The renovation of this 1908 Farm House has just been completed you will enjoy old world charm with new world amenities, this apt. feels fresh and new. The 2nd floor unit includes two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and 1 with an extra twin bed, one bath, comfortable living room, and full kitchen with breakfast bar. There is also a cubby area within the living room that hosts a single futon, which can be used as an extra sleeping bed. The private second floor deck is a wonderful spot where you can sip your morning coffee, dine, or just sit and relax. We've done our best to make this rental as child friendly as possible. A play-n-pack, highchair, and toys/books are available. There is also a fabulous park 1 block away with a huge play area. Basic Cable TV is offered, as well as a stereo, DVD/VHS player. This is a non-smoking unit.

We offer a child friendly home. Provided are a Play-n-Pac, high chair, toys/books and a baby gate to block the staircase.

This second floor residence is located blocks away from the Hawthorne Boulevard as well as the new and fun up and coming Belmont area. Hawthorne is lined with locally-owned coffee shops, antique stores, cafes, and trendy clothing shops, many with a bohemian flavor reminiscent of the 70's. Belmont is lower key but offers it's own unique style. Enjoy the many popular restaurants and pubs, which offer sidewalk seating or wander among the tree lined neighborhoods where the bungalow and craftsman homes have been restored to there natural beauty.

We also have beautiful Laurelhurst park 1 block down. The 30 acre interior of the park is defined by a large pond, the walking paths that snake through the landscape makes for great wandering, with plenty of benches and nooks to drop down on for a moment of repose, or perhaps some lunch. The park also provides a great kid friendly area.

A major bus line is conveniently located one block away. We're seven minutes from downtown; ten minutes from Portland State University, fifteen minutes from Oregon Health Sciences University; and about 20 minutes from the airport.

Our home is strictly non-smoking, no pets. There is a 2 night minimum required for all advance reservations. A (1 or 2) night rental + cleaning fee may be considered based upon availability when booked within 5 days of arrival.

  • My husband, our toddler son, and I recently spent 5 nights at the Duplex. It was so spacious and comfortable. I loved the convenience of being in a home-like environment complete with all the kid-friendly touches like a pack-n-play, highchair, and baby gate. I can't imagine why anyone would spend a comparable amount to stay in a small hotel room when accommodations like this are available. Hawthorne is a short walk away and has lots of cool shops and restaurants. Portland is such a small city that a short drive can take you pretty much anywhere else.

  • The house was a wonderful home away from home for our family Christmas. Our daughter lives in East Portland so we wanted a place close to her. The house was warm and cozy and we felt very much at home. The beds were extremely comfortable and the location was perfect. We hope to stay again in the future.

  • "The Duplex" is a charming, tastefully decorated, well-located, child-friendly place to stay. Nearby Laurelhurst Park was a hit for my toddler! Family meals, hanging out in a "home" environment, plenty of space...it beats a hotel hands down. Thanks Shelley and Chris!

  • What a great, funky spot, both the location and apartment itself. We have two kids, 2 and 6, so the quick block to beautiful Laurelhurst Park was a real bonus. Shelley and Chris were quite helpful and prompt in replying to any questions we had, big or small.

  • We met up with family and spent three nights in this bright and friendly home while traipsing about the city to do "city things". A very comfortable attic floor space with lots of personality and warmth (and all those marvelous odd-angled ceilings and corner closets that you only find on attic floors!) We were very charmed and would definitly stay again.

  • We stayed in this duplex for almost four weeks. The apartment was roomy and comfortable, and the location was ideal - less than 15 minutes to downtown by bus. Hawthorne is delightful and the park very pleasant. The owners were extremely helpful and very responsive to our questions. We intend to return sometime in the future. Highly recommended.

  • We had a wonderful stay in that lovely centennial house all renovated. The house has a cachet and present modern features. It has lots of daylight and it’s well decorated. We felt like being home and really appreciated to have a well-equipped kitchen to cook our meals! It is close to everything and it’s easy to get downtown by bus. The owners are friendly. We had all we needed to have a fabulous trip. We will certainly come back and recommend the house to our friends.
