Cozy Bed and Breakfast in Amish Country
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Lancaster
We have always liked the quiet countryside of the southern part of the county and began dreaming and looking for a property with more acreage. We found this property and with it came an operating B&B. As a busy stay-at-home Mom, I soon became excited the idea of how well this would work for us since Dan is in the retail bakery business and the rest of the property was a dream come true for us! God just seemed to move some major things that seemed to be in our way to purchase this property and we have enjoyed every aspect of the property and meeting lots of wonderful people!!
The Unique Benefits at this Bed & Breakfast
Our property is along a quiet country road in the southern end of Lancaster County just 15 miles south of Lancaster and located within 20 minutes to most major attractions including Dutch Wonderland, Strasburg Railroad, and Rockvale and Tanger Outlets.
Owner's Map of Lancaster
My husband, Dan, and I both grew up in Lancaster County among the Amish, in fact,I, Sara, grew up Amish. We enjoy vacationing with our energetic young family at kid friendly places and so I enjoy preparing a place of quiet rest and relaxation for other Mommies and Daddys and to all who choose to vacation here!

My husband and I just returned from a lovely stay. It was our 20th wedding anniversary and wanted somewhere to get away. They had everything available for us when we arrived and loved every bit. The bread that she has for you is to "die for," it's that good. The place was immaculate and the decoration was tastfully done. Thanks for such a wonderful time at your place.

Just returned from a one week stay at Sara and Dan's Stoney Hill Rd. B&B. There were five in our party, and all of us were so pleased with our accomodations. This place is wonderful. It is well stocked with hot and cold drinks, fruit, delicious bread and pasteries, cereal and every cooking utensil that one would need. We all enjoyed the views of the working farms, watching the goats in the backyard, and just watching the children as they did their chores and as they played together. Sara is a pleasure to be around and is full of information about Amish life. We made day trips to Philadelphia, Washington DC, Williamsburg, and Gettysburg but our favorite time spent was in Lancaster county. We loved our peaceful time at the B&B. They have the sweetest dog ever. Thank you Sara and Dan for a cozy, comfortable, home away from home.

As a family of 6 it is usually difficult to find a hotel that would accommodate us without having to rent 2 rooms. So we tried vacation rental site (Homeaway.com) and we found this place (stonyhillbarn.com) and it has changed the way we will vacation forever. The B&B is immaculate, well stocked with everything you would ever need hot and cold drinks, fruit, bread, cereals and delicious treats for breakfast. It was comfortable and clean. Sara and Dan have a wonderful property warm, cozy and they made us feel at home. Our kids loved all the animals and they ask daily when we can go back to the Barn for another sleepover. It is located very close to all the local attractions and allowed us to come back for lunch or dinner to recharge our batteries before heading out again. We plan on returning to Lancaster and would stay no where else but this home away from home. Sara and Dan Thank you for such a memorable stay.
Owner response:I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!! And please, do come again! Hopefully we will be at home more the next time, so the kids could all play together! Sara

Perfect Home in Farm country!

We just finished our stay at Stony Hill Barn B&B and had a fabulous time! The home itself was comfortable, clean, and cozy. Sara and Dan are excellent hosts and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the fresh pastries (best apple fritters ever!) and the local dairy milk (so good we ended up buying 4 gallons to bring home). The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked - I cooked a full dinner most nights and found every dish/pot/gadget I needed. The home is a very convenient location to Amish and other Lancaster attractions, Gettysburg, and Hershey. It is located right in the middle of farm country and we enjoyed coming home a different route everyday just to enjoy the scenery. We also loved watching the neighboring Amish farmer work his field everyday from our window. Our kids enjoyed playing with the owner's childrean. None of us wanted to leave! We have stayed at several Home Away homes and this was the best so far. Thanks Sara and Dan! We hope to be back soon!
Owner response:I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! We enjoyed having you here and getting to know your family! Hopefully we will have the opportunity to connect again some time! Sara PS The note from your kids to ours was so sweet, it absolutely 'made their day'!!

My husband, son, and a family friend rented out Sara and Dan's B&B for a long weekend while in town for a wedding. Their home, and the adjacent bed and breakfast, are smack-dab in the middle of some of the most beautiful farm country I've ever seen. The rolling hills were so peaceful. The long driveway to the B&B is tree-lined and affords views of the surrounding farmland. Our son played in the yard with Sara and Dan's 2 younger children and it was really surreal to watch cows meander across the adjacent farm, taking no notice of the boys hooting, hollering, and giving each other rides in the wheelbarrow! The guest quarters of the barn are up on the 2nd floor, and are sparsely furnished with comfortable, old furniture in the common area, a well-appointed kitchenette with plenty of cold drinks at the ready, and beautiful, well-appointed bedrooms with solid wood furniture and the softest, most luxurious sheets ever. It was also immaculate - not a dust bunny or scuff mark to be found! The place oozed warmth, comfort, and rest. I wish we could have stayed longer! The continental breakfast was laid out for us when we arrived, as not to disturb us in the morning, and consisted of a variety of baked goods, cereals, and fruits. There was plenty of coffee and tea available as well. It is obvious that a lot of thought was put into the creation and maintenance of Sara and Dan's bed and breakfast. I easily recommend their property to those wishing for a type of accommodation different from the typical hotel experience. This was more intimate and good for the spirit!

We just returned home from staying at this wonderful bed and breakfast after a holiday with my husband and my two sisters. The place was incredibly lovely. It was quiet, clean, and very comfortable. Sara and her husband Dan were excellent hosts. Sara brought over fresh pastries daily, as well as stocking the place with cereals, coffees, teas, soft drinks, milk, fresh fruit, eggs, and yogurt. We raved about the accommodations amongst ourselves and will definitely recommend to anyone traveling through the area. We even hope to return someday ourselves. Thank you, Sara and Dan, for contributing to a wonderful vacation with your hospitality.

Our little family stayed with Sara and Dan. What a place. We want to visit and stay there again, hopefully, this September. My son loves it there as well. Sara made us feel very welcome. The house was very comfortable and clean. Love it there.

This was the ideal place for my family of six's Pennsylvania vacation. We loved the accommodations but also the hospitality and friendliness of the Stoltzfus family. Locations was within an hour and a half of Gettysburg and Hershey and right in the heart of Lancaster county. Thanks again, Pete and Lisa Smith

Sara, I can't adequately express how pleased my children and I were with our stay at your lovely bed and breakfast. Everything was absolutely perfect! The beds were comfortable, the bedrooms and living areas cozy and everything was so clean. We have stayed at several other VRBO properties in the past and I can honestly say yours is the best.
Owner response:Great, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us....it is my goal to provide my guests with a clean, comfortable, enjoyable, and relaxing place to stay!
