The Tigullio Bay ( 40 kilometres east of Genoa) stretches from Portofino to Sestri Levante. Chiavari is a typical Ligurian City, good shopping, good restaurants, historic Cathedral, and the well known antique market, and daily fruit market, Wonderful speciality food shops (but also convenience supermarkets too)
East of the Tigullia bay is the national park "Cinque Terre" which is best reached by train (30 minutes from Chiavari), five miles of rocky shore, thousands of kilometres dry stone walls, famous vinyards, five "Cinque" little villages "Terre" once only possible to reach by sea. The dramatic coast falling to the sea with cliffs which are often vertical, enchanting beaches among the rocks, the world renowned trail connecting the villages.
One week in Casa Bosco is too short: beaches, sea trips to Portofino and San Fruttuoso, or all the way down to Porto Venere, walking in the Cinque Terre, shopping in Genoa, Zoagli a must, Nervi's seaside boulevard you should not miss and the fresh fish market in S. Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Mauro and Jennifer live in the Coppola family villa and produce red and white wine from grape varieties grown on their estate.
The hundreds of ancient olive trees on the estate surrounding Casa Bosco produce excellent extra virgin olive oil.
We enjoy growing and producing the good things on the land and are very happy to share them free of charge with our guests so they can sample the true Italian Ligurian tastes and hospitality.
We produce apricots, peaches, oranges and lemons which all go into our home made jams and jellies.
Autumn brings the avocado pear harvest for guacamole, [trees introduced into the land by Mauro's Mexican great great grandmother]
Why the Owner Chose Chiavari
Having lived in many different countries and continents from Africa to South America, we have come back to the old family estate to enjoy the beauty of Liguria with its dazzling blue Mediterranean Sea, and hinterland of higher land rising to mountains where you can ski in winter.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Here we can be in the centre of town in 5 minutes but once in our land the world seems far away.
From Genoa airport we can be in London in just over an hour to visit friends and family, and of course it works the other way too!

Wonderful house in a charming city

My husband and I stayed in Casa Bosco with another couple for a week in October 2010, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It was very hard to leave both the spacious, accomodating house and the city of Chiavari. We took the train to the Cinque Terre and also to Genoa to meet friends for lunch. Both journies were easy from Chiavari. But our explorations of the city itself and quiet times at the house were as enjoyable. Grilling over olive wood, having coffee out on the deck--all our little domestic rituals were a great pleasure. Our host was helpful and the wifi splendid! We didn't have a car, by the way, and walked down to the town and back when we ate out or went shopping at the market. Chiavari is blessed with terrific wine and food--and we felt lucky to be there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at Casa Bosco. The house was exactly as described, with plenty of creature comforts, good facilities and wonderful views. We were amply supplied by our generous hosts with wine, olive oil and other delights from the estate. There are numerous restaurants in the area (the fish is brilliant), and plenty of places to explore either by car or train. Highly recommended.
