The sun, sand and sea are still the main attractions but, founded in 1631, you will enjoy exploring the Historic District with its quaint shops, restaurants, marina walkways, and museums. Lewes is a walking, biking, and boating town. Several skilled captains will take you on rewarding deep sea fishing trips or whale watching tours.
Lewes is located where the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean meet at Cape Henlopen. Nowhere can the beauty of Cape Henlopen State Park be equalled. In this preserved land you will find miles of beautiful beaches, nature trails, and bird sanctuaries. These beautiful beaches have been voted among the top beaches in the country - only a short bike ride away. Now open is a new bike path directly to Rehoboth Beach!
If shopping is your pleasure there are hundreds of shops at the tax free outlets just minutes away. Golfers will not be disappointed with many fine golf courses just minutes away such as Baywood Greens, the Rookery, the Heritage, Old Landing and Bear Trap. If you just want to work on your short game you will enjoy Midway's Par Three course.
With all that the area has to offer you will be sure to enjoy our bright and cheerful cottage featuring cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors and a large fenced in private backyard. Sit back and relax and read a good book in the sunny Florida room. Take a one block walk to the beach or ride your bike to the canal or State Park.
Lewes, Delaware is only a two hour drive from Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. New York City is only four hours away. From Cape May New Jersey the Cape May/Lewes ferry will drop you off minutes from your Summer paradise.

We have been vacationing on the Eastern Shore all of our lives and always looking for the perfect place to vacation and live. We found in in Lewes and especially Lewes Beach. The Downtown area of Lewes is quaint and has a lot to offer with shops and restaurants. Cape Henlopen State Park is our favorite place to go for a bike ride - and the new bike path will let you bicycle from Lewes to Rehoboth Beach! The beach is one block away and outlet shopping is minutes away on Rt. 1. If you are arriving by ferry the Cape May - Lewes Ferry is minutes from our house. It doesn't get any better!! Scott & Becky
