Reviewer Comments: The only problem we experienced was the renters above us the first week we were there...A total of 7 people in one unit makes it very loud. Aside from that it was a great vacation :)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I rented this condo for a business stay. The wifi was easy and excellent. One thing you are never sure of is the quality of bedding with a condo, but the bed, pillows and linens were sooooooo comfortable I really looked forward to sleeping! Very pleasant lanai with lots of big comfortable chairs. Owner has interesting books, and lots of selection on the TV(s). Parking is easy. Pros: very clean, comfortable, great location. Very close to pool and grill. Cons: if you prefer AC, you have a 4-hr window when you are allowed to turn it on without charge. Temp is locked at 75 degrees. I like opening the windows and using the large ceiling fans in each room, so not an issue for me. Closeness to pool means you are essentially sharing pool time with all visitors. No one was loud or obnoxious.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was beautiful and very well equipped. Loved the pool, spa and barbeque area. Best part was the location. Kahalu'u Beach has the easiest and best snorkeling we've ever seen. There was some noise from above and next to our condo, but guess that always comes with wood buildings.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the Condo has a PERFECT location right on the ocean beach which was perfect for swimming. Snorkeling was very good, saw 4 Spotted Eagle Rays, Huge Puffer fish and great variety on the right side of the rock outcropping. Condo was very spacious, immaculate and beautifully appointed. Parking was excellent just steps from the unit. Very close to the pool and shopping.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a good time at this condo. When we arrived it was clean but had not been stocked with dish detergent, paper towels and bath tissue. I think an important detail, but the managers let us in to the unoccupied condo next door and then we had what we needed. Our bag of supplies came the next day. The pool was fantastic and we did not notice much noise from the park across the street. It's in a great location and I'd recommend this condo for families with kids. We used the beach towels and chairs and took the umbrella to the beach one day- nice to have that stuff available if you need it.

Reviewer Comments: This condo was in a great location... right by the good snorkel beach, about 5 miles from the Kona shopping area and 1/2 mile from a shopping center with grocery store. It was very comfortable. The condo was quiet, also has a nice pool and great view from the lanai. The twin beds are kid-sized, too small for our 20 year old son who is pretty tall. He slept on the couch and was fine with that. There aren't very many good swimming beaches on the big island,it is way more rocky, but there is so much other interesting stuff to do. Twice we drove 30 miles north to a sandy beach at Mauna Kea resort, it is worth the drive if you have kids that want to play and swim. For snorkeling the beach across the street is great, but it is crowded and pretty rocky, so not a great place to sit and build sand castles with the little ones. We also took a day and drove down to the volcano park, which I would recommend. We recommend eating dinner at Huggo's on the rocks - it is family friendly and not too pricey. You are right on the sea wall, they have nice live music and a hula dancer. I would love to go back!

Also there was parties across the street both Friday and Sat evenings the two weeks that we were there. They did stop at 11.00 pm We also feel that there should be some kind of recycle bin as a lot gets put in the garbage and that is not good.

Reviewer Comments: I appreciated that the condo had items stocked in the kitchen - such as saran wrap, zip lock bags, dishwasher detergent, soap, etc. The washer / dryer had soap. These staples were to be replenished as needed - and we did replenish. Excellent way to handle it! I have stayed at other places where we had to purchase these items upon arrival, and toss out when departing (such waste!). I wish I had known our condo had large beach towels for us to use. (I packed bulky towels with us.) Another feature I appreciated was twin beds in the second bedroom. We had our two college age kids with us and it was difficult to find a condo with twin beds in the second bedroom - rather than another queen or king. The condo worked out beautifully for us!! We felt perfectly at home. Thank you!

The location was perfect - right across the street from arguably the best snorkelling beach on the Big Island, Kahalu'u Beach. Our "tween" sons were constantly in the water - either the ocean or the pool. We had a blast and would highly recommend this location to others, especially those with pre-teen children. In fact, the location was recommended by a friend and we would gladly recommend it to others. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful vacation rental.

I would like to have some type of recycle system at the Villa as it would help with the amount of garbage. I feel that even if you are on holidays you should be very concerned about the environment.

