. Kara loved mini golf in Kings Beach and we all loved shopping in Truckee. We only wish we didn't have to leave. One week is not long enough. Thanks so much, we will be back!

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home! We loved the decorations and all your bear themes. We ran from 2 coyotes, went white water rafting, hiked up mountains and had a blast. The Adults loved the master suite area and hot tub. We don't want to leave but Annapolis, MD misses us. We always look forward to coming back to Lake Tahoe. Thanks for the Stay! We'll definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time at your beautifully decorated home. My husband and I (Ohio) came out to visit our son who is working in Lake Tahoe. Our daughters (New Year City and Lawrence, Kansas) and my Mother(LA) joined us. What an amazing place to enjoy family time! Some highlights of our stay biking along the Truckee River, beautiful beaches, with paddle boards and pedal boats,Shakespeare Festival, Hyatt Catarmaran, and on and on. Equally enjoyable were things such as breakfast on the deck, reading on the patio roacker, backyard barbeque and enjoying all the amenities and comfort of this great home.

The owners were very nice and helpful when booking this cabin. I have rented many cabins before, and this is by far the best one I have stayed at. It was very cozy, spacious, and clean. The backyard was a good size for my family and I to have a fun snowball fight. My family and I are considering this cabin for our next snowboard trip.

My family recently rented this house with another family for a long weekend. We have young children that still nap and knew we'd be in the house for a majority of the time. We were very happy with this house. It was cozy, clean and comfortable. Updated bathrooms, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, etc. We would recommend this house to any of our friends!

Huge thanks for Karen and Joe for letting their beautiful cabin to us. Our first trip to Tahoe with Calif friends was perfect. With six of us in the house it was great to have three bathrooms, and what a luxurious one in the master suite! We cooked our meals as the kitchen was so fantastic. Would definitely stay there again.

A big thanks to Karen and Joe for letting us stay at their beautiful Tahoe cabin. We stayed there with our 2 year old son, and another couple (and their 2 young kids). This was the perfect set up for the 7 of us. The house is gorgeous inside and out - the kids especially loved the loft and enjoyed peeking down to the living room below. Excellent location - close to beaches and restaurants. Or just stay in and use the kitchen or backyard grill. The playhouse in the back of the yard was a surprise bonus for the kids. We'll definitely be back!

A group of us stayed at Bear's Lair Feb.29-March 5. The cabin is very modern on both the inside and outside (constructed in 2005) and had more than enough room for up to 8 people. A huge plus for us was that the house had three bathrooms. The cabin is located just off of the main road where there are a few great restaurants to choose from. Also, the cabin is just a 25 minute drive from mountains such as Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Homewood. All in all, we had a great time at Bear's Lair and I'm sure you will too!!

My extended family and I had a wonderful time in this immaculate cabin which had everything you need and then some! Karen & Joe are the absolute best hosts--checked in with us a couple of times to make sure all was well. Close to everything, yet very quiet. Definitely recommend you stay here when visiting Lake Tahoe! I know we will again.

This cabin exceeded all of our expectations. Everything is new and modern, our favorite being the fireplace. The location cannot get any better. It is located next to everything North Tahoe has to offer. We will be coming back in the winter time as well as some summer months.

This was our favorite stay in Tahoe by far. The home had everything from hot tub to outdoor firepit and was only one block easy stroll to the best sandy beaches in Tahoe! Also super convenient to all restaurants and shopping, yet tucked just far enough away to have a peacheful and quiet setting. Watching the stars at night from the hot tub and the decks and the backyard was just amazing!! Thanks for this amazing place. We had such a great anniversary getaway and we are planning our next trip back soon!!

We loved this cabin! Gorgeous, super-clean...like a brand new house! Well stocked kitchen and loads of videos. Couldn't get my 2 year old out of the playhouse in the back-which had a wonderful fenced yard for safety. Quick walk to the beach and relaxing way up high in hot tub on the second floor balcony-felt like we were in the stars. Loved every minute of it!
