A mere 8 minutes from downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Estate Entrance, these rustic cabins beckon the weary traveler. Dee & Tom Howald are delighted to share their magnificently hand-crafted log cabins. Weathered by the elements of time, this country hide-a-ways have been hidden from view for two generations but are now available for year-round rental, by the 2 night minimum, week, or month-whichever you prefer.
Restoration experts have worked their magic on the each cabin's interior and have restored them to their original 1890's splendor. Eager visitors will be surprised to find antique furnishings accentuated by the Howald's special country touches. Trompe l'oeil paintings, hand-hooked rugs, quilts and comfy beds abound. Picturesque views, coupled with refreshing mountain breezes make DUNROMIN and DUNGOUGHIN an ideal alternative to hotel living. The Howalds have lovingly restored their TWO BEDROOM CABIN,DUNROMIN AND FOUR BEDROOM CABIN, DUNGOUGHIN into a retreats of unparalleled delights. DUNGOUGHIN IS SUCH A WARM AND INVITING PLACE TO STAY ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE JUST COMING IN FROM AN ALL DAY HIKE. WE WENT OUT FOR PIZZA AND JUST THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OURSELVES. THE REAL COUNTRY ANTIQUES AND ART DISPLAYS IN EACH ROOM ARE JUST BEAUTIFULLY DONE. TOM AND DEE HAVE DONE THEIR HOMEWORK, SO CLEAN AND SO VERY HOMEY. ALL 8 OF US HAD A GREAT TIME. THIS WAS TRULY OUR BEST GIRLS GETAWAY IN A LONG, LONG TIME!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We came here a bunch of men and women friends from church and school to hang out and have a great time. This place is amazing. Just right for us. Private, safe, gorgeous views and just a most gorgeous unique cabin. It is something you can't explain. We had such a great time. The owners Tom and Dee are just the greatest people to get to know. They have lived here a very long time, raised their kids here I can't imagine growing up here. Heaven on earth I tell you. Best wishes to all who make this your place to stay; it's kind of life changing in a great way, a true place away from the busy world. They will work ith you on price too, so don't be afraid to ask. Our accommodations are marvelous and the location is perfect, peaceful, quiet, beautiful, but so very close to Asheville, Biltmore Estate, restaurants, fabulous bakery. Actually you name it this location is the greatest! The owners live on site on their 27 acre working estate. We can't see them and they can't see us. We are doing giant private fireworks this evening and we are so looking forward to it. The weather has been cool, but no snow except on the mountain tops. We have had such a great holiday here at Dungoughin Cabin very near Asheville. Such a perfect place to enjoy the mountains and our destination Asheville! We thought we would go skiing, but since there is no snow we did some hiking instead. It was so great to get back to our warm and homey cabin. After we ate a late dinner we went outside to sit at the fire pit. Not one of those fake pits but the real kind made fom real stones. It was so great to see all the stars, the big dipper was so clear. It is like a planetarium. I highly recommend this place for your Asheville vacation. We enjoyed our comfortable stay here in Dungoughin for our pre holiday family get together. It was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a nicer stay. We spent most of our time at Biltmore House, seeing the House at night with all its Holiday lights on. A GREAT PLACE TO BRING YOUR SMALL PET! We had a wonderful, fabulous, special time. It is even better than it looks on the web site: www.ashevillencnccabinrentals.com You just have to come here and it makes you long for this kind of peaceful lifestyle. Tom and Dee have been here 43 years, and have their own following of people who come to Asheville area. You will love them, they are so helpful and just thru the trees if you follow the sidewalk thru the trees. They are great to their guests and very devoted to each other and their guests. This place just cannot be described. I found out about it from friends at church. I just called dee at 18286450324 and never even looked at their web site! It is the most beautiful location. close to Biltmore House, close to Asheville center, Biltmore Village for shopping, you name it. Dee and Tom gave us great tips for eating out. They have lived here for 43 years and have their cattle and one llama fenced just far enough away. They have the cutest dogs Buster a Coton de Tulear and Bonnie a King Charles Blenheim white with perfect brown spots. Tom and Dee run a really tight ship and have a great deal of knowledge about Biltmore Estate and the entire area. Dee even took us to a jewelery maker , gorgeous beaded jewelry, one of a kind . I think each of us bought a piece. This is the place for arts and crafts. Galleries galore. Just much more than any picture could show. This place is just the right place to have a family get togetherl. It has beautiful wooden floors, 4 bedrooms and two pull out couches. two levels so that you aren't on top of each other. The location is great, just off the beaten path, with every thing so close. I think we stayed at the cabin and got off that work wheel and went back more happy and in a much better mood than when we came. Amazing bit of beauty with total peace and quiet. This place is a jewel. Great location for Asheville area. Tom and Dee are the greatest with information on where to go, what to do, whats going on and what is not to be missed. Oh my gosh the food!