Reviewer Comments: Perfect location for a young family: walked to the beach every day; snorkled with turtles; short drive to boogie boarding; lovely pool that most days we had to ourselves; fairly quiet (the beach pavilion had a couple events that ended at 9 or 10pm: late for us mainlanders!); the timer on the AC was confusing (the knob may be slightly off?), but didn't really need to use it. had a wonderful time and would return any time we go to Kona. thank you!

There were a few minor inconveniences. We didn't like that half the kitchen cabinets were locked with the owner's personal supplies. We've stayed in condos where 1 or 2 cabinets were locked, but not half the kitchen. It made storage difficult, and gave us a sense of being untrusted. Check-in was a bit of a problem. No one was in the rental office when we arrived at 8 pm, and we got lost in the dark and then couldn't locate the key. It turns out there was message in my email sent mid-June with the directions, but it would have been very helpful to have the message come 1-2 weeks before we arrived. Overall, a great stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've traveled to the Big Island many times, and have stayed in several different types of accommodations from friends' homes to hotels. We looked the building over last year and this time decided to give the place a try. Hale Hahakai is as named, right by Kahalu'u Bay and provides easy access to the water. The beach park pavilion is a popular place for parties. Music and happy people voices tend to travel at night, so if you like things quiet, this spot might not be for you. Also, Ali'i is a busy street (for Kona) and there was considerable noise from traffic well into the wee morning hours... kids driving fast and screeching tires, honking (who *EVER* honks in Hawaii? We thought this was unusual). Access in and out of the area was quick and easy. The location is close to shopping, both for necessities like gas and groceries and touristy stuff. The unit itself is small so if you tend to spend lots of time inside you might feel a bit cramped. We only used the condo as a base for sleeping and meal prep and so were gone most of the time. The only ding I would give Hale Hahakai is that the floor and shower floors could have been cleaner. Perhaps the last tenants didn't abide the no-shoes request, but upon arrival first thing I was compelled to do was sweep and mop the tile floor, as we all had filthy feet within five minutes of arrival. Also, our housekeeper arrived 2-1/2 hours before checkout time, while we were still busily packing and tidying up before leaving. That was sort of uncomfortable and weird. Overall though, 4 stars should cover our overall satisfaction level, and we would stay there again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Extremely noisy if someone is in unit above. Best to have unit on top floor. Located next to public housing. Lots of noise from park and Outrigger on weekend nights. Because of location on 1st floor we did not feel safe leaving window or door open at night and had to use air conditioning which would not be necessary on 2nd or 3rd floor.

Reviewer Comments: Great location; more helpful instructions would be a plus The Kahalu'u Beach Villas are ideally located across from one of the best snorkeling and surfing beaches in all of Hawaii. We were not disappointed! The unit was clean and had a spectacular view of the pool, palm tree lined beach, and pacific ocean. It is close to Magic Sands beach and only 4 miles from Kona Town. Some things which would make this property more perfect: 1) Pool and spa were both a bit too cold 2) The shared gas grill is great, but it kept disappearing at inopportune times, and took too long to replace when it broke. Property management needs to do a better job. 3) Some kind of guide to the unit and complex would have been helpful as it is not totally self-explanatory (e.g., where do you put trash and recycling? Which spaces are okay to park in? What are check-out procedures? What restaurants/activities are there nearby that are good? What things are available in the apartment and where can I find them? Where is the "gym facility nearby" that was advertised?) Overall it was a great stay. We would go back and recommend it to others.

For roughly the same price as a single hotel room, we had a beautiful condominium with full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, two full bathrooms, laundry, lanai, 3 flat screen TVs and everything we needed to make an amazing vacation, including some space! We will never stay in a hotel again. The management was awesome; when our flight was canceled, Chris took care of everything to make it easier for us to stay. THe team was so nice, helpful and honest, the whole experience was wonderful. The proximity to Kahalu'u is unbelievable, and when the kids were tired of snorkeling and looking at turtles, we could take a swim in the pool and relax. We couldn't be happier with our stay!

It didn't feel like a rental it felt like we were in someones home. Very comfortable,wonderfully decorated,as my children would say awesome.We enjoyed our stay and would love someday to go back. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I would stay again, and again. Very clean, and comfortable. Board games were available and my teenagers loved them! Beautiful kitchen and plasma tv!!!! Walk across the street to the beach and drive a short distance to shopping areas. Be sure to take pictures, you won't want to forget any moments!
